Just in case some of you don't know; Sengoku Basara is originally a PS 2 game by Capcom. The anime came much later.

So, whether you became a fan via the video games or the anime series, Put Ya Gunz On and discuss!

[up]We may be thinking of two different things. Is this the Dynasty Warriors knock-off featuring a warrior who fights with a wrecking ball, and a reinforcement legion of dancing fat dudes?

Don't you mean Samurai Warriors knockoff? XD

Dian Wei did fought with a wrecking ball flail in Dynasty Warriors 6... Also there were sumo wrestling based enemies in the first Samurai Warriors.

But I think by guy with wrecking ball, you probably meant Kanbe Kuroda who debuted in Sengoku Basara 3 aka Samurai Heroes in English.

I just wished Capcom localized more games.Sure, the third game sold crap, but I think it would be worth, since the entire series is now on PS 3(the first 2 games and their expansions got a HD collection, and the third game got an expansion.)I wouldn't even mind if it's undubbed for budget reasons, just translate them and put everything in a single disc, and I would be really satisfied...but it's Capcom we're talking about,so it's not gonna happen...

What really drives me so nuts about SB 3*

was how it was basically rigged to fail internationally. Within a year after releasing SB 3 Capcom craps out SB 3:Utage, an expansion which just about doubles the vanilla version's content....but was never released outside Japan. In an interview, the reasoning was because of how it failed worldwide, despite the fact that the biggest reason why it failed worldwide was because there was no marketing and no one knew the damn game existed! You can't gimp your game, play hush-hush, and still assume it'll sell in droves, Capcom!!

.......<big breath>.......

Yeah, as someone who followed the year of pain that was the SB 3 hype train, I'm still a little bitter about it. But oh well. Here's hopes of SB 4 getting localized.

I'm just glad I was fortunate to find the PS 2 version of the first game. Yeah, afterwards I bought all the PS 2 Basara games, can't understand crap, but by God they were awesome.

And the openings! Man, when I first heard TM Revolution's Crosswise in the opening and see Date Masamune and Sanada Yukimura duking it out, I know this game would kick so much ass XD

Sengoku Basara 4 has been announced!

Can't speak Japanese, but if you listen, one of the new character is Shima Sakon. And the big one, probably Masamune's teacher, is a Char.

This announcement is kind of old. Anyway, yes one of them is Shima Sakon, who's being voiced by Yuuichi Nakamura. And the Char-voiced dude is actually Shogun Ashikaga Yoshiteru. The Shogun before the Shogun that got dethroned by Nobunaga.

Also surprise? The other new guy, voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto, is Shibata Katsuie. Yeah, that's the first time Katsuie is not a muscle-bound brawny guy but a slim Bishōnen.

Old for the Japanese fans (and some others) but I (and probably many others AND most likely the fans who started with the anime) didn't knew; local game magazines didn't either.

So this game is a prequel of sorts? Dammit Capcom, don't mess up the timeline! Tsuruhime wasn't supposed to exist in the Sengoku period! (but then again, she's too Moe~[lol])

THAT'S Katsuie? Oichi's real husband? Wow, the first image I think of was his Samurai Warriors incarnation; big honorable guy who threw axes like a Getter Robo.

And I see the two new guys and Masamune has a connection with Ashikaga. Complete with the spinning weapons and triple katana wielding.

It's Capcom, it's Basara, they're usually going for a different design than the Samurai Warriors one. Like Hondam, girly Kenshin, super silent Fuuma, psycho Mitsuhide, depressed Oichi, Sakon that doesn't look like Elvis Presley...

My surprise is that this is a first, everything else usually portray Katsuie as a muscular guy, this time it's a pretty boy. Then again, it's Basara, with tons of Yaoi Fangirl galore, I think we wouldn't be getting another burly muscular guy anymore.

Also the game's theme is about 'Sengoku Genesis', AKA 'Create Your Own Version of Sengoku Period'. Messing timeline is the game here.

lol Okay, I get it. I remember now XD

Speaking of which, he latest 3DS Samurai Warriors has a Yagyu Jubei (Not sure which one) and the person he's based on is usually portrayed as a villain; like the one in Onimusha Dawn of Dreams.

Still, even though they sometimes mess up the chronology, Basara usually have good stories. SB 2 was a good example, since the original only has conquest mode.

Kinda wish the original roster have more different attires. Hell, maybe a guest star to spice the game even more, like Asura?

