Oh, dear god. This is currently nothing more than Troper Tales with the serial numbers filed off. Burn it to the ground.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.In-universe examples can probably go on Broken Pedestal or Warts and All. So far, I've found two, both in the Western Animation section:
- In-universe example from Hey Arnold!: Arnold has a series of children's books he's always liked, and is very disappointed to find that the author is old, lonely, and bitter.
- The Simpsons:
- A topic of the episode "Lisa the Iconoclast", in which Lisa discovers the town's founder, Jebediah Springfield, was actually a pirate who even tried to kill George Washington. Eventually she decides not to reveal this to the rest of the town, believing that his good image has always kept the town morale high and that it's better to keep the myth alive.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I can say without exaggeration that this is among the across-the-board worst pages I have ever seen. Meaninglessly YMMV, bad description, bad examples, bad example write-ups... just bad all around.
Make it In-Universe-only and not YMMV.
Bam, done. It is awful as-is. But definitely tropable in-universe. I can think of several examples that would count.
It would need a new description, of course.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanActually, giving it more thought, just axe it. Making it not YMMV just turns it into Broken Pedestal.

Support merge with Broken Pedestal and nuking of the YMMV examples.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.I agree with the cut. Not a long time ago, I actually spent some time fixing Example Indentation and deleting this troper and natter, and I found the page rather weird. Though I couldn't resist and added one example, too. *ashamed*
It has only 11 wicks and 29 inbounds. Not minding the cut.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOk, we have mostly suggestions to cut or make it a redirect to Broken Pedestal. Could it perhaps work as its Internal Subtrope?
Though admittedly, the name alone makes me think more about situations when children learn that Christmas presents are not brought by magical beings, but bought by parents and similar situations. Which would be a thing to discuss in YKTTW if we don't have a trope for it already.

Just adding my Me Too! to the previous suggestion to move in-universe examples to appropriate tropes and then cut.
BTW, the "Santa is not real" would be more like Crushed Childhood Myths.

Those numbers got me thinking. There are a TON of examples for so few inbounds. I checked the history and it seems the vast, vast, VAST majority of examples were by Sapphirea (and later Sapphirea 2, with 36 edits between the two) and Patachou (42 edits). So 78/108 edits are by those two, and most other edits were administrative/namespace. Given the lack of wicking, kind of makes the page into their own private ranting ground.
Not sure if this is even relevant, but I'm noting it anyway.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it....ban evaders?
Well, if one of these three folks was suspended at some point I would think so.
Regardless, with these things in mind, I would now just cut the page and possibly take disciplinary action against the complainers.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI see no reason to think Patachou and Sapphirea(2) are the same person, since they're both active at the same time.
And I just assumed Sapphirea2 was Sapphirea after they forgot their password or something. Though I suppose it could be looked into.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanNo evidence of ban evasion. Neither has a any record of any kind of disciplinary action.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Shall we crowner the move off good examples and cut proposition?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMay as well. I don't think anyone has any other ideas at this point.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Yeah, I support moving the legit examples to Broken Pedestal and Nuking, there's not that much content on the page anyway.
Crown Description:
This page has some serious problems. It basically seems to be a list of anything bad that happened to anyone involved in something popular with kids, including accidents and diseases that don't reflect badly on the person involved at all, and things that aren't actually made for kids. It could also be considered a duplicate trope with Contractual Purity. Someone in the discussion page suggested limiting it to only in-universe examples, but there aren't any on there that I can tell.
