It is the year 2046, and technology has progressed and improved human life beyond anyone's expectations. In modern life, people are always connected to the net via a series of devices called Neuro-Linkers◊ (The necklace like apparatus on the neck of the girl. It is removable). These Neuro-Linkers communicate directly with the human brain, allowing for the benign manipulation of a human's senses. Right at edge of one's vision you can see the time, browse the net and a wide variety of other useful applications like hearing your favorite music directly in your mind without need of headphones. However, augmented reality is not the only benefit of possessing a Neuro-Linker. The neurolinker allows a person to fully immerse themselves into virtual reality. Thus, company meetings can be realized no matter how far away their members are in a perfectly recreated virtual meeting center. And the people can enjoy fully immersive multiplayer games needing nothing more than a comfortable place to rest and the time to actually play the game.

The cities are mostly free of crime as the most places are monitored by intelligent cameras which record all activity all the time. People tend to live in tall apartment buildings, you enter your home by using a virtual key and almost all financial transactions are realized easily by your neuro-linker.

However, this is only one part of the world. The reality which everyone is free to enter and live in. Supported by our technology a new world has been born, one in which only a selected few might touch.

This is the Brain Burst, the Accelerated World. A whole new reality to the which you may only invite a single person in your whole life. And today, from among all the people in the world I am inviting you to be a part of this world. My world.

So! This is an RP set in the setting of the series Accel World.From here on forward until the character sheet it's mostly world building so if you have seen Accel World feel free to skip most of this. For additional information you may see this article and the woefully lacking wiki.

In the world of tomorrow, a select few of the youth of Japan have been introduced to a strange, wondrous program called Brain Burst. What this program does is to Accelerate the thought processes of a person in a few different ways. The most basic of them is activated by the command "Burst Link" which accelerates your brain to go a thousand times faster than normal, paralyzing your body in place but allowing yourself to perceive the world around you as shown by your current vision and all the cameras set in place around the city. In this mode you manifest basically as the virtual avatar you normally use in the virtual world. It lasts for a maximum of 1.8 seconds in the real world, which translates into 30 minutes in the Accelerated Reality.

There are other applications of the program which allow you to move your body as you accelerate... however, this wondrous gift does not come free. The Acceleration given by the program exists to support a fighting game between those who have installed Brain Burst. Based on the user's psyche, a Duel Avatar is created to enable them to fight in their Accelerated state, allowing for fights to occur at any moment without interrupting a user's routine. These battles are fought for Burst Points. To use the basic Burst Link command you need to consume a single Burst Point. If you defeat someone in battle who is of your same level they will lose ten Burst Points and you will win those same ten Burst Points.

If your Burst Points reach zero, however, the program Brain Burst will forcefully unistall from your device, taking with it all the memories of the time you spent in the game and your knowledge of its existence.

Now, let us discuss the Duel Avatars, because this part is kind of important.

A Duel Avatar is a mechanical avatar which you use to fight and which represents you within the game that is Brain Burst.

Your Duel Avatar is created after you go to sleep for the first time after installing the Brain Burst program. In this dream, you will experience a nightmare which reflects your deepest traumas, fears and insecurities. The program automatically creates an avatar based on what you saw, taking into account your deepest desires and hopes, which are meant to overcome your own lack and faults.

Your Avatar then is named after a color and a noun representative of itself. This color will be featured on your avatar and defines some of it's abilities.

Here◊ there is a small visual aid and explanation on the color wheel. The primary colors are Blue, Red and Yellow. Blue Avatars are centered on close range attacks. Red Avatars center on long range attacks. Yellow Avatars are centered on indirect attacks, like illusions, status effects, support skills and some others. The colors in between them are centered on a mix between these disciplines. Thus Purple Avatars center on middle range with both melee and long range abilities, orange center on long range support and buffs and debuffs and the green color centers on close range and support abilities. The green has also been confirmed to have some of the highest defensive abilities of all other colors. In the center of the wheel there is White which can do a little out of all other skills, the true unspecialized. The more pure a color is, the more it is specialized on the abilities of it's own color. Thus a pure green character will have very high defense but not a whole lot of variety, while a very light green character might not boast a strong defense but it is a bit more free when it comes to its abilities. Also, you can lean more towards one color than the other if your avatar is of a secondary color. For example, if you're of the color purple, the tone of your color can be closer to blue than to red and as such while still specializing on the middle range you would not have as much range but a stronger close range attack.

