I guess this would make Enid Ambiguously Bi since she is implied to be interested in girls. Also I guess with her past history of dating Rad, it means they just decided in the end to just be friends.

I sort of figured "One Last Job" would be about that sandwich flashback, but that was mostly because I figured it was a season finale. Now I have no idea how long this season is supposed to be.

Shit, I finally got it. Had to wrangle with CN's site some but I'm catching up now, will post my thoughts later. Apparently this Monday is a half hour special episode though?

Edit: Okay, watched the episodes. First one was alright with some character stuff with Enid and Rad but it didn't kick into high gear until the last third went off the rails and over the top as hell. Second one was...eh, I guess? Seemed odd to focus on some random character from Carol's group who I'd forgotten all about until now. From my understanding the next episode is a half hour one taking up two production codes, so it should be the midseason finale, I guess? Either way it looks interesting.

Yeah, I'm thinking that bit with the dark KO from that dream episode was foreshadowing...

I should note the credits have listed a character called "TKO" (who has the same VA as KO) since the first episodes. Kind of like how the Steven Universe credits has spoiled the existence of multiple characters.

Seemed odd to focus on some random character from Carol's group who I'd forgotten all about until now.
Especially since it shows she's a manipulative weirdo, but didn't end up exactly being the antagonist either.

So TKO would be KO's evil side or some shit, I guess? It seems obvious from the commercial that Professor Venemous is behind something, they aren't really hiding him easily in there.

TKO! Like the Boz Scaggs song [ed: or he did a well-known cover of it.] It took me until I was 20 before I asked someone what a "TKO" even is, even though I'd heard that song many times before.

Read some interesting speculation somewhere on reddit that Venomous is Ko's dad, their evidence was the hairstyle and the fact that he seemed to recognise Ko

personally I'm hoping its Boxman

[up]Why tho? Wouldn't he have to have some kind of guilt over fighting him for that to be true? And wouldn't Carol feel guilty about keeping her son away from his own father bot?

I'm still on the side of thinking his father is

A) Ded

B) The Big Bad This season who hasn't shown up yet

C) Gar after he proposes to Carol

Okay, the new episode just aired. Half hour special, I assume this was meant as a mid-season finale. As for my thoughts, I'm gonna spoiler tag them for convenience.

This was not as good as I was expecting. There were some really tremendous moments, don't get me wrong. The entire second half makes up for the kinda slow first half with some great action sequences but it also kinda feels bogged down by these little annoying emo jokes that seem really out of date (I swear, Rad was dressed like he'd just gotten done listening to The Black Parade at one point). I like the little character stuff with KO even though it does feel kind of cliche'd, I suppose, but it wasn't half bad. But, my biggest issue has to do with our new villain.

This Shadowy Figure dude (who I'm still assuming is Professor Venomous) seems kinda boring at the moment. He's not really interesting and I'm not getting the same feeling of dread or "oh shit" like I get from previous dark villains in similar shows. This is the standard template I've noticed with modern cartoons: they'll start off with a somewhat comedic villain of some kind (for example: Ludo, Ice King, Peridot, Lord Hater, and Gideon Gleeful) who starts off as a recurring threat before transitioning into a much more dangerous villain. It's also a pattern that I'm starting to worry is getting overused, and OK KO might be the straw that breaks the camel's back if they're unable to make this Shadowy Figure compelling in any way. Currently he's just a plot device foreshadowing bigger things. We have no info about him, nothing about what he wants to do or why he's interested in KO, and it rubs me the wrong way because in previous cartoons following a similar template, we know more about these characters fairly quickly and it sucks us in. Toffee shows up, immediate foreshadowing that he's got a grudge against the royal family and he means business, Jasper shows up and we know she's tough and ruthless, the Lich shows up and he's downright terrifying, etc. There's none of that with this new character just yet and unless they give us something more in later episodes, he's just gonna feel much less interesting than Lord Boxman.

I like how Mr. Gar totally misinterpreted what Carol wanted him to say to KO, causing him to blurt out a Love Confession about his feelings for her. Which Carol proceeded to take in stride. [lol]

Also, Enid continues to be the best character.

I'm really loving this show, and I hope it doesn't pull a Steven Universe on me.

... now, what I mean by that is, I hope it doesn't pull a "man, I love this episodic show with random stories featuring these cool characters- oh now its all about the overarching plotline I don't really care for or like".

Yes, I'm probably the only person who preferred early S1 Steven Universe. I CAN'T FIX THAT PART OF MEEEEEE

So it seems ridiculously obvious that the guy in the cloak in Venomous. But Laserblast (the guy in Gar's nightmare) also has a similar face, the same Hero Rank (+/- 8), and all three have the same voice actor.

All three could be the same person, but either or both could be a Red Herring.

If the cloaked guy is just one of them, I do think Laserblast is more likely. The resemblance to Venomous is really obvious, but he has no sign of a motive, which makes the former seem like misdirection. Laserblast, on the other hand, bears enough resemblance for it to be plausible, and has some kind of connection to Carol and Gar that might explain his interest in KO.

I've been seeing speculation pointing out how KO's look as TKO was similar to his mother's look in Gar's nightmare from that one episode.

Bump.

New episode was pretty funny. Boxman went full on bonkers trying to repress his desire to attack the plaza and it's always fun to see his robot children. They even brought Jethro back!

Speaking of Jethro, I find it funny that, while the others were beating up K.O., Rad and Enid, Jethro was just rolling along on the roof.

These Villains Out Shopping scenes of the robots are pretty good. It's funny how Darrell, Raymond, and Shannon treat their dad a lot how KO treats his mom.

Boxman has a pretty interesting dynamic, like a half-Villain of Another Story: His role in the story (the guy attacking the plaza) is basically just a hobby distracting him from his job (supplying evil people with killer robots), which seems to be much more significant to (and worse for) the setting. On a related note, I've noticed he's only been in six of twenty-seven episodes, but was the protagonist in two of them, and his intro episode was arguably as much about him as KO.
