Well, they did make Battleship, which I seem to be the only troper ever to admit to loving, so, yeah, it is a real thing and it may even be good.

Is there anything more terrifying than a hippo? Its practically indestructible, mindlessly territorial, faster than all but Olympic sprinters on land and faster than most boats in the water. It's brilliant, why waste time licensing some board game, just make a hippo movie and be done with it?

What about the game is necessary? If you wanted to make a movie about the fury of a Mama Bear you wouldn't license the Care Bears to do it would you?

The poster's not official, no, it's part of a spoof set on Tumblr that basically went "If they actually a movie out of Battleship then what the hell is next". Hilarious in Hindsight, I guess. I cannot remember what else they did, can't find it now because Tumblr's doing maintenance.

I don't get why people are decrying this so much. An animated movie about brightly colored hippos who compulsively eat everything around them could easily be a decent kids movie.

Don't worry Tam, I liked Battleship too.

Also, Battleship Vs Giant Hippos is totally a movie I would see.

Really, it seems that the only people in Hollywood at the moment who care about making good movies are Spielberg and those involved in Animation Studios of some sort.
