Okay, I'm gonna cook up a Tactical officer who's even darker and edgier than misato... but played for laughs at first. Might even have a hardcore pet (like a wolf, tiger or bear) prowling around... and her beef with the angels is that she became barren as a teenager due to injuries sustained on Second Impact.

Sounds interesting. I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with. Also, if I could throw another idea out there, since it seems like we're going to have three NERV characters at the moment (the tactical officer and her two mission control underlings), we could try to coordinate and form a Freudian Trio. As the guy with the hardcore science background, my character would work well as The Spock. That might also be a good way for at least some of the pilots to go.

Speaking of pilots, kind of surprised we don't have more than just one at the moment. I assume Anno and Moerin are still working on theirs, but we would still need someone to claim Unit-00.

Popping in for 10 seconds to say I'll have a 00 pilot app in later today when I have time. Are we allowed to have a concept of the character beyond their mystery?

I would definitely expect Unit-00's pilot to have a clear appearance and personality spelled out in their bio. It's just that certain details of their background probably wouldn't be widely known to the other characters, especially the other pilots. As the GM, I would want to work with you on those exact details since they might affect the direction of the plot down the line.

Is the Unit-01 spot already reserved? I admittedly made a character with Shinji in mind a while back for a Hunger Games thing, and the best way for me to refine/improve my character concepts is with others' interaction. Though, besides Unit-01 are Unit-02 and Unit-03 reserved? I have a character that could work for Unit-00 whose' main motivation for her actions is for someone she cares about.

By the way, will you be using extra-canonical material and things that didn't make it into the original series?

• Name: Izumi Nabiki
• Age: 14
• Gender: Female
• Occupation: Pilot(Eva... um... an Eva. Open for any that are, um, open, to be honest)
• Appearance: This is probably the neatest she ever looks.
• Personality: Nabiki is a normally-quiet and somewhat shy girl who tends to stray away from human contact. This isn't to say she's totally without human contact, but she does not like coming into contact with strangers and tends to attempt to hide behind her books or manga in the event of encountering someone she isn't familiar with. Nabiki cares little about looking particularly neat or not. She has a tendency to be easily flustered or embarrassed, as well. She has a deep love of anime, manga, and games. In fact, almost all her time is spent in her room watching anime, reading manga, or playing games. It's in part because it really is simply her favorite thing to do, and also because she has a clear apprehension about the outside world. This is likely the result of some underlying nervous issues in addition to the impact that the death of her mother had. In addition, Nabiki has begun to come to terms with the fact that she is gay. She is incredibly nervous and unwilling to reveal this to those around her, but at the same time she feels very frustrated and repressed. She wants to talk to someone about it, but she's too nervous to talk to anyone about it.
• History: Nabiki's life was somewhat uneventful early on. The accident that killed her mother, however, deeply impacted her life. Nabiki became far more withdrawn, and unwilling to go outside or associate with even with her own father. While there is a small number of people she feels comfortable going out with, it still takes quite a bit to make her willing to leave her room. She has buried herself in fiction, and has only left her room to go to school or to purchase more of her favorite fiction. And even then, she will only leave when accompanied with someone she feels comfortable with. There are few people she feels comfortable around.

Moerin did say she was working on a pilot for Unit-01, although I may PM her about that if she doesn't post by this evening or so. That doesn't mean that you couldn't submit this character for 02 or 03 though. I believe that between the pilots I've accepted and the people who have expressed interest so far, we would have five pilots.

Regarding Unit-03 and 04 will these be the canonical ones and how will that work? I really have a specific character in mind for 00, 01 and 02 so telling me more about 03 would help me decide what to do for that. I'll probably go with 02 though.

Oh right, uh... My basic concept for my 01 pilot is a guy whose father is either dead or just abandoned the family once the mother died (seeing how this is Evangelion, the latter might work better) and who has had to look after his younger siblings ever since. He takes up the role of Eva pilot because he just wants to keep what's left of his family since. He's borderline insomniac due to having to look after his siblings and taking on part-time jobs whilst still having to go to school, and whilst he's okay with adults he's really socially awkward around kids his own age. He really wants to find a "mother" for his family, too, although he tries to keep that a secret.

Does that sound like a workable concept?

Really, I see 02, 03, and 04 being functionally identical as production models, along with 05 and 06, which are the ones held at the American branches in Massachusetts and Nevada and would fulfill 03 and 04's roles from the series, should we get that far. I haven't decided what to do with any higher numbered units than that yet.

Who decides how a character's Eva works/looks/etc and anything notable behind them such as main design elements or where they were created? I really want to know if there's any reason to choose one Eva over another or if it doesn't matter.

