Agreed — we can almost certainly find a better illustration, anyway.
Yes, definitely. The example I always think about with this image is Torchwood. They're "top secret", but they have a clearly marked SUV and they get pizza deliveries. This example, and the others that fit the description, were moved to Open Secret. So too, should the image.

Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.Move.
Check out my fanfiction! It's been moved. If anyone has any suggestions for possible images for this trope, fire away. Otherwise, there really isn't much to do here.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes. Here's some options.

The first one doesn't make sense, and as for the other two, this is another one of those that we can't do without some words, isn't it?
I don't see a way to avoid it.
6.1 works and gets the "everybody" part across. 6.2 doesn't really.
Neither of them is all that clear an illustration, I think.
Bumping (mostly out of boredom): is anyone familiar enough with Dragon Tails to find the Lemuel-crushing-on-Firewing example? Maybe that will be the lucky example with a good image.
None of these have the picture (as opposed to text) really showing anything about the trope. I say to keep Blank Until Pretty Kick Ass Image Suggested.
I think that's reasonable.
I disagree, the expressions in 6.1 do help in showing the trope, and I suggest we use that image.
I think 6.1 works. The text is a little unclear, but that aside, it clearly illustrates the trope.
Check out my fanfiction! It illustrates that the girl is ashamed of the other girl because of the wacky outfit? How do we tell what it is that everybody already knew?
Seems like someone would have to willfully misinterpret the dialogue to get anything but "the non-secret is that she is gay" out of that.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I think 6.1 is better than no image. It gets the point across well enough.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.I'd vote against it, honestly. The dialogue seems kinda clumsy to me, actually.
I need to take a look at the source comic for 6.1 and see if what's happening off-panel in the second part would make the bottom make more sense.
Comic. The missing lines are Mecha Maid saying "How do you think that makes me feel? Is holding my hand in public that goddamn terrible?" and Spinnerette saying "Mecha Maid ... please..."
Nothing that really affects the delivery in my opinion.
Thanks...that makes less sense than what's currently in the pic, so that means less work for me to rebuild it.
Clock is set.
I think we should crowner this.
Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
This trope just recently went through repair shops, and one of the things that came up is that the image isn't actually an example of the trope. The image is actually an example of an Open Secret, and I suspect that it has contributed to some of the misuse that plagued Everybody Knew Already before it was renamed.
I propose that we move the image from this trope over to Open Secret.
