Because it's usually used for high-suspense serial dramas like Twenty Four and Homeland. Family Guy had a really funny parody on this type of opening. Seeing it on a show about cute little ponies is funny. The caption is making fun of that.
Oh, I never noticed the Pot Hole. The same opening is used for all of their two-parters, so the image is not necessarily about Discord. The Pot Hole can go.

Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed. No idea what the caption does. Ditch it.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanYeah, throw away the caption. The image works just as well without it.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.I think five fairly strong pull votes (since I'm making one) is enough to ditch an awful caption. Culled.
I also don't think one is needed here. The image is fine, but as pure text I don't think many captions would add to it.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Agreed. A caption on a picture that's already just... text seems unnecessary.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I think this is a very weak image. It's basically JAFAAC without the face.
Shall we brainstorm a bit for potential replacements? Such as this one, this parody, or that one.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Nah, the image is fine. It was really just the caption I didn't like.
Moon◊Yeah. It's nothing better than "fine", but it's fine, and the suggestions would be hard to do nicely, as far as I can make out.
It's not JAFAAC sans face; that requires that the trope cannot be found from it/it's an example but that's not evident in it/etc.. Just a caption, sure, but not Just A Caption.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. The trope is about the message line frequently titled "previously on". So it's not JAFAAC.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI'm fine with the pic as is.
As am I.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.It looks like a title card. "It's all text" ignores what the text looks like.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. It's good that it looks like a title card but that does make it all text and that text doesn't really add anything to the title of the trope. I'd like it better if it had with it screencaps of ponies as if it was bringing us up to speed on the story.
I do not see what that has to do with the trope, either.
And "all text" is more than a literal complaint.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe image is fine on it's own. There is a pretty good consensus on it. I think we can close this thread now.
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.I think the image is fine. I've hollered at the mods to lock this thread, so presumably the only left to do is wait for it to be locked.

Pinball cleanup thread
The image itself works great.
The caption, on the other hand... well, the more I look at it, the more I hate it. I'm usually all for captions, but in this case, can we nix it? I'm not even sure one's needed here.