• Name: Musashi Hikaru
• Age: 14
• Gender: Male
• Occupation: Pilot of Evangelion Unit-01, in addition to a variety of part-time jobs.
• Appearance: Whee~
• Personality: Hikaru is a hard worker, and always puts his all into anything he does. This is both his greatest strength and one of his most crippling weaknesses, as he has been known to overwork himself to exhaustion on quite a few occassions. Although he tries to come off as rather warm and cheerful, there are very subtle hints of sarcasm and a chilling cynicism behind some of his words. He doesn't really care much about the fate of the Earth or mankind; the only thing he really cares about are his two younger sisters, as they are the only family he has left, and he will do anything to ensure their safety. Whilst he seems to be able to interact fine with adults, he is immensely socially awkward when it comes to childern his own age, as he not only has little experience with them but finds them rather difficult to relate to most of the time. Due to how he overworks himself, Hikaru is a borderline insomniac and finds it very difficult to get a good night's sleep. He's not going to say it anything soon, but Hikaru would really like to find a nice girl to settle down with, one who could act as a mother of sorts to his sisters; when it comes down to it, all he really wants is a complete family again.
• History: Ever since his mother died and his father abandoned him, Hikaru has had to work hard to provide for and care for his two younger sisters. This has taken quiet a toll on him, as he has had little time to socialize with children his own age due to having to split all of his time between caring for his sisters, working several part-time jobs to be able to provide for them, and somehow also still attending school. Whilst he tries to act like it doesn't bother him much, and such a thing is probably not all that uncommon in the post-Second Impact world, if he started taking on more responsibilities (say, piloting a giant robot to fight celestial superbeings, for example), cracks may start to appear in his demeanour...

I am going to assume all Evas are bipedal humanoids with access to a prog knife and a pallet rifle by default and interchangeable specialized equipment available as needed. So yeah, aside from 00 and 01 being slightly more plot relevant than the rest, it really shouldn't matter which one you pick. I suppose you can choose a color for your Eva different from canon if you want to customize your appearance a bit though.

Presuming Anno's character pilots Unit-03 I'll like to have Unit-02. I'll write up the application later, though how much is this like the anime and will any other material be used for the RP?

The Angels will mostly be the same as they are in the TV series, possibly with some modifications to account for the fact that we have five Evas instead of three, though as I said in the guidelines, not all pilots will be involved in every battle. I haven't worked out exactly how every single battle is going to work yet, but suffice to say in some instances the setting of the battle might be entirely different, or the Angel might ultimately be defeated in a way different from how it was in the series. I'll likely stick to series continuity for the most part, although I want to do the Ramiel battle like it was in Rebuild at least. Obviously, the different characters will mean the stuff that happens between battles won't necessarily be reminiscent of stuff that happened in canon. The living arrangements and social interactions can be completely different, and I already have some ideas for NERV-mandated team building exercises we could do.

Have you already been P Med a 00 application?

Not yet. I'd still expect 00's pilot to have a character sheet posted here by the way, just with all the spoilerish bits of their history kept vague or left off. But I mean, if you want to PM me the idea first, go right ahead.

• Name: Captain Dragunov Kukiko

• Age: 29

• Gender: Female

• Occupation: Chief Tactical Officer

• Appearance: Kukiko owes her height and build to her russian inheritage, standing well above the japanese people at 6'1'' with toned and curvaceous features. Her japanese inheritage shows prominently in her face, with almond shaped eyes and an overall youthful appeareance. She's a natural blonde with fair skin and blue eyes. Her hair is cut short in a caesar cut. She has a large surgical scar in the abdomen. She also wears multiple earrings when off duty

• Personality: Kukiko's brash personality greatly shocks those of Japanese upbringing. While it seems that she's aware of all the proper japanese mannerism and that she, in fact, does know how to behave properly if needed, she just doesn't care about candy coating things. However, it is undeniable that Kukiko's temper is not for show: She can greatly endure the stress of the battlefield and organize tactics efficiently, and very little seems to be able to set her off. Even though, she is far from perfect. Kukiko's very frustrated with social bonding, as she can't stand certain aspects of socializing and her attitude more than often scares people off. She is afraid that, in that sense she's becoming like the dominating father she used to despise. Another sore point is her inability to have children, and how much it gets in the way of forming stable relationships. She's known to have a liberal, wild-style out of the job, with one-night stands and drinking people under the table. While it doesn't look like it, she's got a great sense of humour, which sometimes drips as dry remarks on duty, and messing around with people off duty.

