Don't we already have a thread for this? Or was it intentionally split off to separate the anime and the manga?
Yeah, people kept discussing Manga spoilers in the other topic.
These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.Oh, good. Finally a thread for this series where I can tread without fear.
So: I notice the girls in this series are far more interesting characters. Like, the first two episodes were all about how Mikasa was much cooler than Eren, and then Sasha completely stole episode 3 with her starved insanity.
I was about to comment on how Mikasa seems to be the only girl with lipstick (which begs the question HOW she managed to get some), then I remembered that in the anime Crista and Ymir have it as a design feature as well...
Request - please also put "Shingeki no Kyojin" in the title.
Plants are aliens, and fungi are nanomachines.Eh, for those who really care there's the manga thread, people are going to know about this through Attack on Titan.
These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.Just prefer to be complete.
Plants are aliens, and fungi are nanomachines.Because this thread's title just isn't long enough, apparently.
You need to translate the Gratuitous German title. Seriously, that has been a running joke between German fans.
"They are the prey, we are the hunter".
...should I point out the German is incorrect too? Meh, fansubs.
...even Funi used poetic translations?
/rolls on the ground
At least there WERE translated lyrics (though they tend to alternate with the romanji). Crunchyroll doesn't bother (though insert songs are fine).
Now, I'm curious on the character limit of the title.
Guess I should mention here as well.

Anime is boosting manga sales by a good bit. Last week it was about 20k copies per vol 1-9. This week, it's 35k average per volume.
Plants are aliens, and fungi are nanomachines.Anyone else in favor of more of those fluid 3DMG scenes? That shit just sells it so well.
I did naht.I wouldn't knock down the director for doing High School Of The Dead. It was well-directed for the most part (yes, yes, I know, boob matrix).
Me! Me!
Yeeeeesssss.
But..but...I want real jet packs!
Jetpacks would be highly inefficient. 3DMG actually works the muscles, as stated in an information panel in the manga. Jetpacks only propel you through the air, and would likely be hard to steer.
(Agender. They/Them pronouns.)3D gear IS a type of jetpack. You can fly on it, no?
Geezus, the mental images of them straddling 3DMG while yelling like cowboys. X_X
I did naht. But they don't run on rocket fuel or use rocket technology.
(Agender. They/Them pronouns.)Yes, they do. They run on stream propeller.
-insert Hank Hill reference here-
I did naht. It's more like what Spiderman does than flying. Or more like Batman's grappling gun.
Plants are aliens, and fungi are nanomachines.
This spring, an animated adaptation of the Sleeper Hit manga Shingeki No Kyojin (Attack on Titan is the official English title) began airing. We already have a thread on it, so this is for venturing in if you're new to the series and don't want to be spoiled for a few dozen chapters down the line.
So what is SNK? Short version, Day Of The Dead had a baby with Shadow Of The Colossus, Berserk was the godfather, and he inherited Spider Man's powerset. Tense, dark, scary, totally metal. Long version...
It's been over a hundred years since the titans rose, giant, twisted humanoid monstrosities with an insatiable hunger for tasty, tasty people. Humanity is almost extinct, pushed back into a tiny city-state whose huge walls are the only thing keeping the ravening, mindless hordes outside from getting in. Eren Jaeger, living in the frontier townlet of Zhighanzha with his adoptive sister Mikasa Ackerman, dreams of the world beyond the walls, little suspecting that it may come knocking first...
The anime is produced by Wit Studio, a subsidiary of Production IG (responsible for basically every big-budget anime you've ever heard of). The director is Tetsuro Araki, who was responsible for Black Lagoon, Death Note, Highschool Of The Dead, and Guilty Crown (we'll try not to hold those last two against him), and the music is by Hiroyuki Sawano, who also did Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn and Guilty Crown (two shows with fuckawesome music, even if the latter was terrible in almost every other conceivable way). Crunchyroll has the rights for the show, and they air it on Sundays at 8:00 GMT.
Here's the trailer:
Also, the internet has listened to the show's opening theme and dubbed it way cool, leading to rapid Memetic Mutation and a whole army of mashups. Here's three of the best:
Mashed with a Bollywood musical.
Mashed with Hellsing Ultimate.
Mashed with Pingu.
Finally, yes, there are potatoes.◊
ALSO, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DO NOT POST MANGA SPOILERS IN THIS THREAD. AGAIN, WE HAVE ANOTHER THREAD FOR THAT.
