Willy is the War Hammer, as in there's a Titan that will bludgeon Eren with Willy's body.
I'm honestly debating whether Isayama is enough of a troll to introduce the last of the Nine Titans.....and then kill the host so that we never get to see it in action.
I'd like to think Willy is the decoy, because him dying here and/or being nommed by Eren would mean we'd never get to see the War Hammer. Which would be kinda cheap to introduce this final Titan that has been off the field for a century and helped shape the current world, and then never have it get used.
But then I remember that Isayama is a troll, and I wonder.
I think the big guy who's consistently been seen with Willy could be the real Warhammer Titan. If Willy has it he probably wouldn't be so willing to sacrifice himself.
That's possible, yeah. Him or perhaps one of the other members of the Tybur family that we've seen but never paid much attention to.
A good point I saw about that possibility is that Magath was so concerned for his safety, when he knows just how difficult it is to kill one of the Nine Titans. And there's no discussion of concerns about losing the War Hammer, in spite of that being an enormous problem if Willy did indeed have it. Because their concerns are him dying, not "you die and Marley loses another Titan". Which has been stated to be an enormous concern for them, because they've already lost two in recent years.
I think we've been played along with everyone else.
Even if he did have the Titan power I seriously doubt there is anyway he would of lived through that, twisted in half, neck snapped, his jaw looks like it was torn off, one of his feet was broken and is hanging from the side, likely a lot more internal injuries....
Honestly makes me wonder what exactly Eren did to him, I don't think there is anyway coming back from that even with a Titan power but then again Reiner is still alive so maybe.
Reminder that Reiner survived having his head exploded.
Yeah, and he survived getting blown up by heavy artillery. We didn't see him until he fully recovered, but they said basically everything but his head was mashed. So it seems as long as their nervous system is intact, there's the chance to survive their injuries given time.
I think the simple fact Willy went into this knowing he'd die shows he's not the Warhammer. If he died without giving his power to someone it'd go anywhere outside of their control
That raises another question, then. So supposing that Willy used himself as bait to lure Eren out, using the festival as a massacre to unite the world under Marley's leadership, and he was merely pretending to be the War Hammer the whole time....
Does that mean the real War Hammer is there and ready to ambush him now that he's shown himself?
Also, assuming that Willy wasn't the War Hammer.....then that means the story he was telling is merely what was told to him, and therefore can be suspect. We know that before all of this, the Titans were each passed down via direct lineage and from the Reiss family, we know that it's possible to control one's descendants through the succession. What if the Tybur from the Great War has been influencing their successors the same way that Karl Fritz was controlling his own?
If Eren gets attacked by the actual Warhammer Titan, I think Eren's going to get thrashed. Reiner, however, will finally get his head on straight and decide to help Eren. I'd also like Zeke (and Annie) to have already defected; it'd be pretty awesome to see Tybur handling all three.
Dayum, there's already a lot of discussion on this chap. I don't really have much to add. The last few pages were fucking intense. I still have the impression that Willy knew exactly what was coming… He doesn't just talk about the Walldians, but about Eren specifically, almost as if he knew him…
Other than that, I love the unchanging expression on Eren's face, even when Reiner is crawling pathetically in apology. Like "Sure. So what?"
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.Yeah, I have to imagine that the War Hammer is a seriously dangerous Titan simply because the Tyburs were able to throw such an enormous wrench in everything. (And it's the last of the Nine Titans to be revealed in the series).
Another thing I keep thinking back to is how Kruger described the Attack Titan as having a specific personality that defined it. Since the Nine are described as fragments of Ymir Fritz's soul, does each have a specific characteristic that defines them beyond their physical abilities? If the Attacker is "one who seeks freedom", then what sort of trait would define the other 8?
Yeah Eren had no choice, the war had started the moment the world leaders applauded, he just threw the first punch.
I'm just really looking forward to seeing Zeke have a massive Oh, Crap! the moment he sees Levi again.
I have to concur with harostar, I can't see Willy as the actual holder of the Warhammer Titan. Magath told him 'I can't protect you' early in the chapter, and he's been leading the Warrior unit for quite a while, he should be more aware than anyone else just how resilient shifters are. It's gotta be someone else.
It's melancholic how Willy used the same words Eren once used - 'because I was born in this world'. Eren originally used them to express his humanity, and it's meant to be uplifting; and then Carla echoed them by saying in a flashback that 'because he was born in this world, he's already great'. But now Willy is using that expression to convince the world that the people of Paradis have to be destroyed. It's several steps backward, a dark inversion.
No wonder Eren took such a pained expression when he heard Willy being so emotional. He doesn't want to do this either, but he just heard the rest of the world applaud at the notion of destroying his people. And unlike Reiner, he has the determination to do this consciously, with full awareness of the pain he's going to cause.
So some speculation from me about Zeke. Zeke atleast as far as I can tell might very well be working with Eren and if that is the case and his distance away from the play is any indication the next chapter is about to get very bloody very quick.
He has enough time to transform, roar, and potentially send Titans all upon the crowd and surrounding areas. This is assuming he is working with Eren though.
This would be a perfect time to go turncoat for the Warriors and any Eldians that feel oppressed, Eren killing Willy and others is going to cause enough chaos as it.

Phew.
I nearly forgot about this, but I finally read the chapter.
...Feel like I need a damn scorecard. Not sure who's doing what no more.
One Strip! One Strip!Spoilers are out.
Secret SignatureWhy anyone would want to read spoilers instead of waiting a few more days for the actual chap is beyond me. >.>
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo. The chapter is out. And I like spoilers, but I make the effort to understand how other people may enjoy not looking at them.
Wow. The Warhammer Titan is pretty poweful. And has an actual hammer. I was expecting a giant Power Fist or something.
Is it me or does she look like she has actual skin under the outer armor covering her face?
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Oh no, RIP Expendable Candidates. Noooooooo...
Did we just kill off the new Titan

Dunno, might just be that Mikasa just mildly inconvenienced it.
I think Willy is dead and is a decoy for the Warhammer, either that or Eren might eat his body for his power or him dying without being eaten just sent his Titan to an random Eldian baby.
