Thanks for all the kind words, everyone. I'm seriously considering coming out at work now. If customers already realize I'm a girl, I might as well, right? On the other hand, it might be better to wait until I can get laser hair removal done this summer, since I'd hate to get a long shift and end up with a five o'clock shadow.

My issues with breast size are kinda weird. I'm actually the third woman in my household taking estrogen, and we're all three taking it for different reasons. My mom's taking it because she's old and I think it helps with menopause or something, my little sister is taking it because she's got a developmental disorder, and I'm taking it because, well, you know. Heck, I even have the biggest breasts between the three of us (and the second biggest in the household overall. Yes, I keep track, sue me). At the same time, though, my breasts still look a lot smaller than they ought to given my body size.

But I've only been taking hormones for about eight months, so I don't think my body's done changing yet. And besides, I'm clearly not having any trouble passing anyways. Weirdly enough, I'd expected my family to be the most supportive and for random strangers to give me the hardest time, but it's ended up being the other way around. Random strangers are always very pleasant to me and don't seem to notice I'm trans at all, whereas certain family members... Well, I've already talked about them at length.

(And yes, when I first came out to her, my mom jokingly offered me some of her estrogen.)

[up]Facial hair, the bane of my existence sadtongue[nja].

It doens't help that I cut myself multiple times every time I shave, always forget some places, and for multiple reasons laser or good old fashioned wax probably won't be options for a relatively long time.

Hopefully, said long time won't be much longer than what it will take for my hair to get as long as I intend it to be. I actually have a plan for when I finally start letting my feminine side out, but to be confortabable with it I plan on making my appearence more androgynous first, and I am doing it step by step.

I can imagine "ideal" bodies of both sexes that I wouldn't mind having. I'm just not really bothered enough by my current one to make any major changes. (I would like a new pair of eyes though. The ones I've got can't see for shit.) I basically stopped aging at some point back in my upper teens, and the not all that great looking can't-be-bothered-to-shave beard I've got helps with that.

Still a great "screw depression" song even after seven years.

I had much worse gender dysphoria years ago closer to the start of puberty, but it's been much more managable lately, probably because of the success I've had with coming out and transitioning. Right now, I'm not planning on making any changes to my body besides laser hair removal (which is more for practical reasons) and whatever the estrogen does to me.

Weirdly enough, I didn't feel much dysphoria until relatively recently, as I transitioned from teenage into young adulthood. Or I did, but not enough to not be supressed by my desire to fit in.

But as I neared and eventualy reached 17 years? Well, I had no friends to fit in with, was about to get into college, and had all the time in the world to question things about myself and to pay more attention to how I looked. And I was both confused about what I saw in my mind and far from happy about what I saw in the mirror.

I also looked into some memories of when I was a young child, and saw that my behaviors were much less masculine back then. Not fully feminine either, but more in between, and reaching more towards one end or the other depending on the gender most common among my group of friends. That is, before I got a little older and had to behave in a more masculine way to not be branded a "faggot".

So after months of questioning and research, and even more months of bottling up my feelings, here I am.

Well I can't relate much to gender dysphoria, But I can relate to not wanting to fit a gender stereotype. I would be upset with myself if I gave even one thought to gender roles before taking any action, for any reason.

Because I'm really good at bottling up my emotions, I didn't recognize signs of gender dysphoria that happened when I went through puberty, but looking back they were really obvious. How emotional and depressed I got every time I fell to the communists, preferring baggy shirts and baggy jeans, having "beard envy" and being uncomfortable in dresses.

For ages I just thought I was butch as fuck.

I remember hearing about the American college of pediatricians a while ago. They made the Daily Show or the Colbert Report at one point.

So I have no idea how my great aunt will react to me being trans. I had a really close relationship with her once (despite her living in Scotland and all that), but haven't talk to her in forever. She's from the very conservative side of my family, but I'm hoping my Oma (who's pretty open about my trans stuff) will have a chat if things get too bad.

I honestly have no idea how she'd feel about transgender people, and she's coming over to visit soon-ish.

[up] That's kind of hilarious actually. Some believers seem to have a habit of seriously underestimating their gods though. Being transgender won't hurt YHWH; you need iron and wrestling moves for that.

People could you please stop joking? Some of us here(well, I hope I am not the only one) are religious, or at least spiritual and would prefer if this matter was treated a little more seriously.

Plus, I am sure that if God exists, he is much more reasonable than that cardinal thinks. And less killable.

[up]Well, I'm sure if God is more reasonable than that cardinal thinks, he has thick enough skin not to get offended at us joking about him.

Also, seeing as God is so reasonable and all, I doubt he'd throw atheists into hell for all eternity solely for the crime of not believing in him without any airtight evidence, so I feel safe in informing you that in my personal belief, religion is evil and promotes bigotry and intolerance, as our friend the Catholic cardinal here is demonstrating admirably. So no, sorry, I won't be treating your fictional genocidal deity with respect. Most of the people who believe in that deity think I'm an abomination or a rapist or a pedophile just because of the clothes I wear, and that belief is totally supported by their scripture.

If you want people to treat your imaginary friend with respect, maybe go find a thread for people who aren't specifically persecuted by your religion.

Fun Fact: I work on Sundays, so my parents make my little sister go to their church with them since they don't want to leave her home alone. One day my sister returned home to me all upset to report that the preacher had said some really fucking horrible things about gay and transgender people. It was one of those churches with a huge stadium that's always packed. They all cheered.

Yeah, forgive me if I'm a little bitter. But sure, leaving the thread and saying "shut the fuck up" are totally great responses. Good job, guys.
