That would place the movie around 2003-2004. Let's hope the animators remember that.
I remember back when I was first got the original DVD, I saw some demo footage Pixar made for the film that had Dory swimming around in the dentist tank. At the time, I actually thought that it was preview footage for a sequel where Dory gets captured and is placed in Nemo's situation from the first film. It's funny how life plays out like that.

Nemo's got a lot of cut footage in the trailers. The "we're looking for Nemo!" clip by the sharks, for example.
Well, six months without Nemo being an adult by now confirms these animals age in human age terms, rather than actual animal terms. Mind, the opposite is not unheard of in animated movies, either: Madagascar's protagonists and Lady and the Tramp are examples of that.
Pixar has unveiled two of the supporting cast◊, a beluga whale named Bailey (played by Ty Burrell) and a whale shark named Destiny (played by Kaitlin Olson, known for playing Sweet Dee on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.)

"Pardon me, that extremely loud and extremely deep voice you may have just heard. It was me. Oh, it is such a long story..."Okay, Pixar, it's been cute until now, but you don't really have to make every underwater creature friendly helpful. I know you usually have problems handling villains or don't particularly care about them, but still, the phrase 'the big fish eats the small one' exists because of a damn good reason.
The anglerfish in the previous film was still pretty scary and predatory, as was the barracuda.
I honestly had forgotten the barracuda.
Whale sharks don't eat blue tangs, they eat krill
Oh look, krill!
I don't think people think "fierce Big Bad predator" when they think of beluga whales and whale sharks. Whale sharks in particular, are pretty much the Gentle Giant of the animal kingdom. People can swim next to them without being in much danger.
In my opinion, if you wanted a whale Big Bad, you might want to go with a sperm whale or maybe (at the risk of being stereotypical) a killer whale.
"Pardon me, that extremely loud and extremely deep voice you may have just heard. It was me. Oh, it is such a long story..."The script was actually rewritten to incorporate themes discussed in Blackfish, so I can't see an orca being a villain.
Peace is the only battle worth waging.I expect there to be threatening, scary villain fish that the marketing hasn't revealed yet.
Or perhaps sharks that haven't embraced a fish-are-friends lifestyle as a counterpoint to the trio from the first movie.
The original took place off the Australian coast didn't it? There are plenty of deadly things they haven't used yet.
Blue-ringed octopus

Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youSea snakes and the saltwater crocodile as well.

Peace is the only battle worth waging.Oh. I thought that was just an old trailer for the original movie, looking at the thumbnail.
The blinking joke amused me the most.
I can see the Blackfish influence.
That's some hella Black Comedy there...
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youI can't say the trailer fills me with much enthusiasm. It kinda just looks like the same thing all over again.
x2
I read somewhere that it picks up six months after the original.
