@Tobias: Yeah, that's pretty much how I was. Like, on the whole, the quality of the writing (I found) to be pretty good overall. There were some issues, but as far as technique goes it mostly fine aside from a few issues. But the premise is pretty much the polar opposite of what I want out of a fanfic, so quality aside I just couldn't get into it.

An excellent example of understatement.

Reminds me of what some say about Shinzakura's stuff- technically well-written, but ridiculous plot elements and conflicts (though for the most part it works for me).

It depends on how you count. If you're talking about the very beginning of the thread, then there's only one, Lalei 2000, and they post only very, very, rarely. If you define it more broadly, then there are still a few left. There's me of course (joined May 2011 or so), and Kegisak and JT, and Pannic posts occasionally. And I think KTT is also one of the old guard. Sereg's been around for a while, but not quite as long as me. Of course, it's hard to keep track of who's still here and how long they've been here. I just remember Kegisak because he was writing fanfics back when I joined the fandom, but I think JT came after me.

I've been posting here since sometime during the second season of the show, and thus was also a participant in this forum during the existence of the old pony thread.

Literally everything anyone ever writes is copywrited. Even shopping lists. It's automatic. I had to study that.

I don't think that's quite true. First off, works produced by the US government as part of official business are in the public domain. Second, works must have a creative element to be copyrightable. Mere lists of facts aren't copyrightable, although the method of presentation and organization can be copyrighted.

At least that's my understanding. I am not a lawyer of course. And this is only for the US, copyright law differs around the world.

Re: Fallout Equestria - It's true that it's much darker than the actual show, but I don't think it's fair to describe it as "Fallout with ponies" either. It's a lot more idealistic than Fallout. For example, in Fallout, the shelters were designed to due cruel experiments on the inhabitants for the lulz. In FOE, the stables were a legitimate effort to help people and everything that went wrong in them was due to bad luck, accidents, and the like.
