Looks okay to me.
They altered Cinderella's design recently,◊ and I actually like it. The bangs are an improvement.
Looking for some stories?I feel like she looks just a little too modern. Not bad, exactly, but something about that hairstyle doesn't feel "fairytale" enough for me.
Speaking of Cinderella, is anyone else amused by the fact that the commercials for the recent Cinderella Blu-Ray release use completely epic music?
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaI don't like it. She doesn't look like Cinderella to me at all. It's not just the hair—the face is different, and the way the body is carried. She looks like someone else dressing up as Cinderella, and getting the details wrong. Cinderella should have a dated hairstyle. Her movie came out in 1950. I may not like the character, but that doesn't mean I want her classic, iconic look messed with. What exactly is the purpose of this? It's just going to foster a disconnect between the character and the milestone of animation history where she originated. Are they going to do this to all the Princesses? Has Disney's marketing department finally lost all respect for the company's own IPs?
On a related note, I've been reading Cinderella Ate My Daughter, a book that critiques the pop culture being aimed at little girls. The author does indeed have Things To Say about the whole princess phenomenon.

Is it possible to impale a redesign?
Ok, hows about this: is it possible to beat a character redesign to near death and throw it in a sewer so hungry rats can devour it?

Allow me to clean that up, then. This one goes out to my fellow World of Warcraft fans. :) As you know, one of the jokes the female Humans makes is "My friends and I exchange clothes all the time; we're all the same size." Here's one example of that. ;)
I like to keep my audience riveted." Are they going to do this to all the Princesses?"
I think they already have, at the same time Cinderella was redesigned.
Edit: They have◊.

It was bound to happen.That...doesn't even look like Belle anymore.
I remember finding another group picture with the new looks that had Belle facing the back. When someone does a quick glance at the picture and mistakes Belle for Megara, you know your re-design is bad.
Don't mind me. I'm just a creepy little lurker.Closest to that description I've found is this◊.
It was bound to happen.I ask again: What is the point of this?
Updating their looks so the current generation of girls can "better relate to them" or something.
Don't mind me. I'm just a creepy little lurker.Bah. Bah and humbug!
Persona 3 Portable LiveblogPrincesses aren't supposed to be relatable. They're pure fantasy figures.
Re: Rapunzel
2D does not even look like the one from the movie. What the hell?
New Cinderella is rather nice though the same cannot be said of the others.
Looser hair seems to be the thing here.
Rapunzel should be brunette but that will never happen. More recognition for her blonde look. -sighs and hunts for pictures of a burnette Rapunzel-
Persona 3 Portable LiveblogI'm just not sure why the change was "necessary." (Marketing "necessary," not Earth-logic necessary.) I can easily believe that less money is being spent on Princess merchandise lately, for a number of reasons, but I don't believe that boredom with the girls' hairdos is among them. I'm pretty sure it's not within marketing best practices to re-design your flagship characters so that they look like fad-driven knockoffs of themselves.

There's something I've gotta ask; are the Virtual Paper Doll games on the website a Guilty Pleasure for anyone else?
Looking for some stories?-raises hand- I quite like those games.
Persona 3 Portable Liveblog*looks at redesign picture* Dang, girl! Lay off the mascara, Aurora!
Poor Mulan has a kind of distant look in her face. I imagine she's thinking something along the lines of, "I want my #$&!ing armor back."
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaI agree with the pagetopper.
Oh, and THREAD HOP!
Anyone got their own fanon-kind of Disney Princess line? For me, it's basically the line-up + Kairi (Princess of Heart), Sheeta (in Muska's words, "the legitimate heir to the throne of Laputa, Princess Lusheeta]] and Eilonwy. As much as Kida makes sense (and Cree Summer and Atlantis are awesome), I'd much rather Meg and Esmeralda be in the "official" line.
Also, one of the Disney Princess soundtracks has "Can You Feel The Love Tonight," so I figure Disney has acknowledged other princesses in the Disney line that aren't "fit" to be in it.
They should just drop the whole "princess" idea and just rename it "Awesome Disney Girls" or something. I doubt many people would protest.
I approve of this notion.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaThey're halfway there with this video.
Seriously, none of the views espoused in that video correspond at all to Disney Princess brand marketing, which seems to revolve around frilly dresses and jewelry.
Am I the only one who thinks the 2D version of Rapunzel looks...off?
Don't mind me. I'm just a creepy little lurker.
