I like OP's suggestion.
I must be cruel, but to be kind That bad may begin, and worse be left behindI know it's nitpicking, but I don't because it's more of a Digital Shirt.
Tropes are more flexible than that. It's still an example as it is censorship in the form of digitally added clothes due to the characters' level of nakedness being beyond the acceptable limit.
That said, my main gripe about it is that its art style makes it look like it could be a visual novel and that they are two separate scenes/pictures and not the same one having been censored.
A vertically stacked version◊.
Also, @5, I do not see an art style difference at all, nor why the art style looking Visual Novel-y would matter.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI like it, provided the vertical version is made much smaller.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I like the showgirl one, it just to badly done and obvious. It also has the bonus that it's only one image.

It works for me.
Absent-minded professor and Neverwinter Nights DMI think the point about the Visual Novel style was that it was an alternate outfit, rather than censoring, which is very common. And I actually think the unmodified version looks less natural, though, so I'm not sure how well it works.
The Showgirls one might've worked if it wasn't so bad quality.
I think Tenchi Muyo! had a lot of blatant censoring in that regard, but all images I can find are of horrible quality.
Check out my fanfiction!Until I can see the Showgirls image on a larger screen and make a judgment, I'm going to lean toward the stacked mermaid pic.
The Showgirls pic doesn't load for me.

I do like the mermaid though.

I prefer the mermaid, it's clearer.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Mermaid is much clearer than harpy.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.@14 has the important bits less prominent than the stacked OP suggestion.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIs there a way to get a larger version of the Harpy pic? I kinda like that one a little better than the mermaid pic, mainly because it's more risque in the uncensored and the censoring is more drastic.

Here's a larger version of the Harpy pic...I do think I like this better than the mermaid one.
I still prefer the mermaid, it puts a greater focus on what the trope actually is about. The main thing I notice about the harpy is the huge hair, wings, and hand gesturing.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!@19 still has the issue of the trope being buried among the other things.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI agree. There's way too much going on.
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.- That can be fixed with some judicious cropping, but that'll have to wait until later. The mermaid pic isn't bad, but her already covering herself (and appearing to be wearing the equivalent of a strapless bra already) dulls the overall effect of the censorship for me, whereas the changing of the harpy's outfit from a couple of strategic straps to a full shirt is more drastic. I don't like the Showgirls pic for its overall fuzzy quality...a sharper version of the same pic or a different scene would be best.

Uh? To me, the mermaid looks like she's showing the exposed parts of her breasts into my face - and I don't even like breasts!
