This is two tropes in one. The half of the description (and almost all of the examples) are "A finishing move that is a string of normal moves" and the rest is "all you need to be effective is complete mastery of a handful of moves."

Given the second half is covered by When All You Have Is a Hammer…, I vote we just cut that and just make sure that the examples jive with the first definition.

Thoughts?

I am not sure what your 2nd sentence says.

The second three paragraphs of Five Moves of Doom is covered by another trope (specifically When All You Have Is a Hammer…), so I say we just cut those lines and call it good.

Reading the examples, it's all about a finishing sequence of moves. The Bruce Lee reference isn't needed.

I'm unsure about the two last examples in Other. The Valkyrie Profile seems to be something the player does, and the last is just a combination used at once.

[up] And are uncomfortably close to Complacent Gaming Syndrome (which this trope seems to be the RL pro wrestling version of).

I almost wrote Player-Preferred Pattern, but it's not exactly that, so I didn't.

I don't think it's uncomfortably close. The way wrestling uses it is basically to give the wrester a signature move that's just not a single move, which helps with the type of familiarity the audience is likely to like.

Huh? Perhaps I wasn't clear: my complaint was with the non-wrestling uses.

Oh, okay. Anyway, I'm deleting the two last ones.

I think this trope is just "wrestler has a finishing sequence", which wouldn't apply outside of wrestling.

I would support moving away the non-wrestling examples from this.

Removing wrestling game examples from a wrestling trope?

Those are wrestling games?

Then I guess there could be a section for wrestling examples that don't involve actual wrestling. Still think it should be limited to wrestling.

[up] yeah I also think it should be limited to just wrestling, because it's a trope about a wrestler using a sequence of moves specifically as a finisher and in a video game, it just doesn't feel like it meets the spirit of the trope.

What about Hell's Floor from Yakuza? It's not a wrestling game, but it's a finisher that you can only use on bosses. Pulling from the YMMV page: "Hell's Floor, the final boss finisher Kazuma can learn in 3: a German suplex, followed by an arm bar, followed by a triangle choke, followed by an ANACONDA choke, followed by a GUILLOTINE choke, finished with a mounted punch to the face. Just the chokes would probably leave the opponent's trachea reduced to the consistency of burger."

I feel like that works for it.

Well, those are wrestling moves, so it's not really unconnected to wrestling...

Limiting this to wrestling or works that incorporate wrestling-type action would seem to be the way to go.

Who removed Scotty 2 Hotty? I have not watched any of his matches recently enough to remember his sequence but I think it went something like...Cross Body-Gut kick-Bulldog-Super Kick-WORM(-Miss-Lose).

Okay, so some troper has something against good humor but was that reason to really throw out the entire example? Oh well, I will put "Watch Too Cool Matches" on my to do list.

Anyhow, has anyone disagreements with moving away the non-wrestling entries?

The ones in the wicks. And renaming the folder.

The Odin Sphere and So You Think You Can Dance examples and the wick in the Trauma Center example on Colour-Coded for Your Convenience, and one on Pokémon: Generation II Families?

Remove those. Keep the Kinnikuman examples (unless they don't fit for some other reason).

I'm going to go ahead and remove the last three paragraphs from the description, as well as the related wicks (which are covered by When All You Have Is a Hammer…).
