And that's such a bad thing?
Because when a con is released they're suffering a massive environment change and could easily slip back into crime instantly without proper guidance.
Going from prison to freedom is a big jump, it goes a lot smoother if a person is eased into it via parol.
I had the impression that the goal of parole is to watch ex-cons (and reassure the rest of society) rather than help them reintegrate society. In effect, parolees are under surveillance and can be sent back to prison for violations, something that definitely doesn't help them reintegrate. The fact that many potential employers will reject ex-cons also makes it harder for them to find a job (which is why there are organizations dedicated to that).
A group of Pakistani clerics have issued a fatwa declaring honour killings as against Islam.
Good on them, although I'm not terribly optimistic on this accomplishing more than previous Pakistani government declarations.
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotWell, it really depends on how much influence these particular clerics have (I understand that islam is pretty decentralized as a religion, somewhat like protestantism), and what other clerics say on the matter.
Re: consent that was discussed earlier.
Many debates were made. And then Thames Valley Police released an absolutely perfect explanation on how one should behave.
I've seen the "Sexual Consent and Tea" comparison before but it's nice to have it in video form now.

Still a great "screw depression" song even after seven years. That video has been around for a couple of years at least, but it's still a great video.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickThe House of Commons just passed the final version of the Bill that aims to make O Canada gender neutral. Now it goes to the Senate; where it should pass but probably not before Parliament goes on its summer recess.

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. So I took a look at a comment section for a female gamer youtuber (on a joke video that was clearly not meant to be taken seriously).
....And my god I take everything I said earlier back. Yes there is a lot of misogynist fuckwits in the gamer community judging by these idiotic comments that are indeed aimed towards her gender (and anyone using their brain is called a whiteknight of course). Kind of sad when I thought that maybe just maybe that some people would just actually use there brain for once....
But I digress, onto the topic of that recent rape case. Apparently the judge for that recent rape case got called in for another one...and then was tossed off the case by someone higher up and a few jurors refused to work with him.
So yeah.....lightening the sentence ended up seriously backfiring in the Judge's face.....

Even cat videos can turn into complete shitfests there.
Inter arma enim silent legesBile Fascination is literally the only reason I look at Youtube comments nowadays. And yeah I am aware of the youtubers that turn off the comments like Total Biscuit (he has an actual stress disorder that was caused by the comments).

Formerly known as Bleddyn And I am feeling like a ghost Resident Perky GothFrom an analytical standpoint, You Tube comments - like most online platforms that are not heavily moderated - are completely useless. I mean, what are we even supposed to learn from them? That people are dicks when posting comments anonymously?

Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen. The sad fact is facebook and youtube prove it does not even have to be anonomous.
Though at least it results in laughs when some variety of bigot gets fired/divorced/a visit from the authorities when it gets out.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. It's less about it being anonymous and more about it being disconnected from any consequences. We're anonymous here but we still fall in line, because there are consequences if we don't, many people on social media are assholes because even though they're not anonymous they face no consequences for their actions.
I came across this image◊, with the caption "20% of women lie".
Are there more and greater detailed on a topic I don't really want to Google?
Which topic? How frequent masturbation is among women?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWhat a shitty caption. TBH I'm more surprised there isn't any men who said no.

Read my stories!Shouldn't it be obvious that instead of being the result of any kind of actual study, it's just a joke/troll image from the beginning? (Anything that gives a statistical percentage of 100% on anything is extremely suspect at absolute perfect best.)

So the 19th century medical industry in the U.S. played a significant role in getting abortion banned, and justifications about having more children (both religious and racial) were presented after the fact? Way to go, guys.

I should point out that release partway though a sentence is done for good reason, if you don't do it then the police can't impose any limits on a person after they've let go. Parol conditions can only be imposed because the person's sentence isn't up, once the sentence is up they're legally free and aren't on parol.
Otherwise you end up with cons walking out of prison free as a bird, able to do whatever any other law abiding citizen can do.
