The earliest version had 5 examples. 15 wicks and 32 inbounds.
I think that this name suffers from being dialogue and not having enough links from related tropes.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe name is really bad. It needs a lot of wikimagic loving, too, but the name is bad.
Deadly Dropped Keys? Dropped Keys Delay?
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I like Deadly Dropped Keys. The other sounds a bit awkward to me.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI kinda like the first one better, but the drop doesn't always result in the idiot du jour actually dying, which might throw off people who see "deadly" in the name and think it's a required result for the trope to apply (cue editors fixing all the Not A Subversion stuff that misunderstanding causes dropping many a Cluster F-Bomb about the ignorant tropers responsible ).
All your safe space are belong to TrumpDangerous Dropped Keys, then.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI don't think this is an all that common trope to begin with. A rename might help a little. Otherwise mainly just try to find more examples and make it more visible, I suppose.
That name works.
Check out my fanfiction!Dangerous works for me, too.
Even have a possible variation in mind once the name thing is sorted out, from the first season of The Walking Dead.
All your safe space are belong to TrumpCould we fit the word "fumble" in there? I think it's more descriptive.
Rhymes with "Protracted."That implies it also includes fumbling with the keys, like trying to find the right one, or fitting it properly into the keyhole. Is that included in the trope? Doesn't seem so in the description, but I think it's functionally the same.
Check out my fanfiction!Like Dangerous Key Fumble. But with a new name, still needs more examples.
More examples for a trope is always nice, but there are enough examples on the current page that Too Rare to Trope doesn't come into play.

All your safe space are belong to TrumpWith fumbled keys, it's likely you'll find the right one in the last moment.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAnother vote for Dangerous Key Fumble. If someone really, really wants to, they can take it to YKTTW to try to collect more examples, but I don't think that is absolutely necessary.
I vote for that if the definition is expanded to fumbling and not just dropping.
Check out my fanfiction!Flipping my support to Dangerous Key Fumble.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanYeah, Dangerous Key Fumble looks good here. Can cover both the deadly and non-deadly (find the right key at the last minute, just before the monster gets the key user) versions, while minimizing Round Peg Square Trope and Not A Subversion issues.
All your safe space are belong to Trump- 1 vote to Dangerous Key Fumble from me.
Another from me. Nohbody makes a good case.

^ Kinda unwieldy, and not at all making it clear it's about fumbling keys.

These are all awkward-sounding, I'm afraid.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman
Crown Description:
Vote up for yes, down for no.
The article says that this trope is used often, yet there's only 9 examples on the page. Could be as easy as editing the description, or to find a lot more examples.
