Went ahead and cut Heihei and left a link to this thread in the edit reason. Thanks, all.
Sasuke Uchiha was included in Anime & Manga.

As divisive as Sasuke is in the English-speaking fandom, I could've sworn the guy was still popular as hell in Japan, which would immediately disqualify him from being The Scrappy.
Looking at popularity polls, Sasuke is pretty much consistently in the top 5. No way is he a Scrappy.
Okay, thanks.
He is also a main character so he can't be no matter what. Americans Hate Tingle yea.
Moot point in this instance, but you're thinking of Creator's Pet. The Scrappy can be a main character.
Sasuke has plenty of fans on this side of the pond as well; too many to count as The Scrappy.
I think that Heihei is totally a Scrappy example. Generally everyone hate or consider him the weakest part of the movie; can you show an example of Moana fans that like him?.
I like Heihei. My friends in general found Heihei to be hilarious. This person also likes Heihei.
In short, I don't think that the vast majority of Moana fans actually hate Heihei. Unless you can show proof that a vast majority of the fans hate him, he doesn't count as The Scrappy.
"Show proof of a majority" won't happen, since it's an audience reaction trope to begin with. It only needs to be somewhat common.
I think it has to be more than "somewhat common," because "somewhat common" could still mean the character has enough fans to be a Base-Breaking Character rather than The Scrappy. I think you'd need to show the the hate is much more than just "somewhat common," otherwise practically every character with a very vocal hatedom would be The Scrappy, which isn't what The Scrappy is supposed to be.
If you can't convincingly argue that it's a significant majority hating the character, then you don't have an example.
Check out my fanfiction!I removed Nowi and the Taguel from Fire Emblem for the following reasons:
- Nowi seems to be reasonably popular, considering she got #22 on an official Fire Emblem popularity poll containing over 700 characters. Also, that bit about her "contradicting Tiki's last-of-her-kind status is WMG, since nowhere in the game is Nowi confirmed to be the same sort of dragon Tiki is.
- Entire groups cannot count as The Scrappy, and Panne also scored high enough on the poll (#94) that I don't think she can count. Yarne scored around #186, so he's still somewhat high up on that poll.
I thought they had already been removed? Seems like the Fire Emblem Scrappy section comes up every few pages on this thread.
Not surprised that Fire Emblem comes up a lot, seeing how a lot of their "Scrappies" were probably added during a time before the definition of The Scrappy got tightened up.
It seems to come up all the time in regard to complaining "tropes" in general, really.
A ban evader also caused issues with it, so that's part of it.
If entire groups can't qualify, that means the Dawn Brigade ought to be removed. Not sure Eliwood is really all that unpopular either. "Not as good as the other main characters" =/= Scrappy.
Eliwood's reception is lukewarm at worst.
Where there's life, there's hope.I personally think the Dawn Brigade should be taken off the page too, since entire groups can't count. If people want to make a case for individual members of the Dawn Brigade, they're free to come to this thread to discuss them.
Also agree that Eliwood should probably be count. Not really seeing a "hated by vast majority of the fanbase" with him.
I removed Eliwood and the Dawn Brigade. It looks like Validar and the Grimleal were also removed (were they removed and re-added at some point?)
I am also thinking Sonia Reed's entry may need a rewrite. As-is, it says that she may be a Hate Sink but is hated for the wrong reasons (wearing revealing clothing) rather than her actions, but it doesn't mention what those actions are (presumably referring to being an assassin and a terrible mother).
Grima and Validar were commented out. Grimleal cannot count due to being a group, and I'm not sure Grima counts due to scoring around #121 on the Fire Emblem Heroes popularity poll, putting it above characters such as Raven, Alm, and Arvis.
Cut Sonia. The entry is a weak one, and the fact that it acknowledges her as a Hate Sink yet still tries to say she counts as The Scrappy without elaborating makes it seem like shoehorning.
Cut Sonia. The reasoning is super weak.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?I also removed Sonia. Should Ninian get a rewrite or be removed? Her entry says that the hate for her has died down over time and is mostly complaining about shipping.
If you have to specify it's the critics who hate a character, it's probably not an example. It's possible, but we'd need a good argument for it. I'm good with cutting it and referring to this thread for potential re-adding.
