Ah. Unless so.

Even still, leaving a mindless Titan just hobbling around isn't good. What if it kills everybody because it just so happens to be an Aberrant or whatever else?

Ah, that's definitely a possibility. Grisha had to get the one he gave Eren from somewhere.

But it doesn't change that there's only one shifter at hand to eat. I doubt they'll let Armin or Erwin trapped as a mindless titan until they somehow find another shifter to feed them…

[down] Between the "endless nightmare" and letting them die, I think the latter would be far more merciful.

I thought that they were just going to feed Bertolt to whomever get's turned into a Titan at this point. It's not like Bert would protest that course of action either. Hell, knowing how traumatized he is by the things he has done he would probably welcome an end to everything for him.....

Some weird scenario came to my mind where they somehow combined Armin and Erwin and then used the serum on the combination.

Spoilers are out. Levi tries to inject Erwin only for the latter to knock the syringe away and die in peace. Armin eats Bertolt and lives.

Yeah, real mature way of handling a character arc full of grey and relative angles there...

TBH, Erwin had been a Death Seeker for quite a long time, him accepting yet another life on his hands, specifically one who was somewhat being groomed as a sucessor of sorts, would be kinda off.

I see Isayama is trying to avoid The Road Not Taken with Levi. Will this be bad writing or good character development from the Female Ttian arc and No Regrets? Who knows.

Haven't read the chapter yet, but it sucks that Bertolt's dead. I expected him to die first, honestly, but the warriors are still (IMO) much better written than the heroes.

After reading the translated chapter, it wasn't what I expected. Levi weighting the choice himself instead of being convinced by Erwin is definitely better. Avoids the crossroad trope for a difficult choice. Now let's see how it stays in the future chapter.

Wow this was a really bad move.

Even when half-way through I could tell that Isayama was going with Armin despite what he was leading up to. I almost feel like quitting the manga.

The flashbacks with Armin would've been more powerful if this was him staying dead. And it would've really been a more interesting story decision for the heroes to let their friend die for humanity and then having to deal with that. Instead we get the typical bs.

Ugh.

Honestly, as stated by others, this feels like the most IC outcome. Any other outcome would have been OOC for quite a few people.

[up][up]Honestly, I'm not sure if Armin dying instead of Erwin would make the story more interesting. Regardless, I'm not mad that Isayama decided to go the direction he did and look forward to seeing how the story progresses from there.

I suppose Bertholt now knows what went through Marco's head in his last moments.

It's in character sure, but as [up][up][up] said I can't help but feel that Armin's death scene was a lot more poignant when we all thought it was actually going to stick. Seems like the only way to get a main character to die in this series is to start planting the death flags three arcs in advance. That said, I'm interested to see where things go now that the status quo's really been shaken up.

Personally, I was fine with either choice as long as both didn't survive. In the narrative, both options made sense and both would have had an impact. This was a situation that couldn't satisfy everyone, anyway, so I think Isayama did as well as he could.

I'm more annoyed by the art in this chap. Seriously, those inclined flashback panels are ugly, I wish he would just stop to do that. =[

Heh, for all his tough talk in the end Levi made his choice basing on his emotions... just not the ones he thought he'd have.

I liked these two latest chapters, but I'm a bit perplexed about Armin being a titan shifter in future arcs (or arc?). On one hand, he needs more than ever to be the tactician, on the other hand it would be a bit of a waste not to use his Titan form.

And now that all immediate concerns are solved, I think it's basement time.

Lyendith Since: Mar, 2011

Still, I can't help but think the Scouting Legion is kinda screwed now. Their remaining manpower is close to nonexistent and I can't see anyone leading them with the same charisma as Erwin. Hange, maybe?

Oh well, let's see what's in that basement first.
