How is this slice-of-life? It's mostly absurdist comedy, most recently focusing on the joke that all the mermaids are millions years old for some reason.
Oops. Got that fixed.
Episode 4: Meet the Yeti and a harpy. Cue birds vs fish.
Episode 5: Hilarious.
- When this show does Gag Boobs, it doesn't screw around.
- Random sea urchin: "I like to get to the point." XD
- 14 year-old Takkun surpasses this god-knows-how-old mermaids in maturity and cunning. Mermaids to bait like moths to a flame.
Takkun is quite mature for his age, much more than half the over nine thousand old half of the cast. His answer to Muromi's question is quite good actually
Realy? It looked like LOT of screwing to me...

Despite being a screwball comedy, the world of Muromi-san seems to be a world where All Myths Are True, though mostly ignored or forgotten by modern people like Takkun. Heck, it looks like we're actually getting Otohime from the Urashima Taro myth next episode.
The fact that they are fucking prehistoric in age is kind of frightening.
And funny at the same time.
I'll quote something a comment on crunchyroll: "The creators of this are either idiots or geniuses."
Please spay/neuter your pets. Also, defang your copperheads.Probably both.
Episode 6: Introducing Otohime.
Probably a budget-saving ep, there was a lot of stills. Still nice to look at, though.
Episode 7: Drugs Mushroom fiesta.
Episode 8:
- Muromi loses to penguins; Leviathan has to drive them away. We get to see her giant serpent form!
- A seal that for once isn't some acquaintance of Muromi's. Muromi also loses to that seal.
- Muromi traumatized coelacanths on a genetic level. Her psycho face in those scenes was awesome.
It was a nice change that for once Muromi was not using Takkun as a meeting place
The problem with the episodes being short is that there is not much to discuss about them.

Episode 9: We meet Wiseman. Among other things, he taught the little harpy net lingo.
Funny how the nutjob who taught the Mu Empire their hypertechnology somehow managed to escape the wrath of the gods eh?
It sounded like he didn't intend for the Mu people to use their technology that way, so he was let off with the command to never directly interact with humans again.
Episode 11:
- New character Masuda, your regular store manager, who treats the mermaids just like regular ol' human customers.
- Otohime gets some cool lines, including a vaguely ominous exchange with Levia-san.
- Takkun flexing that charisma by treating Otohime to a popsicle.
- "No matter the dream, there comes a time when we must wake up from it". Rather poetic words for the coming final episode.

Ran into this and it's actually pretty funny. Doesn't hurt that the opening is kinda catchy. Obviously low budget, but they did a good job with it. Don't mind the short length as it makes a good break actually.
all of episode 11 fell flat for me. just wasn't very funny. I look forward to next week, since it looks like we get more Fuji-san
I don't think it was supposed to be funny, especially given Otohime's current situation.
I noticed both episode 6 and 12 are the Fuji san episodes.
You look happy, I can change that if you want.Episode 12: Gag Boobs character is grotesque D:
I wonder if Muromi torturing Fuji's breasts would look like to a girl. Like they might see it as the female equivalent of a guy seeing another guy get kicked in the balls.

That's what it feels like to ME, and I'm not even a woman.

Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san is about a young boy who one day encounters a mermaid while fishing.
Thus unfolds what is, basically, an absurdist comedy with mermaids. (edited)
Mermaids with epic backstories.
Episode 3: Hilarious episode regarding Muromi's Mesozoic-period heartbreak and her resulting hatred for all things that, despite having lungs, have the gall to live in water. XD