However, besides the color wheel there is also the metal colors. Metal Colored Avatars are not defined by their methods of attack but by their resistance to attacks. They tend to have a stronger defense than usual colored avatars, except for green who remains the reigning color defense wise. They also have very specific resistances and weaknesses depending on their metal. Base metals have weaknesses to corrosion attacks but tend to have stronger defenses against direct attacks like bludgeoning and piercing attacks. Noble Metals have high defenses against poison and corrosion but have weaknesses to electrical attacks and don't have as much defense against common attacks.

Thus, is your Duel Avatar created with an ability and theme reflecting your inner desires and deepest wishes. You begin the game with 100 Burst Points and when you accumulate a certain amount you may expend them to go up a level. Leveling up allows you to improve your duel avatar in some way, be it by acquiring a new ability, raising some parameters or some other form of improvement. However, take care as those points are expended. Thus if you use all your points to go to level two leaving you with only five points left a single loss will make you lose Brain Burst forever. The highest level in the game is level 10, a level unattained by anyone. This is why the number of level 9 players is restricted to only 7 and the only way of attaining level 10 is by defeating all other level 9 players. However, in a fight between level 9 players the victor takes all points from the loser, making them be forced to uninstall the game and be expelled from Brain Burst forever. Faced with such severe consequences, the current level 9 players, the Kings of the Accelerated World have made a truce not to fight each other.

Now... Brain Burst was first released some years ago in secret to a certain number of Japanese Youths. Every player of Brain Burst can only give out a single copy to someone else. For Brain Burst to function there are only two known requirements. The first, the one to install Brain Burst must have had a Neuro-Linker since birth. Thus the players of Brain Burst are all pretty young since the Neuro-Linkers are a relatively new invention. Restriction number two is that they must have a certain level of mental speed. People who have honed their reflexes, like playing video games or who have done sports or other activities which might require mental agility and high reflexes are more likely to be able to accept Brain Burst. If the one to install Brain Burst does not meet the criteria, the program will not install but it still counts as the one allowed install by their sponsor.

Now, the one that provides the installation is referred as the "Parent" and the one that receives it is the "Child". In the accelerated world, the Parent and Child don't always stay together, but their relationship is one of the strongest that might be found. Parent and Child are known to have the strongest bonds... and in some cases the strongest hatreds. One of the reasons for this is that they must know each other in real life as the installation must be done directly by cable. In the Accelerated World, identities are almost always a secret and it takes a good deal of trust to reveal yourself to another player. That is because given the competitive element of Brain Burst and the power it gives it's users, knowing someone else identity in real life is a strong weapon to coerce, intimidate and harm others. Additionally, cabled connection once established have no security measures implemented. Once connected, two people may communicate their thoughts directly without speaking, go through the others data and memories. It is often a very intimate experience which is taboo in society and mostly used in private or by couples or lovers.

Also, one is automatically eligible to be challenged to a duel by anyone connected to the same network. Think of it as the wireless Hotspots of today. The network of a school is separate from the public one in the city downtown which is separate from the private one in your own home. The moment you step into the area of one of this networks and you have your neuro-linker open to connections (Something incredibly common which almost everyone has on at all times, specially in the incredibly connected world of the year 2046) you appear on the fighter roster for that area. Once a battle starts any number of people might join in only to spectate. Indeed, there are a great number of Burst Linkers that fight very little and enjoy more to see the good fighters engage in battle.

Another detail of this world, but not of Brain Burst is of some of the uses people give their technology. In most games and to represent themselves in the virtual world, people use avatars. Apparently these tend to be at base very simple, a perfect replica of the user. However, people might buy accessories, such as clothes, cat ears or other such items. Still, your avatar can be anything and indeed, those who learn a lot about computers and graphics design often make beautiful avatars which are the envy of all who look at them, including many effects and wondrous accessories. Yet, some prefer some more humble avatars, like little animals or the such. Also, on your home network you might buy devices which replicate and maintain virtual worlds which are shaped and filled by their users. These tend to be slightly personal and can give a very good insight into their user, be it an endless field of clouds and balloons or a museum of war machines.