• History: Kukiko is the child of a wild lovestory. Her father was a Russian-born Spetsnaz turned aide of the Russian ambassator in Japan. A self-admitted Japanophile, he eventually took as wife a Biologist named Hina. However the love-dovey story soon began to sour a couple of years after Kukiko was born. Her own father's mood darkened and his temper flared more than ever at home, which put his own wife and daughter under stress and a dominating appearance. He became obsessed with each aspect of the two women's life, up where the meals were prepared. But that was just the start. When Kukiko was seven,his father disappeared overnight, a dry letter being left bedside, which only her own mother was able to read before breaking in tears. Her mother's temper darkened, and Kukiko was often neglected or be sent to her bedroom with snappy remarks. Her grades dropped, and her ability to socialize was stunted, becoming some sort of a wild tomboy over time. When puberty hit, Kukiko became the center of attention, and not in a good sense. She became a gang leader and tales of her promiscuity were heard.

Until a sudden return from his father surprised the teenager, and a friend of hers, in his bed. Half naked. Both mother and father were left speechless. There was no yelling. There was no beating. Instead, her own father simply told her to pack her belongings. She was going to be sent to the Ural mountains, his homeland, where her hot head would chill.

Kukiko wanted to reply, but the gaze of her own father simply cut her short, and she did as ordered.

She spent a year in a remote, god-forsaken place with snow all year, rough life and wild animals. Kukiko's attitude was slowly but surely chipped away by the harsh lifestyle. Although both of her grandparents were harsh with the girl, they also cared for her greatly. Kukiko opened up, and asked what was wrong with his father. Her own grandfather huffed, and only said a single word.

"War."

And no more words were spoken. Kukiko still demanded more answers from the old man, but he never bulged. Until one day she shouted at him, and threatened to walk back to civilization. Her grandfather wrestled her calmly out of opening the door, and sent her to her own room. The following dawn, she was roughly waken by the hardened russian, and handed her a rifle. He told her they were going to hunt, and he'd take a no for answer. Kukiko followed, only to find a single ensnared deer who was trying to get out, to no avail. The creature looked pitiful.

And his grandfather ordered to shoot it. She hesitated, for all her violent behaviour she had never killed, beating people up yes, but never killed. The old man just grabbed the rifle from her hands and shot.

"...War is this. But with people."

He curtly said as he handed his rifle to the teenager and began to skin the deer. The gristly event cut her bratty attitude short. Kukiko became silent, pondering, rereading each attitude of people with a new fresh mind. And before she knew, her grandparents simply hugged her, and told that she could go back to where her parents were, and that she was welcome to rejoin them anytime.

It was the year 2000. And she arrived to a much livelier homestead. In her absence, both parents had reflected on their attitudes, and they were making a fresh start. Her own mother had scored big, an Antartic expedition of some sort, which her own father joined as expeditioner and logistics support. And they extended their invitation to her daughter.

It all seemed like a happy ending. And then, Second Impact happened. Chaos, mayhem and destruction. Her own father, deathly wounded, but refusing to give up on her own daughter, prompted by the words of her own dying mother to carry her to the evacuation area. The events were all blurry and confusing, Kukiko had sustained a grave wound in the abdomen, but she could remember two things from his father. His honest apology, fueled by rage and tears of not being good enough, and cursing a certain name that would become engraved in Kukiko's mind.

SEELEE.

Kukiko survived, but the grave wound in her midsection left her barren, unable to have a family again. And she raged once more. Against the world. She was rehabilitated and studied enough to become a soldier, and partake of wars that erupted like wildfire in the postapocalyptical world. The words of her grandparents sounded in her ear, and not in a good way. She never hesitated. She never questioned. She was swift and deadly, the Art of War was always by her side, instead of corny novels.

And one day, she realized, she had become her own father. She was approached by NERV, formerly Gehirn, who claimed to have been an acquaintance of her mother, and announced theirselves to bring hope to all mankind. Kukiko joined in, if only to atone for her past misgivings.

Kukiko can speak Russian and Japanese very fluently, as well as english (albeit with a thick accent) and a dash of German.

And now an NPC

Name: Akuma

Age: 8

Gender: Male

Appearance: Akuma is a rather large wolf with black fur and(it's theorised he's got some dog ancestry in him), which often walks with an aloof and silent gait. He's missing his left eye. He also wears a spiked collar.

Personality: Akuma honors his name, but not in the way one most would think. Sure, he's intimidating and wolflike, but he likes to screw around in a uncannily smart way with people. He just loves to sneak up on people and poke them with his cold nuzzle to see them yelp, or to blatantly ignore his master's orders. He also likes to mess around with other pets, and steal food. However, if the chips are down, Akuma will fiercely protect his master Kukiko in any sense.

History: Akuma was a black cub with a wounded left eye found in the wilds by two children and sold to Kukiko by bartering for food rations. The grizzled woman took pity on the cub, and nursed him to health(even though his eye had to be removed), and has stuck as pet by her side ever since.
