I am kind of glad that Deathlock is out of commission. I sense a death coming, so it is better that he is out of the way to turn up again next season. Hopefully as permanent cast member (which will most likely never happen...all his stuff must be expensive to apply).

Being all gung ho in attacking the Inhumans more or less just because they exist is probably going to bite him and his organization in the ass badly.

Especially if Coulson and co. subvert his "authority" and go on their own to solve the situation peacefully.

[up][up] Not really. It's all a costume that's already made with all its gimmicks, and some heavy SFX makeup. While of course I doubt the creators would be forced to follow The Daily Show's route with the Surrendering Croissant/Liposuctioned Jabba/Victorious Cannoli and the Whale Week, Deathlok could, potentially, see some more use.

Yeah, I think J. August Richards said that it takes about 45 minutes to apply the makeup and costume, which is a shorter time period than Lorne's makeup in Angel and he was a full-time cast member in the last season.

The makeup may not be expensive but the special effects for his weapon systems and such could be.

Re: "Wait, would Skye be old enough to really know who Sonic is?" Chloe Bennett is apparently only 23, and Sonic hasn't been particularly relevant in a long, long time. On the other hand, Skye spent a lot of time with computer nerds, so it's reasonable to assume she had at least a couple friends who were obsessed with classic video games and basically forced her to play (or watch them play)."

Um... I'm 27 and know who Sonic is.

"I'm starting to wish I hadn't eaten that Hot Pocket earlier!"

I kinda feel bad for Kara. Brainwashed by Hydra, and from what we've seen, possibly brainwashed a bit by Ward. She's obviously developed feelings for Ward and then.... he just takes off.

I'm liking Maya Stojan more and more. She started off as just some random tech whiz on Castle, but finally here's Agents of SHIELD, showing at least some acting chops she can do.

Um...I'm 20, and I know who Sonic is, so...I see no reason why she wouldn't.

Define "long time". Because Sonic was pretty popular in the early 2000s, as far as I can recall.

Yeah I'm 21 and I know Sonic, sure he might have drifted out of popular culture but I don't think Sonic has ever stopped being a reasonably big part of gamer culture.

BTW, anyone think Simmons might have a Start of Darkness thing going on?

Definitely.

Though if she'd killed Ward, it would have been a Kick The Son Of A Bitch type moment.

Despite agreeing that Ward deserved to die, I am a little scared for the direction Simmons is going in.

I've been thinking about that - Coulson found 33 and Ward awful quick, didn't he? Maybe the real reason Ward ditched 33 to keep SHIELD off of him.

anyone think Simmons might have a Start of Darkness thing going on?

That would certainly be an interesting route for the character, but what's the fun of Evil!Simmons if I can't say "SIMMONS, AGENT OF HYDRA"?

She did say "my only loyalty is to science" as part of her cover. Later, she wanted Raina dead, not captured. Tried to kill Ward by herself. Threw herself out a plane to save everyone - she's a "cut to the heart of the matter" kind of person.

So, in regards to Skye's fighting skills, I did have a thought: She's Inhuman. In an earlier episode, we saw Gordon throw Cal pretty effortlessly, and in the previous episode, Lincoln seemed to be able to hold his own against Deathlok. And Raina was pretty damned quick and vicious when she attacked those SHIELD scientists, too. So it's entirely possible - maybe even likely - that Terrigenesis comes with some level of general physical improvement, making people stronger and faster. Also, because Skye was in a heavy combat situation, she may have switched to a kind of "autopilot," which may have also led to her subconsciously tapping into her powers just a little bit, for spatial awareness if nothing else.

I think she's just that good, but hasn't had a chance to show off until now. She's basically been acting in May's place for the entire season, while May has been mostly confined to base as Coulson's second. Seriously, she's the designated heavy hitter for every mission she's been on. Who took on 33 (the second time)? Who was on overwatch against Blizzard?

[up][up]I've just assumed that baseline inhumans (so even before terrigenesis) on average are slightly better than a baseline human. You know, more endurance, speed, picking up on training faster, and the like.

[up][up]Coulson and May apparently thought she and Simons were fine on their own, alone with Ward and Bakishi. I doubt that confidence was due to Simons, so maybe Skye really became that good.

That's what I got from that scene. Agent Skye is a BAMF and we weren't given a full display of it until now.

Man. That no-cut action scene with Skye was so much more impressive than the one in Daredevil.

I'm glad no one's upset she shot Ward, and man I wish Bakhshi hadn't interrupted Simmons. As entertaining as he was in this episode, and as relieved as I am that he seems to genuinely care about Kara's wellbeing, someone needs to get revenge on him.

So I just realized why Ward is the way he is:

His family, as he stated, broke him down. His brother forced him to torture his other brother (so he says), his parents never cared. The reason Garret was able to influence him is because Ward was looking for a father figure, and a real family. First Garret and then his fellow Bus travellers became that family he never had.

He regrets what he lost because it's something he's wanted his whole life. So it's only natural that he's focused on that.

Also, the Tear Jerker or Heartwarming page points out that his feeling for Kara (and his genuine desire to help her) may prove that he could be redeemed, even as he ironically states that he's not good enough to help her.

Does he still deserve to be shot? Fuck yes. There is no other end game for Ward if even Simmons is willing to murder him in cold blood. There's only one way things will go for him, and it's only a matter of how he gets there. Even he knows it, or if he didn't after Skye shot him four times, he does now.

That's why he's getting as far from Kara as possible, so that she doesn't get dragged to hell with him.
