Okay.

  1. The four survivors are back in this direct sequel, and a fifth playable character is added, John Morgan. He's a Multi-Melee Master.
  2. The new area is Henderson, which is basically a extremely wealthy resort gone to shit.

Henderson? Unrelated to the little town of Henderson, Nevada, right?

Anyway, a sequel already? Lemme get the first game before I even bother with this one, because at least that one's at a good price on PC.

I really don't understand why this is getting a sequel. :/

Because it sold enough copies. And that one trailer.

The first game also ended on quite the Downer Ending, and people are hoping this will resolve things a little more upbeat.

Hopefully they improve on the whole thing. I enjoyed Dead Island at times (especially when I got a shock machete), but the broken levelling and tissue-paper-like weapon durability really got to me.

So over the last couple of weeks there's been an outrage concerning the Zombie Bait edition of this game to be sold in Europe. It's got something to do with a statue of a bloodied limbless headless corpse of a bikini woman.

Some call it sexist. Everyone else calls it disgusting and tacky. Some of the latter think the ones who think the former is missing the point of the whole thing. One or two gaming websites used this as a jumping point for their ongoing anti-sexism crusade in gaming.

What do I think? I'm with the latter. Also, this is a pretty damn good example of No Such Thing as Bad Publicity.

Sad that we've got a bunch of people so hyped up on this whole feminism vs masculism stuff that they jump on the fact it's a bikini clad corpse and therefore sexist/not sexist, and not the fact that it's a corpse to begin with.

Isn't this the same company that had one of the skills a character could learn labeled "Feminist Whore" in their beta?

One way or another, I'm starting to think these guys have some problems with women...

[up][up]I know, right? A lot of major game sites are focusing on the supposed sexism involved, including Giant Bomb of all people. That site has a combined number of 3500 comments on the two articles.

[up][up]it was one disgruntled employee out of hundreds that put that in. I don't think he's representative of the company as a whole in terms of the treatment towards females.

And the game is scheduled for release in April. Three or so months is not enough time to make a great overhaul.

Neither, it seems, was a year and a half.

Dead Island deserves a sequel. A sequel could vastly improve over the original. Who knows? Maybe they've been working on it sense before DI 1 was released.

Oh, and that sexism stuff is BS. What if it was a guy's torso in that picture? The masses don't care then.

[up]They would still care in terms of the fact that it's a freaking limbless torso and that's nasty. They probably would not care for the sexist implications of an "ideal" male/female body, if any. All I know is that this got the developers and the game a LOT of publicity, and we all know there's No Such Thing as Bad Publicity.

Well, it is disgusting. Somehow moreso then when their are actual limbless torsos in the game.

I just viewed that promotional item as tacky curio on par with the Leg Lamp from A Christmas Story.

Wishlist:

Improve the vehicle mechanic. I hate having to get stuck between to chairs when I could push the chairs away from the car.

Make game less buggy.

Get rid of the crappy weapon damage thing, or at least make it tolerable.

More zombie types.
