Dwarf Fortress Succession Game III:Jawmetal

Have you REALLY turned the stereotypical Doom Fortress into El Dorado? That's hilarious.

I can forsee something horribly wrong happening eventually though.

I have played it about 4 years into the future my way. I spiked wealth too fast and it almost bit me in the ass. I lost a bunch of dwarves in the first siege. 6 from one military squad all equipped with steel but all still recruits. It was nasty.

I guess one option there would be to wall the fort in for a few years, so we'd get to train a proper military at the cost of losing our trading partners, though since we apparently have everything required to make steel, there's not much we need to trade for unless we actually want a baron and king.

I traded for steel there is no flux on site that I found.

So, I played the save a little, and like Tuefel, I got way too much dorfbucks too quickly, mainly from an artifact crown that had an image of our king's coronation on it. Not two months later, freaking bronze colossus.

Word from the wise, make sure you can lock that place down.

Good day/night to everyone. In the last month I have caught up with Waterburned and Beigeknife, and now here I am at Jawmetal, making my first ever post here, What a incredible road it has been. If possible, I would like to be Dorfed please, Cisel (or Cecil for the right spelling) A sword and Shield focused military dorf. No need for a unique title or anything but what I earn.

I hope for the well being and success of this fort and that much !FUN! and Fun is had by all. I Will continue to watch as the fort develops with great interest.

I'm gonna be away from computer for the next...two weeks? At least till the 17th. Please have a plot of some sort going by then? kthx.

Not only to get sent out in an expeditionary group to settle a new colony for the Mountainhome, but to be so fortuitously blessed with precious mineral and metal to boot? I must have been excruciatingly kind to a litter of kittens in a past life. Now all there is to do is sharpen my blades and prepare. Prepare for coming battle. Prepare for conquest! Prepare to have my name engraved in legends!...

Ok yeah that was a little arrogant of me, but hell. I'm excited. To quote the Trioxide family motto: "Dum hostes erunt lorem." "As long as there are enemies, there will be entertainment."

I'm waiting until I actually get Dorfed to role play this one. I want the profile of my dwarf so I can role play AS him/her, instead of as myself. If I like wolverines for their tenacity, I want to be acting like I like wolverines for their tenacity. If I hate some kind of metal we have lots of, I want to be saying, "Rotpar damnit! Why did I have to come here?!"

It'll test my skills to the limit.

I'm with Journeyman here - I'd like my dorf's profile so I can...tweak my RP appropriately.

If Condorito doesn't reprise his role as resident fluff-writer, then I likely will xD I would roleplay it without really knowing what's coming next, I love surprises. Especially surprises that justify the sheer amount of cluster-krutz bombery that I generally use. This being Dwarf Fortress, and a succession fort played by the Overseers of Waterburned and Beigeknife... Yeah, it'll be justified.

I wasn't saying anything against you, just stating my own position on the matter. I want to role play the character. If you want to write fluff, I'll gladly gobble it all up.

I know, man, that wasn't meant to be a retaliation or anything, man :)

I'm going to wait until I get to see the fort for myself before jumping to any conclusions. If I see any relevant engravings, I'll be sure to show a few of them.

Fishsicles should have it by now. If he doesn't, I'll take over for him, but I'm willing to wait a bit longer.

He said he has it and would play it last time I chatted with him in PM. If we don't hear from him by the end of the week we can prod him and see what is going on.

Also a friendly reminder folks that at any time you can pass on fort before your turn is up.

I may have a chance to fluff tomorrow, and if nobody says anything between then and now, I'm gonna lay down the beginning of a backstory. If not tomorrow, then on Tuesday. If not Tuesday...I lied!

Finally found a website service for making a web page that doesn't feel clunky and unfriendly. I will be putting up the last two forts on the website when I get a chance and replace the hotlinks in my sig line to the site. This will include downloads.

I'm already planning possible things to do for my term in office, partially to setting things up securely for everyone else in light of its current situation, and partially related to inconsequential stuff.

Well then, I'd better start planning out another pointless, grandstandy scheme that accomplishes nothing and slowly develops into a Plot Tumor.
