For the same reason they gave fucking EA exclusive rights to Star Wars games for a decade: Disney doesn't know what to do with videogames.

You guys know how Sony announced at their E3 2016 press conference a new full-fledged Spider-Man game from Insomniac Games for PS 4?
Do any of you think it couldn't have been possible if Disney didn't end Infinity?

But Disney doesn't own the rights to Spider-Man (they had to negotiate with Sony for him to appear in Civil War).

IIRC, Disney owns the merchandising rights to Spider-Man (hence why shows up in pretty much every crossover video game) as well as a few other super heroes. That being said, I don't think Infinity had anything to do with it seeing as how the cancellation seems to be a recent decision and the new game looks to have been development long before that.

I heard that Disney Infinity was cutting into Star Wars Battlefront sales, so Disney has decided they only want ONE Star Wars game series at a time from now on.
I've got Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash, Spyro, and Paper Mario fanfics.
I mean, I don't know if it's true, but it's what I heard the last time I googled "Why is Disney Infinity cancelled?"
After thumbing through some articles, I see the point now.
Well the first thing I thought was that Battlefront was an first-or-third person shooter and it should be targeted at older audiences. Whereas Infinity's main audience was the kids.
But then EA simplified Battlefront to have a wider appeal. (Which hurt that game, but yep.)

I doubt any of you guys still care at this point, but I just have to share this because of how off-the-wall this character choice is:
Avatar?? In my Disney Infinity? Apparently it was more likely that we thought. Jake and Neytiri apparently were considered for inclusion in order to tie into Pandora and the new Avatar attraction at Disney.
I can't say that I'm a big fan of the movie, but I would have loved to have seen what they could have brought to the table in Infinity.

Saw all the DI stuff marked down at Best Buy yesterday. All the figs were 8.99, except for Judy strangely, who was 9.99. Decided to get Baloo. Toy Box Speedway was 29.99, I think. Or was it 19.99?
