Doesn't really say "smirk" to me either.

I'm okay with both 2 and 9. The lighting and distance in 11 mean I can barely see any smirk, let alone a psychotic one.
Looking though stuff on the page (yikes, X, Just...X, That Is All, Sinkhole Chaining, Zero Context Examples, Weblinks As Examples...), there's also LokiLet the wine of friendship never run dry. *shluuurp* ![]() serial tweaker, sorry

I like the Griffith suggestion...either the full page or the single panel would be fine. Here's a couple others: Lelouchedited 13th Sep '12 4:28:59 AM by Willbyr ![]() serial tweaker, sorry

I like the Loki one. Alex is also good, but it almost seems like a better example of Kubrick Stare.

Just As Planned is pretty much the iconic Death Note meme, though. (...the four iconic Death Note memes, I think, actually.)
I think Loki is best so far. Alex's smirk is a little subtle combined with the Kubrick Stare, Griffith is too dark, and Gendo doesn't read as psychotic so much as Smug Snake.

That's the second. The third is keikaku means plan.
