The idea's nice in theory, but the limited production of the time means the sound quality's not going to increase much.

Makes me kinda sad that we won't get an English release of MOTHER 1, seeing as how not everybody can get their hands on the translation.

Just like how not everybody who wants to play MOTHER 3 has access to an emulator.

I'm starting to realize how much I liked Claus because one of my main characters in a novel I'm writing is heavily based off of him.

if you have a computer or a smart phone from this decade, you can play Mother 3 and certainly MOTHER.

Not legally, mind. But they're both a couple of Google searches a way, regardless.

Well, it's either that or don't play the games at all. Besides, the translations for Mother and Mother3 by Tomato are good enough that you really don't need any other localizations.

Agreed, if No A does finally decide to release MOTHER 3 I hope that they use Tomato's translation. Its quality is astounding.

Yeah, I was shocked at how good the translation for MOTHER 3 was.

I read on the Trivia page for MOTHER on this wiki and it said that if MOTHER 3 ever gets a rerelease, they'll try to avert the No Export for You trope.

I don't know how true this is though, so take it with a grain of salt.

Tomato's translation is of higher quality than many official localizations. it was a labor of love by a skilled professional, and it really shows.

You know, if someone figured out how to break open the ultra safe capsule, Pokey would probably be as insane as Gigyas at that point.

Ah yes, the ol' Porky is Giygas theory via Stable Time Loop. That the aliens of Giygas's race would have the capability of opening the Absolutely Safe Capsule after humanity finally dies out or leaves the Earth, he's mistaken for one of their own due to the imortality warping his body even further combined with his powerful psi, and using time travel he's able to attempt to conquer Earth in the past for them. But he's insane enough by this point that he believes he's always been one of them. Mother1 happens, and Porky finally gets to have the loving Mother he's always secretly wanted, but his indoctrination and insanity get the better of him.

By Earth Bound, he's losing what bits of stability he has left and Porky follows his influence. The ultimate irony being that only someone as evil as Porky himself could influence him and he himself is the Almighty Idiot, that's destroyed for good by Ness and friends.

It has it's own holes, but for shear irony's sake I kinda like it.

Never heard that theory before, while I don't believe it myself, it certainly is interesting to think about.

There IS a Porky is Giygas theory I saw once on MOTHER 3's WMG page.

Not sure if I believe it, though.

Yeah, I reread it and seems rather implausible because Dr. Andonuts says something like once a person goes into the Absolutely Safe Capsule, they cannot get out. EVER.

And for all of Porky's time travelling issues, he still looks like a human kid by the time MOTHER 3 happens whereas with Giygas in MOTHER 1 (or "Giegue"), he clearly looks like an alien.

Do you think Porky deserved his fate in the end? Or do you feel sorry for him?

It's a bit much to say he didn't deserve it. At the same time, he could have been, at least, a decent person had nothing weird ever happened. He's caught up in the tragic events of the game (Mother 2), even as he perpetrates them, because he was just behaving opportunistically the whole time. His defeat in the end is what flings him off the slippery slope.

I find the "Porky is Giygas" theory unsubstantiated. Itoi has stated that Porky will never get out nor will he ever die of old age; even billions of years later after the heat death of the universe, he'll still be alive in that capsule.

As for feeling sorry for him... It's kinda implied that being sealed off from humanity is exactly what he wants, though I imagine he's going to get bored unless that mech of his has Solitaire or something.

I think Porky deserves his fate because he declared ALL OF HUMANITY worthless, became Giygas' minion, basically made an empire reminiscent of the Nazis, was a total Jerkass to Ness and co. and he's the reason why Hinawa and Claus died. ALL BECAUSE HE FOUND IT AMUSING!

You can tell I Love to Hate this guy very much.

And now I have a mental image of Porky playing Solitaire for the rest of eternity while humanity dies out.

Porky is an asshole but in many ways he is also a victim. He had a very abusive childhood and he probably doesn't really have any friends aside from Ness himself.

I find it doubtful that Ness still sees him as a friend after everything that happened. Maybe as a former friend he might try to save from going insane even further, but not as a current friend.

Porky, on the other hand, probably believes Ness to still be his friend in a twisted way, and will most likely never stop believeing that. Case in point, he has the Friend's Yo-yo, which is most likely Ness's.

Kinda Fridge horror as to how he got it from Ness in the first place. Twisted people are known to give the name 'friend' to people they do horrible (and sometimes deadly) things to. I wouldn't put it past Porky to go too far like that.

Also makes me wonder: did Picky ever find out about what happened to his big brother?

I personally believe that Porky's gotten what he's deserved, being trapped in that imprenetrable capsule and all, but even if I do hate him for his terrible acts, I still feel sorry for him, since he's stuck in that thing forever. The whole time loop theory must make it worse, but hey. He got what he deserved.

And in all honesty, I don't believe that Picky knew much about his brother's alliance with Giygas. I know his father got a raise because of Porky's doing, but I don't believe he knew about the force behind it. They had to have their suspicions, but I think they were just happy that they were out of debt.

However, this talk about Porky thinking of Ness as a friend, and the appearance of Ness' Yo-Yo in Porky's possession brings up a question; What do you guys tink happened to Ness and his gang of friends between the time of Mother 2 and 3?

I always assumed Ness and co lead relatively normal and peaceful lives after their adventures. Ness probably never really cared about that yoyo anyways. He could've just left it somewhere and Porky picked it up.

That's what I thought, too.

Which makes me think about whether or not Ness cared about where Porky went.

That seems like a good way of thinking. Still, I'd at least be a bit worried about Porky, and what he had going on next if I we're Ness.

Well, being taunted with that letter probably left him a bit worried. Since as far as we know, Ness never did see Porky again.

I have had a theory though, largely to account for the last-minute cliffhangers in Mother1 and 2/Earthbound. That Ninten and Ness encountered him at some point in their futures, and were part of the reason Porky was exiled out of time save for the very end of the timeline.

It kinda sucks those two endings never did get resolved.

As for the Chosen Four in general, I think they ended up boarding the White Ship or at least helped it along,.

In yet a second of my stupid theories, I like to imagine that Mother 3's destruction of the world happened in the timeline where Buzzbuzz came from, and when evil was cleaned from the world, it changed things enough to allow Ness and friends to defeat Giygas, and presumably without the evil to corrupt human hearts, the world was saved from apocalypse.
