I think the blood works, actually. You don't have blood splattered like that for no reason. If you're not fond of gory stuff, you probably don't want to know where it came from.
Check out my fanfiction!Yeah. Aside from those suggestions being perhaps too graphic, I don't think they fit the trope. The idea is that you see the blood or similar splattered about, but nothing more, including where it came from. Showing the wrist and blade defeats that.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. On another note, those images could go in the Bath Suicide IP thread going on now.
I'm pretty sure they were already suggested there, hence the OP mentioning another thread.
The current image doesn't appear as though it is being discrete about where the blood came from, though. It just looks like someone sneezed. In that regard, at least, the suggestion is better (though I'm not sure it's better overall).
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableOr maybe it's just red paint.
Check out my fanfiction!Gory Discretion Shot doesn't mean that they're being discreet about where the blood came from. The discretion is in not showing the actual injury that caused the blood taking place.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Exactly. Thank you.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableIt seems very strong to me. The whole idea is showing a blood spatter and not the actual violence.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. That's it exactly, Rodney. The descretion being exercised is not showing what caused the blood. The current blood spatter is a stronger example of a Gory Discretion Shot than the hand, blade, and blood is, because it shows ''less' of what happened.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.The current works well enough for now.
"It just looks like someone sneezed."
If someone were sneezing blood, and you just hear an "ah-choo" sounds and blood spatter against a wall, that is totally a Gory Discretion Shot. Just less gory than other sources of blood spatter.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Clock is set.
Current's perfect. Minimalist, but illustrates the trope pretty perfectly.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Critiquing the current image, I'm no C.S.I. but it's lacking directionality to convey that it was actually from some attack occuring at a location X.
So it's not bad, but we could probably work out something better.

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Clock's up; locking for inactivity. No action is to be taken based on this thread.
I saw this◊ image◊ being suggested in another thread, but I thought it'll probably fit this trope. The current picture in this trope is just some blood on transparency. It does nothing to hint that something gruesome is going on. It's just... blood.
I've known about it since the beginning. But I just refused to believe it.
