I like the idea but feel like the image is too tall and the frames being different sizes weirds me out. 2x2?
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.25.2 is the only LOTR picture I like (it's the paranoid look on Bilbo's face as he fondles it that sells it), but I'd prefer to avoid using the same example as the supertrope Artifact of Doom.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableAlthough I like the idea of a collage, I still feel that my suggestion (Gollum alone) is enough (15 and 52.3). He looks as though he's seriously attracted to the ring, there. The one of Bilbo looks more like paranoia over the ring rather than just desire for it. 52.1 would probably do the job too, but I feel that the wide-eyed delight in Gollum's eyes tips the balance in favor of 15.
I may be able to make a collage of Smeagol staring fascinated at the ring over Deagol's shoulder and the ring in Deagol's hand below that, but I don't think it would be as good as one figure obviously delighting in the object he's holding.
(Edit) I took a look at the scenes I mentioned and I'm not going to even bother trying. The one of Gollum is clearly better IMO. It's not worth my trouble to even try to make a collage of the Smeagol + Deagol scenes.
(Edit) I checked the scenes of him holding the ring while falling. The only scenes where he's looking desirous have him holding his hands to his chest so you can't see the ring (the object of his desire).
(Edit) If image quality is an issue, I have a PNG format version I could upload. I'll do that if the decision is to use Gollum (15 or 52.3 - they're the same pic).

Absent-minded professor and Neverwinter Nights DMIt qualifies for both tropes, and the images suggested so far highlight pretty different tones and composition so itought to be fine.
We can definitely play with the collage or try different pics. I'm kind of curious about the png you have.
Here are PNG versions, first of the pic I originally suggested:
Then of an alternate which I don't think is quite as good because it's not so clear that he's holding the ring, or even that the round object framing him is a ring at all.

It's been nearly a week. Is it time to call for votes, or do a Crowner (if I understand the term correctly)?
Absent-minded professor and Neverwinter Nights DMNow it's been over a week. Bump.
Absent-minded professor and Neverwinter Nights DMThis is what I meant by 2x2 / frames all the same size (other improvements also):
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.
Works well enough for me.
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed. That's the best way of doing the LOTR images yet proposed. +1.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.34 works for me too.
Absent-minded professor and Neverwinter Nights DMI approve of that.
A few more votes and we can go with that.

Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Alright, it's up and tagged. Caption or no?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWell, one idea is to move the one already on the page to the image.
Check out my fanfiction!Yeah, the quote sounds like a good caption there.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAny other opinions here?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI agree with moving the quote. It doesn't actually add much as a solo quote, but when associated with the image it makes more sense.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.OK, it's done. Tag's adjusted as well.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThis is done, then. Hollering.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Nice job on this one. Locking up.
Well, technically two of them are the same, but considering that anyone who knows that would also know that the ring is a good example of the trope, I don't think there's a problem with that.