Finally, I shall end this long exposition by briefly explaining the other known commands used in Brain Burst.

• Unlimited Burst: This is the command to enter the Unlimited Field or Unlimited Neutral Field. This field is a digital representation of the real world or more specifically, the city on which the users of Brain Burst live. It's not a perfect replica since it changes every day to fit a certain theme, going from the Jungle to Post Apocalypse and others. It can be used once the player reaches level 4. It consumes 10 Burst Points to accelerate at the same parameters as Burst Link. There is no time limit on the Unlimited Field and the only way to leave is through Leave Points scattered throughout the area. Apparently, if one were to theoretically spend a full day accelerated in the real world, it would equal three years in the Unlimited Field. Furthermore, in the Neutral Field there are strong NPC monsters which can be hunted for Burst Points. If one is defeated or killed in the Neutral Field one does not escape it, instead they leave behind a token for a set amount of time after they which they spawn again. Thus it is theoretically possible for someone to trap another person in Brain Burst by killing them and then hunting them again and again as they respawn.

• Physical Burst: This command allows a Burst Linker to accelerate both mind and body by 10 times for 3 seconds in the real world, equaling 30 seconds of acceleration. It consumes 5 Burst Points.

• Physical Full Burst: This command allows one to accelerate both mind and body by 100 times, it can only be used by level 9 Burst Linkers. It consumes 99% of the player current Burst Points.

Now, here is the character sheet, plus my own character as an example.

  • Name:
  • Age: Has to be young, with a very special case as an exception college age is pushing it.
  • Gender:
  • Appearance:
  • Personality: Must reflect their own fears, traumas, hopes and desires.
  • Bio: Within must be contained at least a short explanation of their motivations since these help shape their avatars. You don't need a highly traumatic past to give you a strong motivation. The most mundane of happenings can leave a deep mark depending on how hard they may affect you. If you have any special skills or possessions you may also list them here.
  • Virtual Appearance: Describe how their usual virtual avatar looks like. If they have a private virtual world you may also describe it here.
• Brain Burst Information:
  • Duel Avatar Name: Your name is composed of two words. First is the color of your character and then a descriptive noun. Here is a little list to go crazy on color names. Do take note that pure colors are very rare. Think about your abilities when deciding on the color of your name. If you call yourself Blue Blade take into account that you can do nothing else but the epitome of close range melee.
  • Duel Avatar Appearance: Describe how your Duel Avatar looks.
  • Duel Avatar Skills: What your Duel Avatar can do, what makes them special. Do take note that there are two abilities which are explicit in the story as very rare. First is Healing, there are only three healers in the whole Accelerated World. I shall put some care into seeing avatars with this skill. Second is the Aviation ability, the ability to fly. There is only one Burst Linker with the ability to freely fly. Consider this skill almost completely prohibited. The only way I will allow it is in case someone comes up with a very good reason for it, but don't count on getting it accepted. Jumping and gliding however, are different beasts altogether.
  • Parent: The name of the one which introduced you to Brain Burst and a few pointers about them. You don't need to RP as them, but I do want you to put some thought into them.
  • Child: Have you invited someone to Brain Burst? If so, say it here. You may be the Parent of some other player or begin the RP by introducing them to the game.
  • Level: At which level you currently are in Brain Burst. I won't allow truly high levels unless I hear a good reason for it. Think Four or Five as tops, which exceptions made for those with very good reasons. Also, we won't be counting the actual amount of Burst Points everyone has. It is supposed that in between scenes everyone has many duels to keep their points high. If someone starts using their points a lot for in game or story reasons we shall deal with those dangers accordingly.

