The Sea God does not too seem like a robot. Its gill fins look like ones of a Coelacanth, so it might actually be a creature and being used as a living suit, Evangelion style. Let me do the inevitable WMG: Aliens are tetrapod earthlings.

So started reading this manga. Really impressed by all the worldbuilding stuff. Am I to assume all land based vertebrates evolved from Hexapods as opposed to Tetrapods? Because it seems like all vertebrates have six limbs in this setting. They'd probably have to be called Sexapods though, since Hexapoda is the Phylum of insects.
Also just a few Chapters in, but Antarctica seems like an Iran/North Korea analog. Is that accurate?

These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.You are exactly right about the land-based vertebrates. Anything that appears to have four limbs lost them through evolution or they became internal organs.
As for the Antarcticans, eh, not really. Although they are pretty secretive.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Its just I read the other day in Chapter 5 when they're talking about Not!Obama being elected in America; the Issue of US-Antartica relations being too belligerent was put alongside the issues Not!Obamacare and Not!Iraq/Afghanistan. I don't mean to say I think they're developing WM Ds; only that they seem to have a 'Hermit Kingdom' vibe to them.
For some reason the Inspite Of A Nail -ness of it all doesn't bother me a great deal. Though we should probably see greater specieation in familiar non-human.
How do they explain most Humanoid species interbreeding not resulting in mules though? I mean I know Homo Sapiens Sapiens and Homo Sapiens Neanderthalensis interbred, but they probably didn't have anywhere close to the amount of genetic deviation as a Demon Girl and a Centaur.

The setting has excellent world building, true, but as with all things fictional, it's best to not look at things TOO closely.
As for the Antarcticans, they may be up to assorted things in the background, but WM Ds aren't one of them, you'll see.
Well I was just curious if they ever address that. In the first chapter they talk about Angel/Centaur children having a high amount of birth defects.
These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.Read 8.5; is this like the same setting as the rest of the manga? It doesn't seem like it.
These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.
It's not.
Also, here's an interesting article I found about what'd be like if land animals evolved with six legs. Apparently, there's no real evolutionary advantage of four legs over six, so that four limbed vertebrates came onto land is completely arbitrary.
These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.I've always wished I had an extra set of arms. Why, natural selection? Why? ;_;
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Two (or three, depending on where you get them) new chapters!
Chapter 46 is a side-chapter to Hime and her friends tailing Sasasul during her visit to the Art Museum. However this time around, it's centered on Minami/Class rep and her friend doing the same. Features people mistaking them for models on a date, and Minami being given her own talking-to about how she's being too harsh on her father.
Chapter 47 goes back to Hime, or rather, the origins of Hime being a carrot-top. Fantastic genetics come fully into play here, as apparently all girls on the mother's side of her family have had red hair since possibly prior to Nobunaga's time.
So... in chapter 46, the Chi-chan call Mitama's long-ear friend "Koma-chan", and in chapter 48, the long-ear who's dating a mermaid is also called "Koma", does that mean those two are brother and sister?
...
You know, I didn't think of that. We'll just have to see I suppose.
Kind of funny how we stepped back in the timeline a bit, as this chapter seems to have been set waaaaaaaaay back during the New Year visit chapter — the one with the hostage taking. ^^;

You think there's any chance of this Manga getting a slice of life Anime? It seems reasonably popular and its premise is pretty unique.
These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.Maybe? I imagine the Genre Roulette nature of series would present a serious challenge to anime studio looking to adapt it (particularly with the variance in chapter length), though
Is this popular enough to actually get an anime? I mean, it seems to be uber niche slice of life Xeno Fiction .-.
I just read the two chapters released last month, and there is an armpit hair chapter! Balding angels are a sad sight, and the theoretical dinomen are pretty cool.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.I see they're making an anime out of this now :D
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!That hair length and size.
Secret SignatureNot gonna lie, it's going to feel weird seeing this animated. And mildly curious which plot thread the anime will follow, if ever, or if it'll focus primarily on Hime doing Hime things.
The PV makes it look like it'll mostly follow Hime and the rest of her class. Probably won't get into any of the truly weird bits
If you think it's going to be weird to watch, spare a thought for the animators
I mean Chii-chan-tachi are weird enough as it is.
Wonder how much Les Yay is going to make it in? I mean besides Akechi and Michi.
Not to be a downer, but the animation is done by the Haoliner studio - basically, the animation team will be newbies from three countries. Done well, it could be Haoliner's best looking work, as none of their previous work are well received or visually appealing, to say the least.
Having watched (a little of) their other show airing this season, Enmusubi no Youko-chan, yeah, I can say that Haoliner animation is nothing at all to be wowed by.
It's been fun.
I just don't like the Antarcticans masquerading as humans and keeping all these secrets. Other than that I can deal with the weirdness. I hope we get a chapter showing that there's a specific organization responsible, not just Antarcticans as a whole being the secret masterminds of the planet. I mean no wonder there's prejudice against them if that's the case. Communicate more.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.