That's Munenori. And likewise, I'm glad that for a change he's not portrayed as an utter prick. Onimusha isn't the only series that made Munenori a prick, you know. This page has some listings of it.

Since BASARA isn't restricted to follow history more closer unlike Musou, liberties can be taken and I'm glad with how the story usually goes. Still, I was pretty mad when back in 1-2, Ieyasu was made into an ineffectual kidnap-prone brat. Once he gets out of that role, he's awesome. Even Word of God said "I think I wasted Ieyasu's potential back in 1 & 2..." so he's probably making up to it.

SO who's been playing Basara 4?! I know I have and it's awesome! C'mom guys, let's talk about stuff like character nuance's you've found like Nagamasa's instant power up's and how you can cause extra explosion in his third R2 skill!

Okay I'm sorry for revving this topic, but well so far there has been a new Gaiden Game announced titled 'Yukimura-den'. It features the other two Sanada family members Masayuki and Nobuyuki. However, Word of God says it will be a sausage fest. There won't be any female characters.

... Wow, great job, Capcom and Koba. Way to cater those Yaoi Fangirl crowd. I mean, I know in history women rarely fight, but to toss away those who appreciates female characters, like ME... way to fuckin' go. Fuck this shit, I'm out, I think I'll stick with Musou from now on (although Ieyasu and Masamune are way more awesome in SB)

Yes, I know I'm hypocritical because I actually enjoy an all-female cast. And enjoy a majorly male story like Jojo

To be fair the only girl I could see having any role would be Oichi.

The new girl from 4 has commitment issues and Maria x her is already a better ship. Especially because she freaks out when Maria tries to marry her.

As much as I enjoy bishoujo, I don't expect them to do much in a yaoi franchise like this.

If they blatantly admit that this is going to be a complete Boys Love thing from the beginning and not churning out things like an actually pretty good rendition of Oichi, I could have taken it better. As of now, it's like a big middle finger to those who have enjoyed those ladies.

So there's gonna be a new game coming out, and Sanada Yukimura takes center stage.

Also, his father Masayuki, and brother Nobuyuki will make their playable debut in the game.

... Damn, those two looks crazy.

Chris X: This is Yukimura's story though. I can understand being more upset if it was just Oichi's story and they didn't include zny other females since we know her sister in laws are both assholes to her.

I was just using Oichi as a general example. I understand that this is Yukimura's story. But the statement that there won't be a female, along with Basara's reputation of having tons of boys love intonations... it just ticks me off, it's a middle finger to those who like female characters. Naotora has some minor links to Yukimura thanks to her immense anger to Shingen. She didn't make it. They could have added Komatsuhime/Inahime due to her being Nobuyuki's wife and Yukimura's sister in law, and last I heard, Nobuyuki is going to play a big role. Won't happen. There's also Yukimura's wife, Akihime, who also happens to be Otani Yoshitsugu's daughter. Won't happen.

If you notice the Basara fandom, you'll notice that most of them seems to just want teasings and Foe Yay stuffs between Yukimura and Masamune, the most popular pair. And they will definitely deliver, no matter what they have to screw off: Historical accuracy, or even female characters. And if you look at it, treatment to female characters... well they're not really stellar anyway: Most of them are either dependent on their mate (Nouhime and Matsu), gender flip from another historical figure (Magoichi), or fictional (Kasuga, Itsuki). It's like they just want to cater to the LGBT fans while the hetero fans get a middle finger... I mean, I'm not an anti LGBT guy, but if you want to appease the LGBT fandom, I think there are better ways than giving the het fans a 'Fuck you'.

With this, I think it is no secret that SB is going to the path of Chromosome Casting Boys Love series. Not my cup of tea, but I would've taken it better if they weren't like this in the beginning. Sounds like a lot of Unfortunate Implications to me.

Shouldn't give up hope, though. They DID fix Ieyasu from his embarrassing portrayal at SB 1 and 2, into his more awesome portrayal in 3 and so on. They can do this again... but I'm not sure.

You want historical accuracy in a series where Oda Nobunaga literally became a Demon King, his sister was a reanimated corpse controlling demon hands from hell, and Tadakatsu is a gundam Cyborg?

I honestly think you are over reacting. I don't freak out every time I see Oda and Sengoku era figures as girls so an all male story doesn't cause it either. But continue on it won't change anything.

Also ironically the most BL I've seen always have females in them, even if it's as a minor role.
