Welcome to Doctor Who - Time and Space, a RP based on the British TV show Doctor Who. Now how about we stop dappin' and let's get crackin'? (I swear I'll never say that again).

How does this RP work?

The RP is divided, much like the new series, into seasons and episodes. An episode would be like a world in the A Game of Gods series of R Ps, and each season has thirteen episodes, all of them connected by a story arc (again, like the new series).

But I bet what you want to know is how you can participate, right? Well, let me explain. The Doctor will be, of course, controlled by me, and two players will control two regular companions that will participate in all of the episodes of the season. Once a new season rolls around, those companions (and their players) may change. The position of regular companions go to the two players with the best companion signup sheets. The other players will have 'recurring companions, like River Song and Captain Jack Harkness, and they may appear for an episode or two. This is a new Doctor, so don't be afraid to create original characters.

But that means that only two people get to play all the time, while the others do nothing! No! Before an episode begins, I'll post a short synopsis and a list of one-off characters that will be in the episode. The other players can then either play as their recurring companions or play as the one-off characters. In other words, everyone gets a chance to play.

What's that? You're asking for a sheet? Well, here it goes!

  • Name:
  • Age:
  • Species: (human or alien- if alien, specify)
  • Country/Planet of Origin:
  • Appearance:
  • Personality:
  • Backstory: (here you can put how your character met the Doctor, what he does for a living, etc)

Here's the sheet for the Doctor- and this is an incarnation created just for the RP!

  • Name: The Doctor
  • Age: 1104. I think.
  • Species: Time Lord (the last one!... unfortunately)
  • Planet of Origin: Gallifrey
  • Appearance: "Hello there. I'm the Doctor. I've said that 245 times since I regenerated. Odd, huh?"
  • Personality: This Doctor is more calm than his previus incarnation and a bit more reflexive. Like the other Doctors, he knows a lot of things about the universe, but this version of the character prefers to impress people talking about trivial matters and topics unrelated to what happens around him. He also loves a little bit of anarchy, and doesn't really like authority figures. You don't want to get on this Doctor's bad side, because if you do, he won't let you live a day of peace. Oh, and he loves theme parks.
  • Backstory: After the fall of the Eleventh on the fields of Trenzalore, the Doctor found himself forced to regenerate after an accident which he described as "so complicated no mind apart from mine can fully comprehend it". This new Doctor decided that he wanted to experience new things and began to travel the universe, picking up many companions along the way. He's currently travelling alone, but not for long...

Alright. Here goes!

  • Name: Sloane Blackwell
  • Age: 24
  • Species: Human
  • Country: United States, Earth
  • Appearance: Long brunette hair, green eyes that are usually behind a pair of silver glasses, slender build, pale complexion. Prone to having a slightly haughty look / air about her. Fond of sweater and jean combos.
  • Personality: Sloane is pretty grounded in reality. She's aware of what she can and cannot do — or so she thinks, anyway. Not much of a dreamer, she'd much rather focus on the facts than busy herself dwelling on the "what ifs" and "maybes" of the world. Yes, that does make her a bit "closed off" in some respects. But honestly, she can be introduced to new ideas and experiences under the right circumstances. Possesses a hidden sense of adventure she rarely engages in since it would be stepping out of her comfort zone.
  • Backstory: Born to an older couple who were told they could not conceive, Sloane was pretty much her parents' little miracle child. They doted upon her as best as they could, while simultaneously enriching her little mind. Both of them were professors at the local university, meaning there was always books and articles of interest for her to pursue. This had the unfortunate side-effect of inadvertently stifling much of her childhood creativity. She faltered in areas that required a bit more imagination — and it didn't help that the older she grew the more open to scoffing at such things she became. Reaching adulthood she firmly dedicated herself to the "possible", and has yet to have anyone change her mind otherwise. Currently works part-time as a librarian while also filling in as a university research assistant. Has a thesis regarding old obscure myths in which her main focus is — you guessed it — debunking them.

I guess I'll start drafting for recurring character status then, for the low number of Earth-based stories it'll actually be appropriate.

I might just play as the one-off characters. For the lulz.

Going to go for one of the companion spaces (writing it up now, so I'll edit this if nobody posts after this before I'm done.). He's going to be a Whifferdill.

Ok, let's try a companion. Knowing my characters it will probably turn out badly. And weirdly.

