Identity Impersonator is covered by the second definition of Second Super-Identity. Given II has more than twice as many wicks, I say cut the bit about type II on SSI, and then make a mention that it's related at the end. Thoughts?
A Wizard boyI moved the thread tag over to the other page.
Upon review, Agreed. The question at hand is "is the motive behind the impersonation a significant distinction?" At this point, my answer is "Perhaps, but we already have Frameup for the 'discredit' route, so that Sub-Trope can be sent there; the only alternative Sub-Trope other than II's original purpose is 'profit off of a hero's deeds/coattails, ' which, while significant enough to cite, is not significant enough of a Trope on its own." So yeah, move Type 2 to Identity Impersonator except for those examples where the impersonated Hero is being discredited/framed, putting those examples under Frameup.

A Wizard boyI am on board with this semi-split-and-merge proposal. How much consensus will we need for this?
Gentleman Troper!I agree to itt.
Special trousers. Very heroic.
Still new. Still learning. Asking questions and making mistakes.
Identity Impersonator is consensual on the part of the costumed hero, though. The very last line of the description links to Costume Copycat, which is when someone else takes the identity to steal their reputation. The description for type II Second Super-Identity sounds like both.
This is when a superhero or vigilante assumes the mantle of another superhero. This is often to cash in on the reputation of that hero but it could be just because they owe the other hero a favor or it's part of a secret plan. Very frequently done to help a hero hide his secret identity.

Wasn't post 3 mostly about that distinction?
Yes, but it referred to the Frameup trope, not Costume Copycat. Frameup is for crimes anyway.

A Wizard boyThat is a reason to do a partial three-way split.
So if I'm reading this right, seems like people are supporting:

A Wizard boyPretty much (except with Costume Copycat instead of Frame-Up since that one's for crimes).
Are we still doing this or whaaaat.

Yeah, I think there's only one suggestion out there.
A Wizard boyActually, nobody disagreed with this, so I would just be OK with getting more voices in support and do it.
Well, I'm clearly for it.
I support this as well.
A Wizard boyIt's been a month, so barring any last minute disagreements I'll do the change soon.
A Wizard boyDid the change, moved the examples off and updated the wicks.
The system doesn't know you right now, so no post button for you.
You need to Get Known to get one of those.
