I really want him to be replaced by Bolo, Sky, or Mimic in a game or two.
Put him in daycare so he can have his baba and not have to worry about responsibility.
Yes, I am indeed implying that Bolo would be a better choice than Scuttlebutt, and that is saying quite a lot.
There's a dancer NPC that actually explains that. If I remember correctly, Shantae got lazy and stopped practicing them.

but she literally does the dances as soon as you hit the x button
that's one hell of a hand wave
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeWell, you could do the moves for the Magic Dances at the start of the original game too, but you still don't get to transform if it hasn't been taught to you yet. So, in addition to the physical moves, there's probably some genie magic-related component that needs to be taught that Shantae forgot about.

Bolo is hilarious, though I'm curious as to how him and Sky started in the series. Wasn't he an antagonist like Rottytops?

Unless you're asking about how they were introduced before the first game, which I don't think was ever detailed, Bolo and Skye were always Shantae's friends, and even Rotty wasn't that much different than she is now.
I think the main thing Bolo did in the first game was crush on Risky so hard that he pretty much aided her in finding the places she needed to go to for her Steam Engine plan, but other than that he was pretty much just there to give hints.
Skye did the same thing, although had a slightly more direct role in assisting Shantae with the help of her bird, Wrench. I forget exactly what they did, but I think it involved opening a path for Shantae.

Ohhhh okay. I thought they didn't like Shantae at first or something.
Bolo is hilarious BTW, funniest character IMO.
@Shantae's dances: I think the idea is that there's more to the dances than just the moves. Shantae is also using genie magic in conjunction with them so by not practicing she doesn't remember how to use the magic.
i really hope that this sparks a lot of interest in the game series over there, it would really help Shantae's chances of getting into Smash, plus it would encourage more games being made.
Also, played a bit more of Risky's Revenge... and Shantae fell off of the screen. Like, completely gone. No idea what happened. I walked out of the shop into scuttle town, then her sprite did something weird and completely disappeared. I could still move, and still make the attacking sound, but I could also attack while moving. I couldn't jump or dodge, but I could still use magic. I couldn't enter any buildings either.. so I was forced to reset the game and lose about 20 or so minutes of progress. Not too bad, but just really weird.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeI just saw that latest Backer enemy. Interesting that not only does it look vaguely like Nikki, the fact that it's a ghost pretty much reflects well how Nintendo neutered Swap Note to the point of uselessness, because some idiots out there can't let us have nice things.
We already have a decent collection of Japanese fanart. Nice.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI know I've said it before and I'll say it again, when are we gonna hear the announcement date for Half-Genie Hero? I thought that we'd hear it by now. I know that games funded by Kickstarter won't come out very soon, but I find it annoying we still haven't heard any release date or even idea of when it could come out.
My Tumblr "If theirs one thing I'm good at, it's blowing" Jesse Cox 2013Considering that Pirate's Curse kept slipping back, they probably don't want to commit just yet. 2017 is a good bet though.

Loving pirate's curse, but why does Shantae's pirate bandana only appear while using one of the pirate weapons?

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeThat's Rottytops.
Aaand beat Pirate's Curse.
The final boss wasn't too hard, but that was probably because I was totally decked out with everything imaginable. The ending was sweet as well.
Now to wait for Half-Genie hero!

Plot reasons. Bag of spilling is a thing, I guess. The mayor is just an irresponsible, terrible person. But he owns the town so there's nothing for it.