• Personal Information:
  • Name: Morisato Midori
  • Age: 15
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: Very long dark hair reaching past her hips. She usually lets it loose through once in a while she wears a ponytail. Her earnest eyes are a pure emerald color and her skin is pale with a very slight tan due to the sun. As for height she's mostly average though on the short side of it with a thin delicate looking build which belies her improving athletic skills. She wears glasses on occasion as an accessory, even though with Neuro-Linkers such things have been left as mere accessories. Speaking of Neuro-Linkers, hers has a round slender shape and is a dark green color.
  • Personality: Determined, cool and a bit of a loner. Not actively repellent to people, but does appreciate her time alone and tends to be uncomfortable in a crowd. Fiercely loyal and honorable, a person who considers betrayal to be the gravest of offenses. Fears letting people down and going back on her promises. If she says she will do something, she shall go to extremes to accomplish it. Also, fiercely protective of those she believes are her responsibility.
  • Bio: Midori lived a completely regular life as a child, completely unremarkable until the time she was twelve years old. During this period of time a very close friend of her suffered from bullying, but given her shy nature, Midori never did step up for her. Given how conducting bullying is hard due to the social cameras applied in schools, those teasing her friend forced her into some dangerous unmonitored locations to conduct their games. One of those days, while Midori was looking things got out of hand and her best friend ended up in an accident. She suffered some nasty bruises and a broken arm which caused her parents to decide to move to another city. Due to staying on the outskirts, due to being so weak and reluctant to take action she saw her best friend suffer and eventually move away from her. Even though they could see each other on the net Midori kept her distance, shame and self loathing keeping her from being able to face her precious friend. Two years ago, Morisato Midori was invited into Brain Burst an experience which changed her life. She found the courage within herself to step up for what she believes in... and slowly she worked into becoming someone who can protect that which is valuable to her. She also unexpectedly joined a martial arts dojo to start training her frail body.
  • Virtual Appearance: Midori shifts between two different avatars online. One is a simple small sphere of light. The other is mostly her own appearance but with some changes. A pair of small horns on the side of her head, long droopy ears and a long light green dress. Her private virtual realm at home is a simple snowy valley surrounded by mountains and filled with trees. Within there is a tower which she has extensively decorated.
• Brain Burst Information:
  • Duel Avatar Name: Forest Aspis
  • Duel Avatar Appearance: Forest Aspis is a duel avatar mostly painted in a forest green color. They are tall, in the shape of a mechanical warrior woman. Their light plating simulating light armor belies their high defensive abilities. She carries a perfectly round shield with a V emblazoned on it and a spear. On the back, right from her waist hangs a length of lighter colored cloth that reaches down beyond her knees. Her head simulates a round helmet with a high ponytail.
  • Duel Avatar Skills: As a Duel Avatar with a very strong green color she possesses high defensive capabilities, which are often focused around her shield. Besides being able to soak up a lot of damage, her aspis allows her to use special abilities to shield others from harm. She also spent points on increased speed and to obtain her mighty spear.
  • Parent: Byzantine Arrow - An initially bossy and overbearing person who introduced Midori to the world of Brain Burst. Their partnership was rocky at first, but with her rough attitude, Byzantine only wanted to push Midori into obtaining the strength she wished for. After that rough start, Midori turned up to be an incredible partner for Byzantine's way of fighting. However, wishing to find her own way, Midori parted ways from her mentor. They keep in contact and every once in a while they meet together but they have a pact not to stray together too long inside the world of Brain Burst. Byzantine is right now the person Midori most respects in the world.
  • Child: None yet, open to taking someone under her wing.
  • Level: 4

Alright, lets wrap up this gigantic post by giving some pointers on how the RP will be run. As the GM I shall sorely accept people in the RP, keep the peace and referee for the most part. This RP relies a lot on character interaction and random events as there is no big overarching plot keeping everything together. As such I would recommend making relations even in the background with the characters of other players and talk a lot about how to keep them interacting as I won't be guiding people along. I'll give players a lot of freedom in making and managing NPC as I tend to get very bogged down because of them. If there is no problem with it and nobody raises objections you may even have and manage NPC Brain Bursters of importance and some canon characters to form your own story lines and events.

