For the uninitiated... A contingent of tropers (mostly from across America) holds regular get-togethers over the Interwebs on this site called Synchtube which lets individuals, such as ourselves, open and join in text-based chatrooms within typical web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, et. al.) that allow the chat participants to view YouTube videos in synchronization with everyone else present (without even needing to set up an account)... and we've decided to use said chatrooms to play cheeseball webvideos and feature-length movies found in the public domain which stretch all the way from letters B to Z, which everyone subsequently riffs on a la MST3K.
For over EIGHT years, everybody who gets involved mostly finds good enjoymentnote in calling out tropes that are recognized in the videos and stories and coming up with jokes to fling back at whatever's happening on the screen, many of which turn into various in-jokes and running gags (a Coven Glossary is kept and maintained for everyone's help and convenience HERE) to repeat in the chat.
We're always looking for new ways to better coordinate and expand our activities and are more than happy to welcome newcomers interested in joining our gatherings.

We watched that one. IDK why it's not on our ratings page, but I remember watching it and not being very fond of it. James Hong and Mark Dacascos for some reason being associated with that title didn't help a darn.
By "I don't know if I mentioned this before", I meant "I don't know if I mentioned that the way I discovered that film was via a tangential connection to Cool Cat."
Yeah, I remember that.
Well, alright then...
Oh, Ho-Oh-HOOOOOoooooooooooo...
So I did find a different Godfrey Ho/Betty Chan/Joseph Lai production to run this Kung Fu Friday—one we've never seen before but no doubt one of their later efforts (shot on video, clearly as a cost-cutting measure). That'll be something called Commando the Ninja, or American Commando Ninja, per IMDb:
But first up, we got two more episodes of mXc. Hooray!

That movie deserved a 4.

somethingIt certainly felt special.
It was a late eighties movie, but due to the poor transfer, the "fashion sense", [ohai tacist Chinese Wonder Woman with confederate short shorts], the jazzy soundtrack, the herky-jerky "editing" and the dubbing, it felt like it came out the tail end of the previous decade, and it was glorious.
On a side question, is The Iron Giant, the 1999 film by Brad Bird, too good or too popular for a bold title recommendation? There are several themes in it that are prevalent for this day and age, like the cold war paranoia narrative, the don't-take-things-at-face-value concept with the Giant itself, the concept of how potentially lethal weapons can be in the wrong hands, and, of course, the big one, the idea of nurture vs. nature, of choosing your own path against your baser instincts.

Love tearing bad movies to shreds? Join us every night at 8 PMI'd prefer to find more animation from the early 90's or earlier and/or from a foreign country.
Anyway, tonight... I have little-to-no idea what to expect from this. At its surface, the trailer would seem like a western with fantasy-themed (if not, Christian/religious) motifs (It definitely seems more blatantly "Christian" than the bizarre, confusing mess that was The Bells of Innocence, X ), but its IMDb profile only lists this as an "action/adventure/drama" with "plot synopsis" that's literally just a tagline and doesn't clear up anything.
The leading cast includes Eric Roberts as "The Devil" (obvious, really), the evil sensei from 'Karate Kid' movies, some guy from a 2015 Karate Kid ripoff called The Martial Arts Kid (appearing alongside some familiar names/faces from regular Kung Fu Friday fare, plus a supporting cast member from Urban Menace)... and Tuvok from 'Star Trek: Voyager'.
Make of this what you will... Six Gun Savior.

Tonight's movie looks like a lot of fun from the trailer we saw last night. I hope it's as good as it looks!
As for animated movies that could potentially be bold letter, I don't know if this is good enough, but Persepolis, the animated tale of an Iranian woman who drew a comic about her own life. She lived through two revolutions, left Iran to visit Europe, became used to the freedom of Europe and had a hard time readjusting to Iran, and finally left Iran again. It's basically the life story of someone who's lived an interesting life, but it's really neat and pretty good. It even has some funny parts where the animation aspect is used in funny ways.
I've seen that. It's good, but I don't know if it has an English dub. I do know that it has interspersed bits of English dialogue in it, as to service its narrative.

Love tearing bad movies to shreds? Join us every night at 8 PMI have a copy of it with an English dub, so it does have one.
Persepolis is one of those movies, that, if it ever gets seen here, it should (like that Happiness movie) not get rated, because it is a genuinely (very) good movie, with a very distinctive style, and a movie which shouldn't even require a dub to enjoy it in full (I watched the original with subs in a cultural center - subs, for lack of a better word, are good; you Americans should get more used to it, they ain't hard to follow).
Btw, I haven't been here because I've had some real life stuff to do. I'll probably only appear here either next weekend or 14/15 days from now.

For the record, I don't mind subtitles when watching a non-English movie. A dub just makes a movie easier to follow within the context of our own text chat. Having to read/follow two different streams of text basically defeats the entire purpose of both watching and chatting. (And dubs always make silly B-movies feel even hokier, anyway)
Anyway, happy to be hearing from you here again. Can't wait to have you back with us soon.

Here we go!
First up, Captain Planet and the Planeteers teach the youth of the early 90's about "Mind Pollution", and Lowtax discovers "Twilight Forest" and "Clown 2000".
Then, at the top of the coming hour, Eric Roberts is "The Devil... He's a TALKING Satan" in Six Gun Savior.

