Since when has AOT been made of broken promises and controversy? XP
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987Hmm I wonder :P
Mileena MadnessI just got into this series and I already love it. It's my first 'mature' anime since RWBY and Dragon Ball Z.
Misaka instantly became my favorite character after I found out her backstory. Eren is cool but he's too hot headed. Misaka brings him back down to earth and helps keep him sane.
Armin is okay, but he was kind of whiny for my tastes. I really like Sasha and John though.
You can't get it wrong if it's the truth! You should like Armin more in later stuff. Notable decrease in whiny-ness.
First: It's Mikasa, not Misaka.
Second: Ha!
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! You. I like you. Although it's actually spelt and pronounced "Jean," like Jean-Luc Picard (the walls are located somewhere in Europe, most approximate them to be in eityer Germany or a part of Europe with strong German influence).
But yeah, Armin, Sasha, and someone you'll meet later on are my favorites.
A word of warning: like the thread title says, this thread is specifically for the anime; we have a seperate one for the manga right here, so if you decide to read ahead, be careful to not drop unmarked spoilers in this thread.

PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyArmin is more of a planner aka chessmaster then a fighter. This becomes much much more important later on and he's honestly one of my favorite characters for it.
If Eren and Mikasa didn't have Armin then they would of died a long time ago multiple times over. Do you know who basically told Hannes to go save Eren and Mikasa from the Smiling Titan? Yeah that was Armin.
Armin also saves a lot of lives with really ballsy plans. He's a proto-Erwin....
Formerly known as Bleddyn And I am feeling like a ghost Resident Perky GothHonestly, I'm not sure Mikasa is the saner of the two.
She actually isn't, Mikasa gets really irrational herself if Eren is in danger.
Formerly known as Bleddyn And I am feeling like a ghost Resident Perky GothWhich is basically all the time.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Mikasa is many things. Sane is not chief among them.
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheySo, finally started watching this anime...only a few episodes in and I see this is the same universe as World of Tanks and humans don't come standard with eyes.
Seriously, your opponents are giants, how the fuck do they keep attacking your cities completely by surprise? Does nobody look?
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984Welll... if you're talking about the Colossal Titan, there's a pretty good reason why they didn't see it until it was near the walls which will be revealed later on.
The other titans are about 10 meters tall while the walls are 50 meters tall, so you can't see them from inside. The guards standing on the top of the walls can see the titans constantly swarming around major cities, but there's nothing they can do about it.
The point is that everybody knows there are always titans around their cities (the four walled cities exist for the very purpose of attracting most titans around them, since titans are attracted by high amounts of people), but the only thing they can do is trusting the walls. Which makes sense, until the Colossal Titan appears literally out of nowhere.

The Colossal Titan just sort appeared out of an explosion both times. How is explained later, but for now it's clear that it doesn't need to openly walk up.
I am now one additional bloodbath episode into the series, and now I understand everything.
Our species just sucks ass in this series
I think if you gave these guys Abrams tanks they'd just shoot each other instead of the titans. Or mount grappling hooks on the things and throw them at high velocity through their own buildings.
Just to be clear, the purpose of the omni-direction widget is to feed yourself to the enemy in the hopes they leave when full? I guess you could strap bombs to the literally fodder solders and try to blow up titans from within..
I'm surprised they successfully built the walls without immediately crushing the cities beneath them.
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984You're making a lot of assumptions here based off of basically no knowledge. The thing is, for all of their training, the rookies are still just that and have no experience actually fighting Titans that can very easily kill them in one hit. If a human receives basically any hit from a Titan, they're dead while Titans only go down if hit in a very specific place. You have the lack of experience, the stress and fear that always comes with battle, and the fact that they're One Hit Point Wonders and of course a lot of people are going to die.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Yeah, but I'm just enjoying poking fun at it. It feels like a series that should culminate in a Curb-Stomp Battle Downer Ending by episode 10. "Everyone's determination and training meant absolutely nothing and they all horribly died. BAD END"
Betting Mikasa was the first person to ever kill a titan, and somewhere there's some scientist who goes "Oh, the weak spot thing actually worked?".
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984The first titan kill happened pretty much by accident, but that's explained in the prequel Before the Fall.
Oh shit, I probably shouldn't have laughed so hard at the guy shooting himself, but...
"What good would that do?"
BLAM!
I blame this.

PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyFinished the series, my opinion on it is of no interest or value.
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984Wow, wow, wait a minute. Does that visual mean that the current arc will be included in Season 2?
edit: …Oh, wait, that might actually be from volume 11-12… Nevermind. So yeah, I'm still betting on Historia's crowning for the end.

I suppose that isn't impossible, but it's almost certainly just an evolution of season 1's artwork of the Colossal Titan grabbing the wall and staring down Eren.
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyAwesome! I wonder what crazy changes the anime will make to the storyline this time. Maybe they'll try to spice up the political arc?
Doubtful. They already have the perfect ending for season two with chapter 69.
