Looked around and didn't see a thread like this, so I figured I'd start one.

Basically, these are experiences where your carefully laid deathtraps plans go smoothly and you don't have to force railroading or end up completely derailed.

Here's my story: I'm running a Vampire The Requiem game and my players are pooling their resources together to get a better Haven, and also combine their restaurant and hotel (two different players own each) into a bigger business. I knew this from a couple of sessions ago, so as the last arc was wrapping up I casually had one of the "rewards" for their success be a referral to another vampire that would sell them real estate with feeding grounds.

Which is massively haunted.

And they bought it!

I was fair about it though. I had the ghosts act up a bit, let them roll to detect lies and sense motives, but they decided it was all on the up and up. I even got sneaky and had them roll to see if they would resist a Charm Person the seller would use on them in desperation well before they met him (it wasn't necessary, and it didn't arouse too much suspicion).

If they had done research on the property they'd have probably found out the place has a bad reputation, then I'd have resorted to the seller begging them for help. But thankfully it didn't come to that.

They're just starting to clear out the ghosts, and when they're done (assuming they don't panic and set the place on fire by provoking them real bad or something) the hotel will be pretty well worth it. I'm even toying with giving them the option of keeping one of the ghosts as extra security if they placate her well enough.

Isn't this still something that could be part of the GM Discussion Thread?

Eh. We all fit under a big enough umbrella, but I just thought it would be nice to have a thread with our successes.

(And in my defense, the GM general thread hadn't seen activity since December '12, then it popped back up after I posted this thread [lol] )
