I feel that it's unwise to overgeneralise. Great villains can be great for many reasons, and it's hard to assign any common categories to all of them beyond 'they are well-written'. A great villain can be an Anti-Villain who you almost agree with, a heart-breaking Tragic Villain, a terrifying Hero Killer, or an utterly despicable Complete Monster, depending on the requirements of the story and their role in it.