  • Personality: April is an extreme extrovert, always looking to have fun and meet new people. She is loud and brash, and can be very blunt. She is always curious and question, which can be annoying at times. She loves to party and dance, and loves music. She is a strong lover of anime and manga, and japanese culture, but she hates the food, so she is usually seen eating burgers and other things like that. She can be quite perverted in her thinking patterns, and she often sees connections in people that are not really there. She teases those she feels close to, a lot. She has strong fears of not having friends and being disliked, so she can sometimes come on too strong in her attempts to make friends. She has severe breast envy.
  • Bio: Born in America, she hasn't live in Japan for very long at all, but she isn't too bad with the language. Sometimes, her sentences will come from anime and games from Japan. Her parents are quite wealthy, and April uses this wealth to buy lots of technology and clothes. She lives with her big sister. She is frequently bullied by girls at her school, who often take her away to unmonitored parts of the city.
  • Virtual Appearance: The Busty Queen of the Dance Floor!◊ She also has a virtual space that resembles a night club with her own personal quite room hidden somewhere inside.

  • Duel Avatar Skills: She has a noticeably high acrobatic ability and is also very flexible. She has the ability to stand perfect on the point of one foot, with the other raised high, and she can spin very rapidly, like a top, and move all around to barrage the enemy. The bottom of her feet are spiked, and her nails are very sharp. Her suit also functions as something of a mini boombox/nightclub. It can generate loud, bumping music and flash colors and lights that Byzantine Dancer can control with her mind and use to distract the enemy.
  • Parent: Morisato Midori at the start of the RP. Midori must have seen something in her that she liked, and wanted to protect her and bring her into her world. Perhaps April just needed someone to show her. She might see a lot of Byzantine Arrow in her.

Unfortunately KPSAM you have to pick a single color, though it can be a dark shade of red if you wish for it. Also, even though your Duel Avatar is usually extensively painted in their color, you can actually look however you wish.

Ahhh Black, yes.

I avoided talking about it since in the series and books it still remains a secret exactly what Black does. People have speculated about it and we have been given a few inklings about it but still.

Anyway, I shall give a ruling on what Black does in our RP. By doing so I might be breaking Accel World canon but since I have no information about it at the moment there's no helping it.

If White is inclusion and means not specializing but having a bit of everyone else then Black is the complete opposite. The complete specialist. They shall tend to have a single theme or unique skill and their progression depends on the refinement of such a skill. The darker the color the more specialized.

Black is also a color that heavily depends on a strong sense of self by the user. This doesn't necessarily, but does often, mean a certain degree of selfishness. It shall mean someone that has strong personal ambition which is their main driving point or someone who rejects the world and most everyone in it.

  • Name: Amane Hayase
  • Age: 15
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: Often considered beautiful, Amane has long blonde hair often pulled into a pair of twintails. Reddish brown eyes tend to accent her pale skin. A slim figure tends to match well with her tall figure allowing her to stand out more. Her Neuro Linker which she often keeps on her is of a slender black color.
  • Personality: Amane is a rather bubbly girl who tends to look up at people. Fears being left behind and as such strives to keep up with the more popular students. Although she sometimes comes across as finicky she strives to be loyal and always do her best even if she sometimes has to step on others to accomplish it.
  • Bio: Amane has lead a rather normal life and one could say she has not faced too many hardships. However she did fail the entrance exam which has led to her believing that she has fallen behind and isolating herself from her friends in favor of studying harder out of a feeling that she was falling behind them. Once she manged to pass the exam and make it into the school she slowly began to reconnect with those she had cut herself off from and has been working hard ever since to not fall behind in her schooling or her social standing.
  • Virtual Appearance: Amane's virtual appearance is rather simple.◊ Her home in turn takes on the appearance of a sandy beach which contains a miniature cruise ship that she had modified to her content.
• Brain Burst Information:
  • Duel Avatar Name: Scarlet Arrow
  • Duel Avatar Appearance: Scarlet Arrow is a small avatar possessing a deep scarlet color. She carries a pair of guns that shoot energy blast as well as small sparks of electricity. Enveloped in plating of a slightly lighter shade of red she wears a dark gray helmet whilst otherwise looking slightly more human than most. Melded into her legs are a pair of shoes that allow her to "fly".
  • Duel Avatar Skills: Due to the intensity of her color Scarlet Arrow excels in long ranged combat. As such her shoes allow her to glide on the ground. Her guns in turn allow her to defend herself in battles and while she can take somewhat of a beating too many hits in quick succession will render her useless.
  • Parent: Ebony Blade - To be recruited by later.
  • Child: None yet.

