Quite true. I just intended for the crew to realize this on the ship making a captive band of adventurers more likely. This almost fourth wall breaking way of making an unlikely character is tricky to pull off and the results are interesting as can be. For the sake of simplicity I would plead you go along with my next attempt to get out of the corner I've written myself into.

Out of MindOh I don't know, it's kind of funny to have the "heroes" completely ignore the call to adventure for a while in favour of doing whatever seems like a good idea at the time.
And I agree, I just don't know how long we can keep it up before the thread dies or becomes about something else. Not to mention this part usually comes right before the third act.
Out of MindAnd maybe the thread does become something else from what was previously planned. That's ok. I'm pretty interested in exploring this world — I'm sure you can introduce some really cool ideas, no matter what happens.
First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win.I don't think exploring this world of Victorian Literachoor for a short while before embarking on the main quest will kill the game, if anything it's a chance to flesh a few things out.
Should work but at some point I would like to get to the point where we can stoically transcend the many battle lines we have to cross very similar to the attitude taken in say, The good the bad and the ugly. If we get caught in every altercation between a growing world-wide war we'll stay here for nearly ever.
Also, I'm redrawing the route we were going to take because after this really deep, conflict of interest laden dialogue I can't see us going for what I planned earlier which amounts to island hoping and meeting james bond villains.

Out of MindI lied about writing something christmas related; decided the greatest way to get you people invested in apparently the least likable character ever is to add an A Christmas Carol arc. Happy Holidays and what not.

Out of Mindbloody christmas. normal posting will resume shortly.
"You are my future selves? Am I having a Mid-Life Crisis?" The War Doctor - Day of The DoctorQFT. T'is a busy time of year, when it's done we can post with regularity.
Was originally going to have us set sail a while ago, but now that we are staying for a while longer I've thought up the perfect villain. Wait for more posts and expect more wham episodes to come.

Out of MindI was about to post Edmund getting to the docks. But if there's something else going on, I will hold fire.
"You are my future selves? Am I having a Mid-Life Crisis?" The War Doctor - Day of The DoctorEither is fine, I'll probably just allude to the villain's presence and then we'll meet him upon returning to the mainland US. This first location is a mess to sort through and upon the second we should expect a bit more linearity.

Out of Mindsorry about not posting. It's been a little weird over the christmas and new year, plus I'm prepping for my practical driving test on thursday. Once that's done, I should be able to get back to posting again.
"You are my future selves? Am I having a Mid-Life Crisis?" The War Doctor - Day of The DoctorWith the season closing down I'm hoping we can kick up what has been slowly grinding to a halt. To do this I'll just give a bit of an ad as it were to clue you in on some ideas I have with spoiling as little as possible.
- A look at one of the 18th centuries greatest thinkers had they been raised differently. With this comes my own not too implausible religion.
- Explore the unnaturally selected fauna of the Galapagos, lorded over by a character who I have managed to make a four way reference.
- Accuse one of literature's most enigmatic characters of being a member of the supernatural horde. Seriously try to guess who.
- Holy Sympathy for the Devil, Kurtz has a backstory and a living reminder of it.
- We discover the agent that is responsible for this alternate timeline.
- Explore a little known form of government in 19th century America, with a rather disturbing comparison to children's literature. Probably just in time for the movie.
- We get involved in the Machiavellian atmosphere of the Eastern seaboard, we move from literature cameos to primarily politicians and scientists.
- All punctuated by a night at the opera. And that's only the first leg of our journey.
- There will be extensive research into the fine line between Lemony Narration and Wall of Text.
- "In Which Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness is used in the Archaic Chapter Headings."
- Sharper Dialogue with more room for interaction.
- Moral choices which you will either really love or really hate. They're about the caliber of Fable 3 if you have any opinion on that.
- No regard for efficiency as we trot the globe in a rather topsy turvy way, meeting locations that could come off as shown their work or hollywood atlas. Alternate history can go both ways.
- A crap ton of references to tidbits from Verne, Welles, Poe and other figures.
- Characters who I feel compliment yours.

Out of MindOK, having taken - and passed my driving test (woohoo!) - I will be getting back to posting.
"You are my future selves? Am I having a Mid-Life Crisis?" The War Doctor - Day of The DoctorAt some point this game should explain the disappearance of Ambrose Bierce.
(Sorry I haven't been active lately, I've been pretty busy with other things. And I won't be not-busy until the end of January...)
Funnily enough I have a place just for him. Thanks for the tip.
Out of MindAye, ah'm still here. Are any of you?
So, is this dead? If it's dead I may have to Start My Own rp with the same basic concept, as I don't want the idea to die.
@Vox Yeah rather sad, I had so many plans with everything from an undead Daisy Miller to a techno-Wagner to a a George Orwell style france now known as Panopticon. I assume I can't attempt the same thing as a Dungeonpunk.

Out of MindDamn. Well, I'll probably try to start my own LoES-esque RPG in a few days.
Yeeeeaaahhhh... this game is stone dead. If nobody minds, I'm going to try starting a similar League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen Victorian crossover game. Anyone interested?
Yes.

Oh, I don't know — I completely take him seriously.
As the token Butt-Monkey of the team, that is. Every group needs a clown.
First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win.
