The English website which has a really long PV and English character bios.

The CG looks far more Aikatsu style CG than the original Love Live stuff, I do not really like it that much.

[up]

Take note though, Aikatsu's CG got ridiculously better as the seasons went along. Was it confirmed that it was the same Sunrise studio doing the shows? Because that could explain things.

Aikatsu was Team 5, their more 'aimed at kids' studio which makes stuff like SD Gundam, before it was passed off to Bandai's in house studio. While Love Live was Team 8, their 'Moe' studio.

The CG in Love Live was really good, especially the movie. The trailer just looks as off as Aikatsu's starting CG sequences especially in the facial movements and eyes.

The dub of the original two seasons is coming out in like a month, and besides the fact that they're not dubbing the songs we don't know everything about it a month before launch.

Watch Kotori just be dubbed with actual bird noises

So the dub will be airing tonight at 9 on the Mnet channel.

Such an obscure channel I had to look it up.

When I used my guide on my box, the title of the show is just 'featured artist'.

I'm surprised Umi isn't Cristina Vee (that seems like the most obvious choice) and that Erica Mendez isn't Kotori (she's obsessed with the Birb on Twitter)

Also how did this even get a TV deal (even if it's some deep cable channel I've never heard of), and why did they only announce the premier like a few HOURS before they go live.

To be honest if you told me Love Love was gonna air on American TV a week ago and asked me to predict the channel I would've guessed MTV to be honest because A. MTV was about music years ago (they've been "not the music channel longer than they've been the music channel) and B. MTV is trying to retool itself into "the fandom channel" (after previously being the music channel, then the Jackass channel) with them airing "fandom oriented TV" Teen Wolf and that Jon Favreau show I keep seeing ads for and their Twitter/Facebook accounts constantly talking about "fandom shit" like Sherlock and Supernatural and C. Love Live combines both of those things (Music and Internet Fandom) so I dunno.

Edit: This channel is so obscure I'd have to drive an hour to Syracuse with some dude who was FIOS to watch it. Hell, I know a fuckload of dudes who go to 'cuse U but they don't get FIOS there and none of them like anime. Hell even something like Fuse would've been a better channel since even though nobody watches it in this day and age I'd still get carriage by SOMEONE. (now I miss the days when Fuse was "emo tv" tbh :( )

Looking at their website M Net seems to be a K-Pop oriented channel with some rare J-Pop and that timeslot is apparently for 'featured artists' that not even the cable networks know whats going to be airing in that slot.

[up][up]I would've guessed Nickelodeon, but the fact that it's on American TV at all is crazy. I'm starting to wonder if Germans Love David Hasselhoff is a factor here.

Also I'm kinda raising my eyebrow at Laura Post as Nozomi. I'm used to thinking of her as voicing the fanservicey, Contralto Of Danger-type baddies, not some wise mentor-ish figure in high school.

[up]See? Not even Verizon can believe this.

[up][up]It probably was some "Featured Artists" slot that got changed at the last minute. This entire thing comes off as a really last minute decision tbh.

I'm thinking the contract NISA signed with Lantis/Sunrise/ASCII Media Works said they HAD to get a TV deal, and they either forgot about this or some existing deal with another channel people ACTUALLY watch fell through so they did something with this M Net at the absolute last minute just to fulfill that part of the contract.

[up]Nah LL is too "dorky" for something like Nickelodeon/Cartoon Network, and it wouldn't fit Toonami either.

[up][up]Nickelodeon is currently airing Miraculous Ladybug, which is pretty much the most basic Magical Girl show ever made, so Love Live didn't seem like to me of a stretch to me.

Love Live isnt Magical Girl at all. Idols and Magical Girl are different genres that occasionally cross into Magic Idol Singer.

Also Love Live has certain objectionable jokes for kids such as Nico's thing of ending up running into Nozomi's breasts whenever she is storming off.

IF anything Aikatsu would make it on nick if that was ever dubbed, it would require the games to come over first though.

[up]Virtually nobody has Mnet dude. Hell they don't even have nationwide coverage, just a few stations in a couple of selected markets.

Hell if they wanted to try and expand the audience honestly the most obvious thing to do would've been to make it a "Netflix Original" like Knights of Sidiona and have Netflix promote the hell out of it like they did that crappy Adam Sandler movie. But again I suspect they were legally required to have a TV deal so they made this at the last second to not lose the license.

"Lose the license", you do know that the dub Blurays are out in a few days too right? They were not at risk of losing the license. If anything this is a promotional deal to get the K-Pop and J-Pop station Mnet noticed by Anime Jpop/Idol fans.

And you know it worked considering I now know the station exists. The K Rap thats airing right now on it though is grating as all hell though...

I missed half of it...

...screw it, I liked it.

Honoka's voice, while generic, was fitting. And Nozomi's surprised me. The rest were fine, but not notable in any particular way.