Amusingly, I find this a day after stumbling at random onto the page for Accel World. Sadly, I havnt yet had a chance to watch the show. Of course if this isnt launched by the time I do....

Looking at the series again, I'm curious as how you would handle the availability of the Incarnate System (basically minor-reality bending exploiting the virtual world's strained law of physics) and Hyper Acceleration (a speed/reflex boost at low health).

I'll come up with a character soon.

Hmmm basically as the series handles it at the moment. For the Incarnate System people would need to train a lot at it to be able to make use of it. Fortunately, it's quite a rare skill to know off so we have some time until it's introduced to the players. Hyper Acceleration I have to admit I don't know much off at the moment.

There's one more issue I have about the RP. Due to how the fights are done in an 'accelerated' timeframe, and real-world actions aren't, that would basically mean nobody else could post if a battle is ongoing, unless they, too, are accelerating. This might cause some serious pacing issues in the RP, IMO.

How about simply not using the incarnate system? It's really, really rare, after all: Besides, we're bog-standard Burst Linkers, not special ones with a King's direct help.

Indeed, that is a very good issue to address.

Hmmm lets say that everyone in the same room or location get the chance to Accelerate once a battle starts. Then they can either spectate, battle themselves or carry discussions as a battle rages on. Those on other locations are free to move and post as they will as they are not in the current 'scene' to say so.

As for those on the same location but who don't want to get involved with the current battle or go into the Accelerated World... we can come up with in-story or character reasons for them to move elsewhere. Since they don't 'see' they will not be there to see what happens with the Accelerated characters any time differences can be solved with small time skips in between going from location to meet up or some such.

There might be slight issues with time integrity and consistency but I hope we can work around those.

Done some updates to her personality and bio, due to how poorly they were phrased earlier.

• Name: Hisako Irokane
• Age: 14
• Gender: Female
• Appearance: Hisako is a well-endowed girl, with slightly above-average height and slim figure obtained from her hobby to do tennis. She has black hair that goes nicely with her bright tone of skin, arranged to a pair of symmetrical side-tails and a slightly bigger ponytail. She also has noticeably blue eyes, which are capable of a dangerously scary Kubrick Stare. Her neuro-linker is a minimalist black one.
• Personality: Hisako was known for her great persistence and resoluteness once she made her decision, to the point where it bothered some people. She has knowledge of psychological fallacies and how to exploit them to gain people on her side. Her persistence is also applied to trusting people; once she begins to trust someone, she won’t look back nor doubt them. This behavior was attributed to her being raised in a socially peaceful environment. An incident involving her boyfriend had shaken her greatly, and slowly she began to lose that unique resolve, as every decision she made comes with a previously unknown fear of being incorrect.
• Bio: Despite being born in a family that sits in the lower spectrum of the social stature, Hisako lived through the first twelve years of her life peacefully, constantly being treated nicely and was alien to the crueler side of the world. At the second year of junior high, Hisako came to know love, harboring her first crush at an equally persistent upperclassman named Akio Shibara. They became acquainted with each other, and, before they knew it, became couples. In the same year, Hisako’s class went into a field trip to a rural town, with Akio as one of the supervisors. In that trip, Hisako was made the captain of her group. Hisako decided to venture to off-limit areas, believing it was safe to do so. They encountered several dangers. Protecting Hisako from one of them, Akio got into a horrible accident, and became disabled because of late treatment. Admitting her mistake, Hisako resolved to help him. She visited him and cable-linked with him. Unlike his disabled real-life body, Akio is perfectly fine inside his virtual world. Akio insisted she shouldn't worry about him, but Hisako's insistence moved him. In the end, Akio informed Hisako about the Brain Burst, and how obtaining money was more than possible with the help of acceleration. After considering her natural talent in tennis, Hisako took up the offer and installed the Brain Burst. From that point on, Hisako began her debut in tennis and took it with the most serious of intentions.
• Virtual Appearance: Mostly the same as her real-world appearance, only half of her face is covered with a harmless-looking grey mask. The plan is that Akio would redesign his avatar so his avatar would have the other half of the mask, but remembering his disabled body and how avatar redesign have to be done outside the virtual world, that plan may never be realized...

