I could see a Zootopia TV show being like Brooklyn 99 with animals. I'd love that. (Granted, I could be biased because I really love Brooklyn 99, so there's that.) But having the show be more of a straightforward police procedural drama with animals could be cool, too. I dunno. I just want a Zootopia TV show.

I can imagine Nick being an animal version of Peralta anyway, to be honest XD

Zootopian Night Court. All-new cast, but established ZPD characters cameo occasionally.

On a different note, do you guys think "Try Everything" is gonna win an Oscar? Out of all the Disney Movies I've seen this year(all 2 of them [lol]) I liked that song the best. Don't get me wrong, Moana had some pretty nice music, but it lacked that one instantly catchy song that you had to play on a loop for hours

That might be one for Best Original Song, though Moana might give it a run for its money with its music being written by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Well, yeah, I could see "How Far I'll Go" beating out "Try Everything" (It helps that Auli'i Cravelho, despite being a complete newcomer, really knocks it out of the park with that), but it will be close either way. And honestly? Both deserve it, so I can't even be mad

I don't really care for "Try Everything", to be honest.

I mean, I love Zootopia's score, but the Shakira song? Just doesn't do it for me. The chorus is catchy enough, but the lack of rhyming outside of it just annoys me more than anything else.

I like "How Far I'll Go" a lot more than "Try Everything", but I still do enjoy "Try Everything." I could see either song getting it.

Moana will probably get it.

Even so, I still want this film to win Best Animated Film. Again, I cannot stress how amazing I think this movie is, especially with its applicability in terms of themes, and extremely tight writing. There's seriously almost no moment in the film that feels superfluous, as nearly detail relates to something in the story; it's as efficient at storytelling as the works of Edgar Wright. Moana's great too, but it lacks that tightness in terms of plot.

I'd just like to share this. Tremendous emotion, a very good fit that transforms the original song.

....is that comparing Shakira to Ed Sheeran? That's a rather unfair comparison, since one is a whitebread no-talent hack who's the poster child for white guy with acoustic guitar, and the other is, well Shakira. (I maaaaaay hate Ed Sheeran and everything wrong with the music industry he represents. Just a little.)

I'd take Ed Sheeran over friggin' Justin Bieber at least.

I'm actually kind of disappointed with a lot of the "mashups" I've seen. Most of them just use the vocalizing instead of the rest of the lyrics.

...... they didn't go for Moana!??

THAT'S a surprise! Moana's more of the Disney formula, and it's more recent so the hype was better.

The breaking point, probably, was that while Moana was another Disney movie (albeit a good one that went to a different place rather than the standard "European fairy tale" thing, Zootopia was well-animated, very good, had good characters, and was topical, and conveyed that moral in a good way that wasn't preachy.

It is so interesting going back to the beginning of this thread and watching the general attitude of the film go from "Talking animals? Meh, might be ok." to "Hey this is starting to look pretty interesting." to "OMG THIS MOVIE IS SO AWESOME!!" and seeing the sudden explosion of fanfics and fanart and sequel speculation.

The $1 billion box office and golden globe are awesome, and while I would love to see them win the academy award, regardless of what happens at the oscars I can safely say this was my personal favorite film of 2016. Not just animation, but everything. Disney would have be crazy not to capitalize on this franchise in some way (in fact I'm shocked at the relatively small amount of merchandise this film has gotten) but I think the whole cast and crew should be proud of the final product and I really look forward to seeing whatever it is they do next.

[up][up] Speaking of sequel speculation...

CAN WE PLEASE HAVE A SEQUEL CONFIRMED BY NOW?!

Maybe I've grown too attached, maybe I'm just having trouble letting go. But, I'm sorry, there are too many stories just waiting to be told with these characters. Hell, I'll be satisfied with a show if they get good writers. It would be incredibly foolhardy for Disney to just leave this thing alone.

Can we, like, make a meme to raise support or something?

I don't know about you, but I feel pretty certain that, in wake of 2016, the Zootopia writers are hard at work.
