[up]Getting no experience at all? Are you using the grimoires given to you or are you not managing to take out the Mitamas and other assorted enemies?

I've just used the Grimoires.

Those are pretty useful.

I have not been able to take out the Mitamas yet. They've always managed to run before I could get them.

I should have figured they were worth the most.

I haven't figured out how to hurt them yet either.

I did get the data for Odread though, so it's pretty cool.

The Mitamas have a trick that the game doesn't tell you about. You know how, when a demon Whispers a skill to you that you already have, a little +1, +2, etc. appears next to it on the menu, and it gets stronger? That's what they're vulnerable to. The maximum is a +8, which usually can kill the Mitama instantly.

So, guys, right now, after barely three or four days of play, I have reached Level 23, with 60 Agility, 49 Magic, 31 Strength, Dex 10 and Luck 12. Flynn's skills are Zanma, Bufula +6, Mazio +4, Agi +5, and Life Drain +5.

The demons I have are:

  • Daphne at level 22, with Media, Bufula, Mazio, Hama, Agilao, and Mana Bonus.
  • Karasu Tengu, recently Transformed, at Level 24, having Gram Slice, Mazio, Bufula, Zanma, Mana Bonus and Maragi.
  • Archangel at level 19, I am trying to make this one Transform at level 22. Hama, Heat Wave, Bind Voice, Tarukaja, Dia and Bufu. I really hope I can, soon, change out Bufu for something useful.
  • Bai Shuzen at Level 23, has Zionga Mazan, Hard Worker, Media, Damascus Claw and Poison Claw.
  • And lastly Ictinike at Level 20, with Bufula, Agilao, Damascus Claw, Mudo, Sukunda and Resist Elec (that last one is weird, given it looks like Ictinike already resists Elec)

Does this team seem ready to head on up to fight Kin Ki and Peallaidh?

So I need +8 of an attack skill to kill them?

Those fuckers.

Not necessarily. If you have a multi-strike move like Critical wave, a ~+5 should work.

I'm not sure the Mitamas give "better" drops per se, but unlike the other enemies they're guaranteed to have good drops.

Damn. I don't have any Physical moves on me....but I do final have a slot for them. I'll do it. But I probably won't be killing them for a long while it seems.

[up]Mitamas are the metal slimes of the game, so if you plan to kill them, you need to be prepared. One thing to keep in mind is that Mitamas null Almighty damage and are highly resistant to most attacks you throw at them. +8 skills can usually drop a Mitama, or at least bring its health low enough so that one of your demons can finish it off.

Try to remember what weaknesses the demons accompanying the Mitama have (if there are other demons). Those demons can give you extra turns and hopefully smirks to help you deal with the Mitamas.

So far, I haven't found the weaknesses of the demons that are with them actually. Nothing seems to work on them.

Probably the only spells I haven't tried are Allmighty. And weirdly enough, even though I've killed the demons with them multiple times, I'm still not learning their weaknesses when I scan them, when usually, I find out what it is after one battle.

Something to note: the enemies in the DLC quests are demons that are Fusion-only in the main game. You can't recruit them there, unfortunately. This is because previous games had a "Light-Dark" axis that determined who you could and couldn't recruit. IV did away with that, but the demons that were formerly "Light"-aligned are still Fusion-only.

Yeah. I found out you can't recruit them when....I tried to recruit one of them.

I forgot about the Light-Dark Axis thing. I glad there are demons I can still get though. Guess I gotta start collecting Grimoires again.

They are gonna be useful for levelling up until I finally start getting App points.

[up][up]The demons that appear in the grinding DLC will never show their weaknesses when you use analysis; you need to memorize each demon's weakness. Thankfully, most of them are easy to remember.

I see. Well, I've tried Ice, Fire, Electricity and Force on all of them, and nothing seems to work so far. Guess I just gotta be more thorough. I know one is unaffected by Fire at least.

if you're curious about how the Light-Dark axis worked, Rob, Light demons tended to be more powerful, and were generally actual named gods rather than just critters, but couldn't be recruited in the field and had to be fused. Dark demons could be found in the field but were generally "evil" figures and would act like a Jerkass and refuse to join. Neutral demons were the more "generic" figures from their myths who are beneficial or, well, neutral to humans and would join without a fuss. I don't know if this'll return for V but honestly? I say dump it. Having some demons be Fusion-only is fine, but having some wild demons be non-recruitable just 'cuz feels to me like an unnecessary hurdle added just to be an unnecessary hurdle.

So thanks to Experience from the Afterlife, and the Grimoires, I'm at level 38, and I haven't even continued on with the plot yet.

I've been able to increase my slots for attacks for myself and demons, and got a few other abilities that I've been meaning to get my hands on, but have not had a chance to do so yet. That includes Hp regen, and Scout gift (yeah, I've been doing the game without this stuff yet).

Finally gonna get back to the plot I think. If I need to grind, I know where to go.

Also got my first app card in Experience from the Afterlife, which helped a lot with my app grinding.

Also, when doing a special fusion, I notice it takes demons from the compendium, but if you are actively using one of the demons required as fusion material, do you still lose it, or will it still be there?

I found the Counter-demon base and the Terminal there, and got a buttload of challenge quests after doing it. I think I need to got to Ikkebukuro next (I think. There's nothing in the main quest about how to get there, so I'm going to do the other challenge quests until plot happens).

Not sure what to do next exactly, but I'll suss it out.

I just got done rescuing the Law bastards from the bird cages. Feel like a bastard having done that.

Well, now I am heading back down into Tokyo to get the Black Samurai again, as well as meet Tayama. My current team is Flynn, Virtue, Dionysus and Ose. I'd really like to get some Dyne spells...

I'd really like to get my hands on the DLC - at level 41-42, I should be able to handle the enemies in there.

Try to get Zouchoten. He has the first -dyne you're likely to encounter. And all of The Four Gods learn -dynes naturally.

[up]That page actually talks about the Five Symbols of the Constellations(Suzaku, Byakko, Genbu, Seiryuu, and Kohryuu). Zouchouten is one of the Four Heavenly Kings, whom I don't think we have a page for.

EDIT: Looking at the wiki, I see that all of the symbols learn -dynes, while only three of the Heavenly Kings do (Bishamonten being the odd king out). Shouldn't have corrected you.

I'm reasonably sure he meant that the Four Gods get the -dynes in addition to Zou, and thus, he was referring to five demons.

I sure said that!

So, its demon fusion time.

This time, I have a Yamawaro, a Hitokotonushi, a Zaccoum, a Sylph, a Kingu, a Kwancha, and Illuyanka.

I need to fuse something using these Demons before I fight Lilith. Flynn is level 57, so that's the max level for him. I'd like something nice and strong that can help me defeat Lilith.

What fusion can I do using these demons that will help in that?

Lilith is weak to Gun. Anything with Grand Tack should do swimmingly.

Hm, yeah, I am thinking of trying to bring in as many people with Tathlum Shot and Grand Tack as possible.

If I'm lucky, given how overleveled I am, I'll bring her down in one or two turns. Otherwise, she's a scary proposition, given her tendency for Gun attacks that inflict effects on you.