• Duel Avatar Appearance: Ocean Mirror has a rather feminine look to it, and is tinted bright blue. Has average size and height. Seemingly integrated to her armor, parts of her arms and legs are covered in a jewel-like mirror. Those mirrors were obviously harder to break than the conventional ones.
• Duel Avatar Skills: The color 'ocean' in the system is vaguely defined, as the color of the ocean can vary greatly, from very deep blue to borderline green. As an effect, her duel avatar had an ambiguous set of abilities, and an uncertain development path, but it was safe to conclude that her avatar would be one that specializes in moves that screw around her opponent’s special gauge with hers, while attacking in close-range. At level one, her abilities were limited to close-range combat, using sharp mirror fragments as her weapon.
  • Special Move - Shatter Strike: Ocean Mirror makes a blindingly fast cut with her weapon, dealing heavy slashing and striking damage at the target. This skill breaks her weapon.

  • Age: 16
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: Short shoulder-length brown hair, mischievous blue eyes and taller than usual. She has very pale skin and her Neuro-Linker is pink with yellow accents.
  • Personality: Not very good at school but very good at analyzing and remembering people, she loves to volunteer and do any sort of charity work. She also love shopping and pop music and all that comes with it. Her room is decorated from head to toe in J-pop merchandising. She loves to dance and hang out with her friends and is afraid of the day when they'll all have to graduate from high school and go their separate ways. She's also afraid of being unable to help in any situation. Her aunt who lives near Akibahara got her into fighting games and she's always looking for the next challenge.
  • Bio: Nana has always been a very impulsive person and after seeing a news story when she was 11 about people all over the world suffering she began to volunteer at various places and donate money to charity. She's fairly popular at school and doesn't have many social problems, though she is afraid of being lonely. A few years after she'd gotten into fighting games an incident in Akihabara got her the Brain Burst program from her aunt's new boyfriend. She doesn't really think much of it since the entire Legion thing annoys her but enjoys having the ability to dive into another world sometimes.
  • Virtual Appearance: An aardvark that can stand on it's hind legs with extremely long ears.

  • Duel Avatar Appearance: A average height avatar with a vintage Magical Girl look.
  • Duel Avatar Skills: Since she's a light blue avatar she isn't very profficient at all forms short range combat. But she excels at hand to hand combat and the use of a staff that can channel 'Magical' attacks. She can't take a lot of damage but compensates by being very speedy. She spends her points to gain speed and attacks that are more long range, flashy and devastating.
  • Parent: Snowpres Stormer - A white avatar used by her Aunt's new boyfriend who is decidedly a huge anime nerd, he doesn't play Brain Burst as much as she does but they keep in touch through her aunt and she keeps him posted on the various gossip she's learned every week.

• Personal Information:
  • Name: Mori Ryota
  • Age: 14
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: At a glance he's a fairly plain looking boy, but upon closer inspection there are a few surprising features. He has slight heterochromia, his right eye is a slightly different green than his left, like someone tried to match them but couldn't do it probably. His Neuro-link is also a sub-dermal implant (think like Ghost In The Shell).
  • Personality: A quite but curious kid who feels much more comfortable on the net. Is very sensitive about the right half of his body, which is mostly advanced prosthetics. Other than that, he likes reading stories and learning about how people think.
  • Bio: Due to a car accident when he was very young, almost the entirety of the right half Ryota's body is advanced prosthetics, including part of his spinal cord and brain stem. For this reason, his Neuro-link is an integral part of his nervous system, and cannot be removed, though his interface has more protection than average. Since he was a child he's feared he's no longer who he was before the accident, that there is something artificial influencing his thoughts and personality. Despite having had the Brain Burst program for 6 months, he hasn't fought many duels (made it to level 2 primarily from defensive wins), working as a somewhat of a photojournalist in the Accelerated World (long-range artillery scopes make great zoom lenses), publishing news summaries to the Legion HQ's.
  • Virtual Appearance: Usually uses an F-35B (STOVL) which despite being a plane floats more than flies. People think he's a bit odd for not having a humanoid avatar.