  • Name: Alexander Sleipner
  • Age: 14
  • Species: Whifferdill
  • Country/Planet of Origin: New New York Undercity, New Earth
  • Appearance: As a Whifferdill, he normally has the ability to shapeshift, but he has two forms he prefers:
    • Human-like: A tall and lanky human teenager. Dark olive skin, black hair and golden eyes. Generally looks somewhat sullen. As his shapeshifting affects clothing, he generally makes an effort to wear something appropriate, but his clothes for when it doesn't matter or he is in his original era are generally jeans and polo shirts in dark colours.
    • Horse-like: An average-sized horse, black in colour. Long mane and golden eyes. A fairly typical looking horse.
  • Personality: Alexander is, rather noticeably, adventurous and inquisitive. He seeks to experience and know as much as possible. He attempts to be nice and understand people, although he fails at it more than most do. This can lead to him being fairly annoying, as he tends to bug people for information and to get them to let him help them. Inside, he somewhat doubts his worth and ability to help people, but he rarely shows it.
  • Backstory: Alexander was born in the New New York Undercity, on the motorways, to a Whifferdill couple newly married before going on the road. As the system required three adults, they could not go on the fast lane and were stuck like everybody else. When Alexander was young, there was an accident in which his mother died due to fumes and a chemical spill caused him to lose his sense of smell, which persists even when shapeshifitng. He and his father grew distant, even despite being stuck together in their vehicle, and when they ascended to the city with everyone else, his father abandoned him. Going out through New Earth, and beyond, he set out to attempt to achieve something and hopefully, to adventure.

I should really stop ending sentences with "adventure".

Well, let's throw a recurring alien into the mix — this option is too good to pass up. Sheet will be up shortly.
EDIT: Let's see how this goes.

  • Name: Tuvok.
  • Species: Fifth Series!Silurian.
  • Country of Origin: Cyprus.
  • Appearance: Without mask; with mask and gun.
  • Personality: since she's cold-blooded, she tends to be rather sluggish most of the time. She prefers thinking to acting, except when there's hunting involved — then she'll act fast, though not without prior planning. She can easily relate to other thinking people or hunting enthusiasts, but her ability to care about other people is somewhat lacking.
  • Backstory: Tuvok does not like to think about the Doctor. She first met him in the 14th century, when she mistakenly woke up from hibernation and went on a hunting rampage in Cyprus, nearly slaying Justine LeBlanc in the progress; the Doctor and Justine returned her to her hibernation cell after a battle of sorts. Their next meeting was in a planet famous for its hunting resorts, where an incident involving oversized cats, bananas and sentient doors happened. She found herself running with the Doctor, and, in the end, owing him a debt. So every once in a while she appears, especially if hunting's involved. Or philosophy.

Part of me wants to give up and just use the Corps of Royal Engineers for a background since that's where all the other new series UNIT junior officers apparently came from, but part of me wants to do something individual.

Okay, here's a suggested companion. Probably one to be kept on the back-burner but whatever:

* Name: Justine Le Blanc

  • Age: 30
  • Species: Human
  • Country/Planet of Origin: 14th Century Earth, Cypres
  • Appearance: Justine stands six-foot tall, a near giant for his time. His hair is albino-white, and kept in a close military crop. He has a large sword-scar on his jaw, stretching from just below his left ear down to his lower jawbone. He has blue eyes. When the occasion calls for it, he dresses in his old armour - a mixed set of chain and plate mail, with a black tunic with a red cross worn over it, as well as a black mantle. Other than that he usually wears the uniform of his current trade, a sort of blend between a Napoleonic uniform and a Frock Coat.
  • Personality: A subtle blend of effortless charm, a mind like a scalpel and bitter cynicism. Justine is polite and friendly, oozing with self-confidence at the best of times but this hides a very weary and angry man. He has seen more friends than he can count die on the battlefield and has known the sharp end of betrayal all too well. As a result he can be more than a little manipulative when dealing with others, even those he considers friends. He's not always aware of it, and it springs more from a subconscious desire to have the upper hand should he be betrayed again more than anything else.
  • Backstory: Justine is one of the last Knights Templar. He was brought into the order during it's last few years before the Pope ordered its dissolution and the subsequent arrest and crucifixion of the majority of the members. Justine himself was officially a sergeant (more on that in a moment), and on that black day (that would forever seal Friday 13th as a sign of bad luck) he had been assigned to oversee the protection of a local lord from Tuscany. When the order for his arrest was received, the men around him, men he had grown to trust had him contained without a second thought. And there he was, rotting in King Phillip IV's gaol cells when The Doctor stumbled onto the scene after a rogue Silurian that had broken to the surface early. With Justine's assistance the creature was returned beneath the ground, and seeing an opportunity to escape his death, Justine stowed away aboard the TARDIS. The Doctor dropped him off on The Starship France in the 29th Century, where he makes a small living as a member of L'Office de Rumeur - The Whispersmith Agency, a freelance collective of information brokers and detectives. The Doctor has elected to keep him as a contact because he can make for interesting conversation and occasionally has unique insights on the various problems a Time-Traveller faces.
This has been stricken from historical records, but Justine's role as a sergeant was merely a front for his real duties - working as one of The Order's many spies. This double life was illustrious and often terrifying, but did leave him with some very useful skills, a working knowledge of political power struggles and a few dozen dead friends.

If Tuvok and Justin are accepted, we can have her be that Silurian — I'll modify the backstory accordingly if that's OK.

Added a little more info. Playing a debunker of myths who collides with the Doctor — comedy gold, anyone?

ETA: Also because I'm a giant dork, I picked out a possible theme song for Sloane. I know it's a thing in the show with most major characters getting their own theme. So hey, why not? tongue
