I know right?
Speaking of chainsaws, the player finally gets a chance to wield one! Groovy
Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?

Boy I sure hope IGN dosn't strike another Eight Point Eight with this one. Anyway, looks good overall I guess, Metacritic-wise.
Edit: Yes I will mind

The reviews are coming in! Here's one right now!
The Guardian gives RE7 5 stars (), calling it "a masterclass in terror."

Another well-made review, and with glowing praise as well. Karak from ACG
It apparently has no major hiccups on the PC either either, so I'd say things are looking good for RE 7.
Well, if the Steam demo is any indication, the PC version should suffer from little to none of the console versions' texture issues. So that's one primary criticism less.
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.I have to say Watching Max's resident evil 7 stream
That moment you plant the axe in Mia's neck in that fight with her... just that look she gives as she turns back to normal... Geebus
As I said. 100% Evil Dead, the remake in this case. Mia herself is probably intended as a direct reference by name.
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Bought this for my sis for her birthday. Watching her play it and I have no idea what the fuck is going on. I do know one of the guns is a Glock, thought.
So is it possible to keep your hand? Or is you losing it a story event?

Can I just say how awesome it is that we finally have a main numbered RE game that doesn't constantly resort to this?

I watched a let's play of the game and I saw that at one point, the protagonist watches a video tape and you can actually control the cameraman on the tape. That's surprisingly meta, especially for a triple-a video game.
Watching the tales will help you big time later in the game.

Mileena MadnessI think you're stuck with losing your hand. However, it seems like the losing your leg and reattaching it part can be avoided if you avoid the dad.
It's been 3000 years…HUGE SPOILER INCOMING. DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YA.
So... like, anyone's as bothered as me about Chris' appearance? I mean, he looks and sounds completely fuckin' different. He's nowhere nearly as buff as before, he looks waaaay too clean-cut (and actually looks younger, somehow). Also, the voice; why would he sound like that if, as far as I know, there's a RE movie in the works (or about to come out) that explores what happened between 6 and 7 AND has Chris, Leon and (!) Rebecca?
Call me crazy, but I'm guessing he's not actualy Chris.

Eh. Redesigns and voice actor changes happened in between nearly every bloody part of the series.

Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence. They were never as ridiculous as this would be. It's very likely someone posing as Chris. Some people think it's HUNK since "Redfield" looks like HUNK unmasked. I personally think this might be the bringing back of the Two Chris Redfields plot point that were in an old Revelations trailer and cut from the game. Chris also looks the same as he usually does in the upcoming movie, which would make his Resi 7 look just bizzare if it was actually him. Movie Chris also has the same voice actor he always has, while "Redfield" uses a completely different one

So.... anybody figure out how to make a projectile weapon out of your limbs yet? Cause I really wanna see this happen:

I'd also like to point out that, yes, there has been redesigns and recasting of a lot of characters, but, as Ukokira already said, it was never as extreme as this one. In fact, Chris and Leon changed voice-actors between games and I never realized it. I don't even hear the difference.
I'm 100% sure that this dude is not Chris.
Why does everyone hate me?

Finally finished watching the game via Markiplier's playthrough.
I kinda got spoiled by accident regarding Umbrella's involvement in the ending and someone referred to as "Redfield," but I still felt totally satisfied about the ending saying "Still don't believe this is an RE game? Boom. Umbrella."
All that's left for me is waiting to see if Yahtzee gives this game a good review.
As for the game itself:
I'd be totally content if Redfield was Chris, buuuuuut...different appearance and VA, referring to himself by surname rather than first name, something's up.
Sounds like we'll find out more in the Spring!
Actually, Capcom did say they had big plans for RE...perhaps "Redfield" is part of said big plans.
Finally, if it turns out "Redfield" IS an imposter and we see the real Chris, Real!Chris will have grown a Badass Beard (since that seems to be a trend if anyone's noticed)
He'd be in his mid-forties (at least) by the time we discover what's up, so I wouldn't mind a bearded Chris.
Just for clarification, the whole "Real!Chris sporting a beard" thing is based on how a few long-time video game characters who were making big comebacks seem to have a habit of growing beards, namely:
- Kratos in God of War (PS4)
- Marcus Fenix in Gears of War 4
- Ryu in Street Fighter V (technically Ryu's beard comes from DLC, so YMMV on how much of an example it is...)
Admittedly, 3 examples doesn't seem like much. But still, you guys see where I'm going with this, right?
By the way, I just remembered that we're supposed to be getting a CG Resident Evil movie that takes place between RE6 and RE7, so maybe we might get some answers regarding Chris' whereabouts there.
Sounds like a re-hash of how Ada Wong had an evil twin clone running around in RE:6.
I could accept all the stupid **** in RE without question or not dwell on it
but BIO ORGANIC CHAINSAW broke my disbelief
