I wish it didn't cost money to use a special fusion.

Go and recruit those demons again! Probably a cost effective measure but not a time consuming one.

I had a similar experience with Burroughs- Turns out, she's Palutena with a reverb effect.

Currently trying to figure what to do- I'm in Shinobazu Pond in the Ueno district. The animation for a successful Mudo is rather creepy- The target just collapses into a pile of dark red carbon matter.

Also, checked the Hey Its That Voice. So, Flynn/Issacar is Henry, Walter is Chrom, Jonathan is Kellam and Isabeau is Marie. Heh. Oh and what's-his-green-scarf-jerk is Akihiko but I picked that one out quickly.

I just got to Tokyo, and it looks like the game's really about to open up. It's kinda difficult to navigate the overworld map, but then again I'm not a native. The map music's pretty neat, though.

I'm currently trying to grind some healing skills onto a Hua Po so I can fuse it off into a Jack Frost.

Alright! Got through Kasumigaseki. The Tsuchigumo took me a little by surprise, but I had learned Zanma, so eh. Found a Security Card and some equipment there, too, including the Black Demonica. I kinda like running around, looking like a member of Jack's Squad.

EDIT: Arrived in Shinjuku, after some wandering, and met with Lucifer Hikaru. She's pretty good at playing the ditzy high schooler.

Off to Ikebukuro's Bookstore!

I'm curious on who the VA is for Hikaru. I noted that it was the Fe MC in Japan so...just curious.

Going into this game blind from a SMT standpoint, anything I should know before diving in?

Where the heck is Orthrus at? I've been looking for him in the second floor of Naraku.

I want to say I found him on the third floor, actually. Either way, if you see a stationary pink-ish enemy, that's him.

Turns out I shouldn't have reloaded a old save as I forgot I hadn't accepted the quest to fight him on that one yet.

By the way, you'll see a quest for hunting down some Macabres in the 3rd Stratum of Naraku fairly early on- Avoid it for a while. You're actually hunting down Calamity Hordes, and after killing three, David shows up.

It's a very nice thing I put that one off until Burroughs said I would be okay to take it on. Even on teh easy mode, it was a fight. Hard fight. Tiring fight.

Trying to get as many sidequests done before I cross the river.

Ok, so apparently Atlus decided to make the Demon Negotiation system even more luck based by penalizing you for meeting all of a demon's requests.

No joke, I just tried to recruit a Griffon, gave him everything he wanted, only for him to call me a "coward" for never saying "no" and halve my press turns.

It's random.

Literally, it's completely random now, instead of mostly random.

I know that now. At least Strange Journey generally gave you a good idea on what the demons like and dislike based on their personalities.

4 is still a good game though, though MUCH harder than any SMT game I've played before. (Yes, Nocturne included)

So just like Strange Journey. Cause half the time the choices I used to recruit a demon once didn't work the next time, or the time after.

I dunno, I don't remember having nearly this much trouble recruiting demons in Strange Journey or Soul Hackers. It definitely feels more randomized to me.

Dammit, I really need to keep saving, as I just ran into an Oni that spammed Critical Rush or whatever it's called to wipe my team. Normally I'd just reset so as not to owe Charon money, but I didn't want to lose the demons I'd just fused...

Anyway, I beat Wu Kong despite being five levels weaker. Bufu all the way.

I just hope someone on gamefaqs or a similar site posts an alignment guide soon.

Just so you all know there are choices that have a higher chance of working with a certain demon than others. Of course it has a chance of not working, but it has the highest chance possible.

Also ending talks when giving a demon some stuff will sometimes have them join you. Chagrin joined me twice when I answered questions the same way and ended talks after giving her some stuff.

Well, dang.

Going through Shinjuku, I took up a mandatory Challenge Quest to kill the seven Corpses around the area. After finishing the last one- Hama works, as does Fire- A Hunter showed up, rambled about the Ashura-kai being dicks, then popped a Red Pill and... Turned into a Dullahan.

After the dust settled from that craziness, I kept it up and moved on, to kill the demon that's taken over the local government office.

Kuebiko. That new earth giant thing. I was given the choice to either kill it or not. Went with option one for now...

EDIT: Ha, no. Kuebiko was mopping the floor with me, and he had a decent point compared to the Ashura-kai thugs.

Harpy Horde instead!

EDIT EDIT: With the Jirae Charm I was gifted by Kuebiko, I can now proceed to Ikebukuro!

Geez, Xi Wangmu was kinda disappointing. Just Force her to death after the Ring of Gaea's members are eaten and spirit-punch her in the stomach, and you're golden.

Ikebukuro's underground is really barren, having been abandoned by the Ashura-kai. Aside from opening the Terminal, not much to do there.

Fuck you, Nozomi. Stop using skills that Asura's strong against! I barely made it through that battle by the skin of my teeth!

Where IS Asura, anyway? Or those Insane Hordes? Can't seem to find either of 'em, and yes, I do have the quests accepted when I look.
