That's not even close to Just A Face And A Caption.
Keep Until Better Image Suggested.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!I'll be honest - I wasn't too sure whether to put this under "JAFAC", "Does Not Illustrate" or "Poor Image". Thing is, it does illustrate the trope (very poorly, but it tries), and it's a decent quality image, so JAFAC seemed like the best option.
Pinball cleanup threadIf an image is posted unilaterally by a user, should it receive the same Keep Until Better Image Suggested consideration as one arrived at via a thread? I personally don't think so, but I can roll with whatever.
I can live with the current, but I think it needs a caption lampshading his mid-ness.
I see no "stronger-than-average monster" in that shot.
He's got a boss meter, so he's obviously a boss, but the fact that he's not very big or intimidating says "mini boss" to me. Keep Until Better Image Suggested.
Considering that there is a boss meter, I think it's better that it doesn't look too strong.
Check out my fanfiction!I checked the examples and realized that midbosses either have no lifebar and thus won't readily
illustrate their boss-ness or have boss-like lifebar and thus not illustrate their mini-ness.
The current image relies on a Visual Pun... which does not even get lampshaded with a caption.
EDIT: seems that i just repeated what someone else already said.
I suggest "Who say's all bosses need to be Large and in Charge?"

Is dast der Zerstorer? Odar die Schopfer?I would suggest doing a two shot image. First showing the mini-boss of the level (which for many games, the Mini Boss will be fought in it's own area, away from most other enemies), and then the final boss at the end of the level, with an arrow pointing down to show an order that you fight them.
Too unnecessarily complex. The current illustrates the trope with a single image, so two images is just more clutter that we don't need.
Bump. I still don't think this is a good image.
Pinball cleanup threadI still think the current is fine, but if people want a suggestion, here's Mid-Boss: [1]◊.
Looks as good as any really. The only other way to do it I can think of would be to take one of those games that uses an elite mook as boss and have two images, one of them as a boss, one as an elite mook later. (earliest one I can think of is the Baron of Hell from Doom). And that would require two images(or one split).
Really, I think the current one is fine.
Clock is set.
Clock's up; locking for inactivity/lack of consensus. No action is to be taken based on this thread.
This was posted without a thread and illustrates nothing about the trope - the life meter says "BOSS", which could lead people to believe that it's a full-fledged boss rather than a mid-boss.
I can't really think of a good replacement image, aside from maybe a webcomic or something.
