What, we actually have that markup?! I've never seen it!
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI found the remains of it on Text-Formatting Rules when I sandboxed that a few days ago — it was only in one or two headers, and I haven't encountered it anywhere else on the wiki at all. A little experimenting showed what it did and how to use it, and I added it to the Ears For Elves character page as well as an explanation to Text-Formatting Rules. I reckon it should be used more — Useful Notes pages might benefit, and a work with a really long trope list could have anchor points for A, B, C, and so on.
It also has the potential to wreck havock in the forums — if you put [[#postbutton]] in a post near the top of the page, then pressing "back" when composing a post will make you jump there rather than the bottom of the page, which may confuse people. Same for linking to a specific post if someone further up the page has that number as a link point in their post. Since even you didn't know about it, though, the chance of someone abusing it like this (ignoring the fact that my OP here has #postbutton! ) are effectively nil.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.^I've never seen such a link on the wiki, so I think that there are few if no usages of it here. Which might be intentional

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThose red links are a serious bug. Especially given that the anchor points are functional, a proper URL parser should always ignore everything after the # when checking the validity of the url. This would be true on any internet site.
I'm trying to add one of these to the Doctor Strange (2016) page, and its still red linking, despite being perfectly functional. Should I just not bother?

I'll add this to the admin worklist. It's a long-standing issue.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
I call it that for lack of a better name; if there is an official one, please tell me. It is the obscure bit of markup which allows you to link to a specific part of a page — put [[#LinkingPoint]] on a page or forum post, and it can then be linked by appending #LinkingPoint to the URL. It is used on Text Formatting rules.
Anyway, the hash it uses is the only exception I've seen to no puncutation in WikiWords other than . or / for a namespace — I can type Ears For Elves#Elon and if you click that link, it'll go to his entry on the character sheet. However, because of the punctuation it displays as a redlink, which might be part of why it's so rare on the wiki (other than only being added to the formatting rules a few days ago). Can this be fixed, please?
