One question: If I see a work or creator page in the Main namespace and remove all text from it, will it make it into a disambiguation page?
No, because the page still technically exist, just empty.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe message on these pages might need a tweak, as locked pages might confuse newer folks. "Where's this edit button you're telling me to click?"
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)@26: Perhaps the message at the bottom could say something like "If you came here from within the wiki, we'd appreciate it if you edited the page you came from to point to the correct page"? That might not make sense for newbies though...
That would work probably less than using a different colour in wicks.
Also, is the new auto-disambig in any way related to the change to the Cut List header?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanHow are the pages ordered? As is very apparrent on ShoutOut.Theatre, it's not alphabetical.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. It was random. Now not so much.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyMuch easier to manage now. Thanks!
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.A different color for wicks that lead to the disambiguation page would be great. I was wicking to future pages for Arkham Horror spin-offs when "Tabletop Game / Eldritch Horror" turned blue on me. It lead to the disambiguation page which then lead to a main space redirect for Eldritch Abomination.
I was looking up the Negima! franchise and saw a blue link to the Live-Action Adaptation. We don't have a page for the live action series so the blue Series/Negima goes to a disambiguation page that leads you to the original manga, the franchise page, or the main redirect to the franchise page.

"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984What should we do with disambiguation pages like Main.Legally Blonde? Can we cut them to get the (better) auto disambiguation page instead?
Only if they don't have a lot of inbounds. I'm not actually sure how the auto-disambig interacts with inbound links. We should ask Eddie.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"You'll need to get rid of the wicks first.
I know that the auto-disambig interacts with inbounds just like normal disambigs.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanBut can we track them? Would a Related search to a nonexistent page work? I suppose we can try it and see...

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"The inbounds work in both cases. The wick list doesn't work if the Cut List gets anywhere near to it - i.e, if a page is cut, the wick list is blanked. The wicks show up again when the pages they are on are edited.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanRelated searches work for nonexistant pages. You can use them to check up on common misspellings or accidental wiki-words where the page doesn't exist. Example: Fi M's search is here.
Edit: Whoops, misunderstood. Entschüldigung.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Anyway, the wicks are gone, except for Ambiguity Index, Archive.Lost And Found and Lost And Found.
If I may make a suggestion about the redlinker change proposed in @1, wicks pointing to nonexistent pages that have at least one article with the requested title in any of the namespaces should have a different colour than standard blue links, or otherwise highlighted. Some of these wicks are going to be namespace typos or other such things that ought to be fixed, and it's probably better for a link to point to an existing article than to a ReDisambig anyhow.