Neil Breen and a crappy horror/western in the same weekend?
Love tearing bad movies to shreds? Join us every night at 8 PMWe still need to track down Neil Breen's latest film, made last year and still offering everything we expect from him—Pass Thru.
But right now I'm in the mood to check out the first title of his we've ever seen for... what I think will be our third time, if I'm not mistaken?
It's the story of "a computer scientist/novelist with supernatural power" who computer hacks his way into uncovering "the most secret government and corporate secrets." Doesn't that deserve a round of applause? Once again, here comes Fateful Findings.
Say, what better way to kick off an evening with Neil Breen than with some batshit crazy, over-the-top "moral superiority" from another Grade-A kook? Remember this guy???
Hop on over before enduring another round of Neil Breen's magnum opus Fateful Findings!

There's a chapter in American Psycho where Patrick Bateman shares an elevator with Tom Cruise (they live in the same ritzy apartment building on NYC's Upper West Side), and Bateman awkwardly compliments Cruise for his role in the film Bartender, prompting the actor to correct him on the film title—Cocktail.
Consequentially, it's utterly impossible for me to think of a movie like tonight's feature presentation without that moment in the book springing to mind and dwelling on how much the film and its premise would actually appeal to shallow, privileged, rich, white yuppies like Patrick Bateman.
It's the story of a white guy in Manhattan who turns a part-time job pouring liquids out of bottles into the glorious opportunity to be a "big shot", charming beautiful women by day and making passionate love to them on Jamaican beaches by night. Pure idyllic fantasy... but everything comes with a price.
God, this movie is shit. And while I'm not paying much attention to these sorts of things, if memory serves me correctly, this was one of the very earliest titles that Mike Nelson put out a [Insert Whatever Word Signifies the Singularized Form of "RiffTrax" Here] for.
Also starring Bryan Brown, Elisabeth Shue, Lisa Banes... and Cyber Seduction's Kelly Lynch. And, yes, that is Rick Astley muzak featured in the trailer...

The singular form of RiffTrax, I assume, would be "RiffTrack".
Okay, first up... Lowtax found something called "Eon War" to play.
Then, at the top of the coming hour, Tom Cruise does for bartending what Scientology does for the English language in Cocktail.

Trailer for "Sins of the Sister". Yeah, I'll admit right now, it's kinda NSFW but I'm recommending it because it is a wonderful combination of insane and awful.

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Wow, that was bad. Cruise's charm barely carried it along.
Anyway, I added a different version of the "Exploding Penguin" sketch for tomorrow's aftershow since the one I added for today's got immediately removed. In addition, can someone save the Cinema Snob video that I added for tomorrow's playlist and remove Jerma?

From one forgettable atrocity to another...
Tonight: Nickelodeon Films' Clockstoppers, directed by Jonathan Frakes, obviously of Star Trek: The Next Generation fame and notoriety. Also featuring Michael Biehn from The Terminator and Aliens, plus French Stewart from... whatever French Stewart is remembered for.
Remember when we watched Innocence of Muslims, that movie by the Egyptian-American Coptic Christian intended to insult Muslims by using horrible American actors who were tricked into unknowingly acting out bad, nonsensical comedy skits with obvious overdubbing? (Every time they say "Mohammed" or "Islam" or such, it's blatantly dubbed in, and you can tell the actors are saying something else)
My god, that was a hell of an experience. The first 10 minutes or so were news reports about terrorism, and then we watched 12 minutes of horrifically acted skits with at times obvious greenscreening, and then, it started replaying the same skits. I had to skip ahead in the movie to see what was going on, and I discovered that the entire rest of the movie was the same 12 minutes repeated over and over until movie length had been achieved. I don't even remember what we gave the movie; its score isn't shown in this coven's chart, but it's stored in my personal chart of movies I recommended.
Ultimately, to salvage that night, I switched over to a half-length animated movie ("The Magic Parcel" or something like that, something with "Parcel" in its name) that ended up getting a 4, IIRC. I wonder if we should run that as a pre-show sometime. It was genuinely enjoyable, which was more than could be said for the intended entertainment of the night.
Oh, btw, I noticed The Mystical Adventures of Billy Owens isn't listed in the list of movie scores. It's a 2. We had 8 viewers when it was done: 7 regulars, and Bluerock, who originally wanted to join us for the Columbine movie but couldn't since the Google Drive plugin doesn't work for him.
Daddy Derek sure knows how to find all sorts of random minor celebrities, doesn't he? Well, and major ones. Gotta love how Eric Estrada and Vivica A. Fox are mentioned by their full names. And how they're portrayed as just sitting together chatting about nothing - "Isn't it a beautiful day? Where is Cool Cat?" It feels like Derek was basically saying, "Hey! Look who I got in my movie!" Fuck, if I lived in Hollywood and was persistent enough, maybe I could do the same. I have no connections, but that might not even matter - I could probably find at least some random celebrity to do something for me!
Oh btw, I don't know if I mentioned this before, but remember The Lost Medallion: The Adventures of Billy Stone? The way I found out about that movie was actually by looking up Cool Cat Saves the Kids actors to see what else they appeared in. Butch the Bully was one of the random kids in the foster home in the hastily added bookend scenes in that movie. Just the name of the movie got my attention, and I ultimately ended up obtaining it to check it out.