• Brain Burst Information:
  • Duel Avatar Name: Vermillion Doppelganger
  • Duel Avatar Appearance: Primary appearance is a four-legged spider tank with with a massive cannon on its back. The cannon is on a raised, hydraulic platform that is capable of a 360 degree firing arc, as well as angling the cannon straight up or down over the main chassis' edges. The tanks legs end in either wheels for travel over land or claws for climbing up surfaces. His avatar can also reconfigure itself into a humanoid form, wherein the cannon fits over his right arm.
  • Duel Avatar Skills: Aside from the cannon, the Ryota's special weapon is the ability to summon an AI assistant◊, armed with only two light machine guns, although it has a durable energy shield and metal properties. Also of note is that the assistant is fully capable of making it's own decisions, Ryota has no direct control over it, to the point that it could even summon itself without his consent. Requires a full special gauge, and drains the entire thing.
  • Parent: Just someone who thought someone with that level of prosthetics would make an interesting Burst Linker (Beyond that I haven't thought of much).

Hisako is approved.

Nana is approved. Her complimentary skills are not very blueish but since she's a light tone of blue they are entirely acceptable.

Ryota is approved, if a few modifications are performed. No flying in the Accel World even if you super impose your usual Virtual Appearance. That would be like loading another skin into the program, you might look like a plane but without the aviation skill the program won't allow you to fly. Also, your current Duel Avatar has a bit too much going on to be a level 1. All of the things he has are allowed in the Accelerated World but they seem like things he would buy as improvements as he levels up. You may keep them for references sake if you wish to expend your points in the future to buy them. You may keep the AI assistant but stick to one form for now and either the solid or shotgun burst shot. That or you can raise your level.

Amane is accepted, though I would like you to remove the ability to glide on the air. Flying tends to be a big deal and even those who don't actually fly but merely glide or can jump very high tend to be people who deeply wish to reach for the skies and be free.

Done. I was not sure if I should remove her ability to glide on the ground or not though so I left that part in.

Raised Ryota's level to 2, removed the different shells, and the "whale-with-a-cannon-on-its-back" form. Also stipulated that though the plane avatar is a plane, in function it would be similar to a floating fish-style or floating ball of light-style avatar.

Oh, and I fixed a messed up link on the AI assistant. I meant to use a pic of a geth colossus, not Legion. I was playing with the idea of the assistant being a transforming machine as well, and grabbed the wrong link when copy-pasting.

And good, though be aware that the plane won't be able to rise over two meters from the ground in the Accelerated World. Outside of it and on other nets you are free to fly as much as you want.

  • Age: 17
  • Gender: male
  • Appearance: He has medium short redish hair which often falling in his brown eyes, He imidietely return them back everytime. His hairs are pretty much only unique trait on his look. His neurolink is neutral white.
  • Personality: He is quite friendly and often help others, but that is pretty much only facade. He never talk about himself except trivial issues and would never ask for help. He belive there always exist way to fight in one way or other and look down on people, that let theiself being bullied or used by others as much as these who cause it.
  • Bio: He grew up only with his older sister (who also were his "parent"), who in order rise him had to left school and start work, her boss quickly found about their situation and used to make her work even harder. Manabu looked on it with both guilt and gradualy even with growing disdain. In the end she get fired anyway. Recently she found good job, but she would have to move to different city. She did, but he decided stay and try live on his own...
  • Virtual Appearance: He looks like Standard Armorless samurai with longer hair tied into ponytail

  • Duel Avatar Name: Limerick Guardian
  • Duel Avatar Appearance: Limerick Guardian is average sised avatar of Green-yellow color with and dark green armor parts covering his joints. His eyes also are dark green. Around him always circling three disc-like antenas. Front of them is green, back yellow.
  • Duel Avatar Skills: three discs are capable of emiting circular 50cm diameter force-field that defend him and allow close range counter attack. it spend as much SP from gauge as it would HP if it hit
  • Parent: Saffron Marionette lv.6 . She using Razor Floss and when she capture others avatars she may control their movement and even make them using their combos. She live currently far away (viz. bio)
