BTW, if you got game through humble bundle, you can now get steam key from that humble bundle page.
Two years later, I decided to reinstall it.
Seriously, try the "One Man Army" mode. It's not about surviving two minutes with a random weapon against an onslaught of enemies. It's about the Dwarf Fortress kind of fun:
- Losing your arms and legs to a Nanorifle shot, then flying around using the jetpack... Just to land headfirst in a rock face at top speed.
- Taking a dropship out of the sky, just to have it careen right at you, with predictable results.
- Taking a dropship out of the sky, making it explode and getting crushed with an engine or cargo bay door.
- Having a rocket land on your head.
- Having an enemy drone land on your head after dodging the rocket.
- Having an enemy soldier land on your head.
- Having to fight a gatling drone with a pump gun.
- Sniping enemies on the left, getting ganked from the right.
- Playing as a dummy with a flamethrower.
- Or a Browncoat Heavy with a flamethrower.
Necroing this old thread for the sake of advertising how Cortex Command is being given away on Steam for free, but just for roughly a day. May as well just grab it, even if you're not currently planning on playing it: never know if you'll one day get a reason to boot it up and save you a bit of cash.
Nabbed it myself. There is some fun to be had, but the game is still an Obvious Beta, ranging from unpolished physics resulting in clunky movement and controls, to random crashing. The AI is also all over the place, and can veer into Fake Difficulty at times. It's a shame because the game is fun otherwise. I'm still not sure why is there no crosshair, though.
The free offer was done for the sole purpose of getting attention to their next game, but I hope they take the opportunity to polish it after.
You're probably right, and it'll also serve as a way to help boost the online playerbase, even if only slightly.
If they're planning on releasing a new game, then it probably means we won't be seeing much more dev support for Cortex Command from here on out.
This is on steam now.
What.
Its finally finished? ._.
I got it from humble bundle long time ago and it took rather long time to be updated... And its finally ready? O_o Interesting
