I disagree. Picture was made when the work in question was squarely in this trope, and illustrates it effectively. The caption illustrates that it was ultimately saved from it, yes, but that doesn't mean it wasn't an example.
Keep Until Better Image Suggested.
Moon◊If something is an example of Saved from Development Hell, it's also an example of Development Hell, since that's the supertrope. It doesn't require things to still be in Development Hell. Thus, it's still an example. It fits better on Saved from Development Hell, but that doesn't mean it doesn't fit here.
Check out my fanfiction!Okay, so let's remove the caption. The image is a decent illustration of dev hell (Keep Until Better Image Suggested, at least) and the caption doesn't add any to that.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!I love the current image. Although it is an example of Saved from Development Hell, the image does not illustrate that, and it is only in the caption. I think the caption can stay since the image is clearly Development Hell and the caption is trivia.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Ditch the caption, keep the image.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI'm good to lose the caption. Its content can be moved to the Web Original section as an example.

I, too, am in favor of keeping the image and removing the caption.
+1 = -Caption
Check out my fanfiction! As the guy who added the caption, I don't particularly see how it detracts.
Moon◊It draws the focus towards Saved from Development Hell, rather than plainly Development Hell.
Check out my fanfiction!I don't think that's a huge issue... could probably pothole the subtrope to point out that that's technically separate, though. Something like

Moon◊No, not a huge issue. I just think it's better without. There's also enough text in the image as it is.
Check out my fanfiction! And I'd rather have a caption. We send enough images out without captions; I'd rather not get into the habit of pulling ones that just need slight fix-ups.

Moon◊I can live with that as a compromise.

@13 is a compromise. I would pothole it to Sarcasm Mode, though.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOn the contrary, I think we have too many images with a caption. All too often there's an image that illustrates the trope perfectly well on its own, and somebody feels compelled to caption it with an Incredibly Lame Pun, or a Captain Obvious statement, or something that contradicts the image. Generally speaking, an image without a caption is better, imho.
At any rate, it's no big deal either way, of course, but I think a simple majority in this thread would be a fine indication of whether or not to keep the caption.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Agreed. That goes especially for images with text in them. It often just feels redundant and adds clutter to the page.
Check out my fanfiction!I tweaked the caption. But I also agree that it probably doesn't need one in the first place....
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Clock is set.
Like I said before, I'm fine with the caption removed.
I'd much prefer to strike the caption and have the reference either moved to the Web Original folder as an example or taken to Saved from Development Hell.
Caption removed per the above comments.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! But I don't want the caption removed.
Moon◊
The current image is a poster for a game, with a number of dates slashed out, and underneath them, the phrase "We'll see..." Underneath is the caption "November 2008." Therefore, the item in question is not an example of Development Hell, but rather something that was Saved from Development Hell. So the image and caption actually fit the subtrope, rather than the trope itself. Can we get a different image here, something that represents something that actually is in Development Hell?
