I kind of like it as it is. The expression really says "don't mess with me" and for me it says Plucky Middie. But I did a Google Images search for that character to see if he pops up on deck and showing more of the uniform. Have a look. [1]

Less expression, but the uniform is actually visible and distinguishable for what it is, especially the second. For this trope, I think "middie" needs illustrating more than "plucky".
