Well, the girls do look very unfriendly - Alpha Bitch-y, which is part of the description:
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThat article is basically "cheerleaders are usually portrayed negatively: dumb, slutty, evil, or some combination. (Bring It On is an aversion.)
Surely there is something good in the examples. (No good pics out of what I am familiar with.)
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. Also looks like it fits Girl Posse which should be in the description.

Clock is set.
I find it interesting that the OP hasn't written since the OP. Anyway I think it's fine. They look angry in what appear to be black cheerleading uniforms.
Never heard of the show that pic comes from; but the girls wear something looking like cheerleader uniforms, and as Septimus Heap said, they look very Alpha Bitchy. Me too, I'd say the pic is fine.

"Your kindness gives me the presentiment I can be reborn. Now, I want to believe at least in you." - Kaori YaeI think that an image with visible pom-poms would probably be more effective. Unfortunately, the GIS examples are simply girls with pom-poms, they don't really explain the trope.
Pom-poms with alpha bitch faces?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMaybe this pic◊ of some characters from Glee?
They look pleasant.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. Not really feeling that one.
Clock's up; locking for inactivity/lack of consensus. No action is to be taken based on this thread.
Without knowing the work, I can't tell that the girls are cheerleaders let along what the personality is that's supposed to go along with the trope is. Can we get something that illustrates and looks more like a cheerleader? Maybe having them do something instead of standing there?
